Myself and four friends organised a 10 day break to Mexico and stayed in Marielle's apartment. We loved being there and didn't want to leave. The apartment is huge and had all of the facilities we needed. The apartment is nicely located out of Playa so very quiet and peaceful. We only walked into Playa Del Carmen once from the apartment and it took around 25 minutes and in the heat we didn't want to do it again. You can order a taxi from the complex which will cost you 3 times more than if you walk out to the front gates and flag one down - they come often.
The beach front view was incredible to wake up to each morning. The staff around the complex were all very polite and helpful. The common pool area was lovely and relaxing. It was lovely having a hot tub on the balcony. The cleaners who came in a couple of time during our stay did a wonderful job.
I would absolutely recommend this place to anyone.
The apartment is very close to the beach - about a block. It is in a gated community called Playacar. It is very quiet there and there are security officers that ride bikes around. I never felt threatened or like they were needed inside the development or anywhere else in Playa, but they were helpful in finding the building. The address placard on the street was different than the number we were given by Marielle. The beach is public, but not very crowded. We came from Tulum, which is much more serene. It is a peaceful and tree lined 10 minute walk to the chaos that is La Quinta (5th Ave) pedestrian mall. Personally, we liked venturing further West towards 15th or 20th which seemed more like "real Mexico". The pool is shaded and shared with 5 houses, but only 1 other group used it from what we could tell. Amir and Carlos are the managers on site and were very helpful and also worked to keep the large leaves out of the pool, as they seemed to be falling constantly.
The place was clean with great ocean views from the master bedroom and the roof. The house definitely is a bit worn from years of renting it out and now brand new, but we spent most of our time out of the house anyhow and it was more than sufficient when we were there. The bathtub on the roof isn't as nice as the photo makes it appear, but the view of the ocean and the stars, etc from the roof were a great touch. It was nice having a 2nd bedroom for our daughter.
Tips unrelated to this specific property - there aren't typical food markets or produce stands from what we could find. There's just an enormous WalMart near the Palacio Municipal - which is kind of unfortunate. There are more than enough food stands and restaurants within a 10 minute walk though. We rented a car to get around the Yucatan and probably would have saved a few hundred dollars in our 2 week stay just taking taxis, collectivos and/or buses.
This place was as advertised—the beach is literally just outside your door. The house is nice and the kitchen well-stocked with utensils. Fresh water is delivered to your doorstep and a maid comes to clean every morning, and Carlos and Emil are usually around in case anything needs fixing. The one drawback to the place was that the beds were really hard—we ended up putting the futon mattress on top of the regular mattress and that worked out fine. But that is a minor qualm—this place is paradise. All in all, we would definitely love to stay here again.
All in all it was a great experience at Villa Alborada. Marielle was quick to respond to any questions we had. The price was a bit higher than we wanted to pay but at the end of the day the house was amazing and right on the beach. It wasn't 5 star accomodations but it was just fine for our 2 families. The home is about a 15-20 minute walk to the heart of 5th Avenue. Washer and Dryer were very nice and new, fridge and appliances worked great. The maid was great as well and arrived more or less when requested.

Studio Xaguar is a great place to spend a nice, quiet, romantic vacation in Playa Del Carmen. The setting is beautiful and truly steps from the beach. It is located in private neighborhood, I felt very safe at all times. The beach near the studio is perfect! It's a lot less crowded than the areas in front of the small resorts to either side so that was great. We didn't get a chance to meet Marielle but Carlos is a super nice guy and had some good recommendation (one of which was to eat at El Fogon which was also the best tip we got it is amazing!!) Our studio was clean and (website hidden) is also walking distance from 5th ave and the bus station (unless you have a lot of luggage). We wish we would have known this because we didn't know where we were when we arrived and ended up taking a taxi for 70 pesos. Not bad, but when we got our bearings later we realized we could have arrived very easily on foot. If you plan ahead I'm sure you can get directions from Marielle. If you choose Studio Xaguar you will not be dissapointed, It was a wonderful place to call home for our stay in PDC.
This place was great. 1 block from the beach and a short walk from downtown. Very spacious too. Marielle was very professional and handled all out questions and concerns courteously.
We had an amazing time staying in this condo. The location was super convenient - very close to 5 ave so close to restaurants and bars but it was nice that it was around the corner on a quieter street. The rooms are spacious and each one has a nice bathroom attached. The balcony is huge and has an amazing view that makes you feel like you're in a much more remote area. We spent most mornings sitting in the hammocks admiring. On top of all that, everyone who works there is friendly and helpful. I would definitely stay there again next time I go to Playa Del Carmen!
