About this listing

Gorgeous peaceful, spacious and light-filled studio - an oasis of calm in London's literary heart.

The space

Full of original features, the south-facing studio has a large main room with a wood floor, an extremely comfortable four-poster bed, two sofas (one of which turns into a double sofa bed), and a dining area.

There is a sun-filled balcony with a table and two chairs overlooking a park with a lovely view of the City skyline. A separate kitchen is small but well-equipped, with an electric hob, grill and oven, microwave, washing machine and tumble dryer, and a range of kitchen equipment. The bathroom is full of original features, including an old-fashioned mirrored alcove and a (recently restored) 1930s bath, with a shower. Fresh linen and towels are provided, and there is a fast wireless internet connection. There is also a TV.

The studio is very well located for visitors to London. It is a few minutes walk from Russell Square (Piccadilly Line to Covent Garden, Piccadilly, South Kensington and Heathrow Airport), and Chancery Lane (Central Line to Oxford St and Notting Hill Gate) and Kings Cross (Victoria, Northern, Circle, Piccadilly & Metropolitan lines) underground stations are within 10 minutes walk. It's close to the Eurostar terminal at St Pancras, and train connections to Gatwick and Stansted Airports. Virtually outside the door is a bus stop - it's a 10 minute bus ride to St Paul's and the Millennium Bridge and to Blackfriars Bridge, for easy access to the South Bank's arts and culture. The City is within walking distance, and the studio is ideal for academics wishing to use the British Library - a short walk away - or visit Central London University of London colleges (UCL, SOAS, LSHTM and LSE are all within walking distance).

That's what I love about my apartment - being able to be in the heart of London, able to walk to most of the places I'd like to go, and then returning from the bustle of the city to this lovely quiet and calm space.

Bloomsbury is famous for having been home to a number of Britain's creative writers, and as a hub for a bohemian group of people who included Virginia Woolf - the Bloomsbury Set. The streets around are peppered with blue plaques commemorating those who lived in this area, and there are various nearby attractions associated with writers, such as the Charles Dickens museum. The British Museum is a short walk away.

Nearby amenities include the legendary People's Supermarket, some great restaurants, an excellent shopping centre with a Waitrose (UK's best) supermarket, an art house cinema, patisserie and chemist, a 24 hour grocery shop just across the road, and lots of good restaurants, pubs, and cafes. Islington's Upper Street and Exmouth Market, Covent Garden and Soho, with their restaurants and bars are all within walking distance.

I can advise on sights, things to do, places to eat & transport to and from the airport.

The flat is self contained, and guests will have access to a balcony overlooking a park with an amazing view of the city.

I generally meet guests on arrival - and sometimes have a chance to take them on a walk around the area - and then leave you in peace!

Bloomsbury is a fantastic neighbourhood, full of little restaurants, great pubs, independent shops, spacious green squares and lovely little unexpected pleasures tucked away between the main thoroughfares. It's walking distance from the heart of London, and a lovely place to stay to get to know the city.

The apartment is very well located for transport - there are bus stops virtually outside the building, and just about every tube line is within a short walking distance (3 tube stations within 10 minutes walk, the nearest, Russell Square, connecting you to the South Kensington Museums, Piccadilly Circus and Heathrow).

This is the second time we have stayed at Andrea's studio when we visit London from Australia. We love being there. It has everything you want for a stay in London, great location for public transport, shopping or just walking to central London, plenty of space and a real sense of home. We love sitting on the balcony with a drink after a busy day, and overlooking over the park with the trees gives it an even bigger sense of space.

Andrea's flat is an amazing home base for London sightseeing as the location is very central, walkable to nearly anything, and close to multiple lines of public transit. The flat itself is beautifully decorated, clean, and the balcony is perfect for coffee and breakfast in the morning or drinks at night. Andrea left great tips about local restaurants and cafes that never steered us wrong. Highly recommend!

We spent a week at Andrea's place and loved it! It was in a great location, close to the tube, trains and busses. We could get all over London so easily. The building is great and has a lovely old cage lift. The apartment has a nice outlook over the park and was very quiet. It's a great size for two people and fantastic value for London. Though I didn't get to meet Andrea, she kept in contact and checked all was OK. She was a lovely host.

Andrea was a great host. The flat was exactly as expected! The only downside to our stay was the parking, which was to be expected.

Andrea's place is lovely and very cosy. It's in a beautiful Art Deco building, the style that is also reflected in the flat. It has a great view. The flat was clean and as described. Andrea was quick to answer any questions and was very pleasant.

Hi, I'm an academic & love to travel. Something I like about hosting people on Air BnB is getting to meet people from all over the world.
