Gorgeous peaceful, spacious and light-filled studio - an oasis of calm in London's literary heart. Full of original features, the south-facing studio has a large main room with a wood floor, an extremely comfortable four-poster bed, two sofas (one of which turns into a double sofa bed), and a dining area.
There is a sun-filled balcony with a table and two chairs overlooking a park with a lovely view of the City skyline.
A separate kitchen is small but well-equipped, with four-ring electric hob, grill and oven, washing machine and tumble dryer, and a range of kitchen equipment. A spacious hallway has a fold-out table, which can be used as a separate office/writing space. The bathroom is full of original features, including an old-fashioned mirrored alcove and a (recently restored) 1930s bath, with a shower. Fresh linen and towels are provided, and there is a fast wireless internet connection. There is also a TV.
The studio is very well located for visitors to London. It is a few minutes walk from Russell Square (Piccadilly Line to Covent Garden, Piccadilly, South Kensington and Heathrow Airport), and Chancery Lane (Central Line to Oxford St and Notting Hill Gate) and Kings Cross (Victoria, Northern, Circle, Piccadilly & Metropolitan lines) underground stations are within 10 minutes walk. It's close to the Eurostar terminal at St Pancras, and train connections to Gatwick and Stansted Airports. Virtually outside the door is a bus stop - it's a 10 minute bus ride to St Paul's and the Millennium Bridge and to Blackfriars Bridge, for easy access to the South Bank's arts and culture. The City is within walking distance, and the studio is ideal for academics wishing to use the British Library - a short walk away - or visit Central London University of London colleges (UCL, SOAS, LSHTM and LSE are all within walking distance).
That's what I love about my apartment - being able to be in the heart of London, able to walk to most of the places I'd like to go, and then returning from the bustle of the city to this lovely quiet and calm space.
Bloomsbury is famous for having been home to a number of Britain's creative writers, and as a hub for a bohemian group of people who included Virginia Woolf - the Bloomsbury Set. The streets around are peppered with blue plaques commemorating those who lived in this area, and there are various nearby attractions associated with writers, such as the Charles Dickens museum. The British Museum is a short walk away.
Nearby amenities include the legendary People's Supermarket, some great restaurants, an excellent shopping centre with a Waitrose (UK's best) supermarket, an art house cinema, patisserie and chemist, a 24 hour grocery shop just across the road, and lots of good restaurants, pubs, and cafes. Islington's Upper Street and Exmouth Market, Covent Garden and Soho, with their restaurants and bars are all within walking distance.
I can advise on sights, things to do, places to eat & transport to and from the airport.

If we returned to London, and we will one day, we would stay at Andrea's apartment again. Andrea was very helpful and there when we needed her. The location is fantastic, especially if you are arriving via Gatwick and taking the First Capital Train to St. Pancras station (ten minute walk). There are convenient bus and subway lines very close by, lots of parks, places to eat and some really great local pubs. Walk in any direction and you'll be happy that you did, so much to see, all within 2-30 minutes walking time. London is so wonderful, it's a big city and charming at the same time. Staying at this apartment will make you very happy with your visit to one of the world's great cities.
Great location - convenient to Piccadilly Line for travel to/from Heathrow and elsewhere; good underground & bus service wherever we wanted to go. We found the Calthorpe Arms pub a block away - great food and the nicest staff & customers in the world! The apartment itself, while perfectly sufficient for our needs, didn't quite deserve the word "gorgeous" in my opinion; decor & art on the monotone side. The second person in or out of the bed must climb over the foot!
The studio is fantastic, it is in an excellent position, very close to the underground, shopping centre, nice restaurants, British Museum, and nice walking distance from Convent Garden. The owner is very kind, communication with her was extremely easy both before arriving to London and during my permanence in the studio. I enjoyed very much my staying in the studio and I strongly recommend it.
A real design treasure in the heart of London. Lovers of Deco will hugely enjoy this beautifully original living space and the warm welcome of the owner. Views to die for across the city and everything you ever want within easy walking distance.
very comfortable and truly memorable.
This flat was a lovely space to spend a month in London. It was comfortable to work in as well as an amazing location from which to visit the city. Clean and quiet building, lots of natural light, a kitchen with all the essentials, and superb decor. I would easily stay here again.
I was very happy in this apartment-- it was a lovely little "home away from home" for me over a Christmas holiday. I had plenty of space to make myself at home, the bed was comfy, I loved the flat's vintage character, and it was a great convenience to have a washer and dryer in the flat. The view is fun to photograph, taking in the street below with the Gherkin and financial district in the distance. I was quite content to stay in the flat on Christmas day and on rainy mornings, and still in a week saw five plays, visited four museums, saw street performers in Covent Garden, browsed designer shops in the theatre district, and had my tarot cards read in Neal's Yard, The bus and tube are close by, and as a woman traveling alone, I felt safe walking around this area or traversing the few blocks from the nearest tube station after dark. Andrea was an excellent host; on the day I arrived she showed me around the neighborhood, and her online guide to the area's restaurants and shops, with walking/driving directions, is first-rate.
Thanks Andrea for enhancing my first visit to London. The apartment is ideally situated - an easy walk to Russell Square or Kings Cross tube stations. We really enjoyed the extremely comfy bed, and waking up to magnificent city views every morning. The sunrises were amazing.
We appreciated having a separate, well equipped kitchen, and there was plenty of storage space to enable us to spread out.
Andrea was excellent with the communication, and was very obliging.
Great flat in a great location! I could not have wanted more during my week-long visit to London. Thanks, Andrea.
It was wonderful to come "home" to Andrea's flat each day. We had everything we needed: a comfortable bed, the kitchen equipped for breakfast in and snacks, and a location that couldn't be beat. The view at sunset and the proximity to transport - plus the unexpected wonders of the neighborhood itself! - made this the perfect place for our London stay. Our hostess provided all the information we needed to make ourselves feel welcome. We truly loved our stay.
In general, I would recommend this place to everybody. It is a very nice studio, clean and very well located. We loved the art-deco style and the bed was also comfortable.
The nearest tube station is only 5 minutes away and it is only a 10 minute walk from the St. Pancras. Even better, across the street you can take a public bike for only 2£ per 24h.
Unfortunately we did not had the opportunity to meet the host, but she did everything she could to help us and she texted me several times to check everything was ok.
Next time, I'll definitely stay here again.
