Gorgeous peaceful, spacious and light-filled studio - an oasis of calm in London's literary heart. Full of original features, the south-facing studio has a large main room with a wood floor, an extremely comfortable four-poster bed, two sofas (one of which turns into a double sofa bed), and a dining area.
There is a sun-filled balcony with a table and two chairs overlooking a park with a lovely view of the City skyline.
A separate kitchen is small but well-equipped, with four-ring electric hob, grill and oven, washing machine and tumble dryer, and a range of kitchen equipment. A spacious hallway has a fold-out table, which can be used as a separate office/writing space. The bathroom is full of original features, including an old-fashioned mirrored alcove and a (recently restored) 1930s bath, with a shower. Fresh linen and towels are provided, and there is a fast wireless internet connection. There is also a TV.
The studio is very well located for visitors to London. It is a few minutes walk from Russell Square (Piccadilly Line to Covent Garden, Piccadilly, South Kensington and Heathrow Airport), and Chancery Lane (Central Line to Oxford St and Notting Hill Gate) and Kings Cross (Victoria, Northern, Circle, Piccadilly & Metropolitan lines) underground stations are within 10 minutes walk. It's close to the Eurostar terminal at St Pancras, and train connections to Gatwick and Stansted Airports. Virtually outside the door is a bus stop - it's a 10 minute bus ride to St Paul's and the Millennium Bridge and to Blackfriars Bridge, for easy access to the South Bank's arts and culture. The City is within walking distance, and the studio is ideal for academics wishing to use the British Library - a short walk away - or visit Central London University of London colleges (UCL, SOAS, LSHTM and LSE are all within walking distance).
That's what I love about my apartment - being able to be in the heart of London, able to walk to most of the places I'd like to go, and then returning from the bustle of the city to this lovely quiet and calm space.
Bloomsbury is famous for having been home to a number of Britain's creative writers, and as a hub for a bohemian group of people who included Virginia Woolf - the Bloomsbury Set. The streets around are peppered with blue plaques commemorating those who lived in this area, and there are various nearby attractions associated with writers, such as the Charles Dickens museum. The British Museum is a short walk away.
Nearby amenities include the legendary People's Supermarket, some great restaurants, an excellent shopping centre with a Waitrose (UK's best) supermarket, an art house cinema, patisserie and chemist, a 24 hour grocery shop just across the road, and lots of good restaurants, pubs, and cafes. Islington's Upper Street and Exmouth Market, Covent Garden and Soho, with their restaurants and bars are all within walking distance.
I can advise on sights, things to do, places to eat & transport to and from the airport.

The apartment is in a lovely art-deco building in a quiet part of central London. It has great views of the city from the balcony and overlooks the nearby park. The apartment itself is clean and well presented. Communication with Andrea was good.
We were very pleased to stay in Andreas flat. The flat is original art deco, very clean and calm, beautyfull vieuw.
Andrea was very helpfull and everything worked perfect.
We will return to this flat next time in London
We did not get to meet Andrea but she was in constant contact by email. The apartment was great. It is bright and airy with a cute little balconey. Everything we needed was provided. The location is very good. Kings Cross and St Pancras are within walking distance and there are frequent buses at the doorstep. A very peaceful location. We would definitely stay there again.
The apartment was very nice (especially the old elevator and the views from the balcony!) and the location was FANTASTIC. Andrea was very helpful.
This studio apartment is actually very spacious with dining, lounge and sleeping areas and very comfortable furnishings. it is bright and sunny with big windows and views across the rooftops. The building is secure and the lift great, considering the luggage we all have. We found the neighbours in the building very helpful and Andrea was only an email or phone call away and responded immediately. Bloomsbury is a very interesting and easy place to stay in London, with the tube to Heathrow going through the local station. It's walking distance to numerous London places of interest, with buses going in all directions as well. The local cafes are lovely.
Andrea was very helpful and so accommodating! The flat is in a wonderful location- we had a great stay!
Andrea provided the best service possible, and exceeded our expectations. Thank you so much Andrea for making our visit to London comfortable and pleasant. What we appreciated most is the excellent response time to our questions, pre-arrival support was outstanding.
The studio fit our needs very well. It was as described and fully functional. The view was great, over the tree line of the park behind the building one could see southwest. Night view was memorable and picturesque. What was most important to us is a central location from which we could get around London. I personally preferred the Kings Cross Tube Station over the Russell Square station.
We would stay here again. Hard to beat Andrea's attentiveness.
If you are visiting in May, I highly recommend checking out the Queen Mary rose garden in Regent's Park, the rose blooms were just forming in late April and should be in stunning bloom mid to late May. Oh well, next time I will plan that better. Thank you Andrea.
As this was the first time using (website hidden), we weren't sure what to expect staying at another person's flat and about the whole airbnb process but Andrea (email hidden), informing us from start to finish, full details about all aspects of her flat, how to use everything and even gave "a local's" recommendations on nearby restaurants and shops. She was very efficient and organized, answered all questions promptly and thought of everything to make our stay pleasant.
Her flat was clean and comfortable and had all the conveniences necessary for a short stay in London. Extra everything- sheets, comforters, covers and cases, scissors, washer, dryer, heater, etc. that it felt like staying at a friend's well-kept apartment which we had all to ourselves. We always felt happy to come back here after a tiring day.
The flat is in a convenient location, arriving from Heathrow on the Picadilly line at Russell Square or King's Cross station, then departing from St. Pancras Eurostar station. All stations could be easily walked to in 10 min with our luggage. A bus 50m outside the flat took us to St. Paul's Cathedral and Millenium Bridge. We also found Brunswick Shopping plaza right by Russell Square station filled with nice shops and supermarket.
We're glad we found this place because of the excellent host (Thanks Andrea!) and great flat, and would highly recommend it to anyone visiting London.
Had a charming stay at this apartment. Got in very early and Andrea was gracious enough to let me nap on the couch while the apartment was cleaned. Very comfortable apartment. Loved being in the very functional, quaint kitchen. Washer and dryer also a bonus over any hotel. Views from the balcony were a huge bonus - better than any hotel. Perfect location for me, convenient to the tube, train station and my son's dormitory. Would definitely stay again and highly recommend it to others. Andrea is very helpful with ideas for travel and eating.
