Timberwood Tiny Home is a place to rest your head & heart in Efland, North Carolina.
The peaceful retreat is down a country road approximately 10-minutes from downtown Hillsborough. The 200 square foot tiny home is on a private corner of 8-acres shared with our main house. It features Scandinavian-style details, two beds, a spacious porch, abundant natural light, a wood-fired hot tub, barrel sauna, cold plunge, and more. There are features of the home that may make it unsuitable for children.
The space
We designed Timberwood Tiny Home to be a retreat for you alone or with a close partner or friend. It's a peaceful place located on an old organic vegetable farm we are working hard to restore to its original glory. We share the property, but the tiny home is across the field from the main house. You may see us in the garden or taking a stroll, but we value privacy as much as we know you all do. However, we are always happy to say hello and offer local recommendations.
The tiny home is small in square footage but big in personality. It features tons of wood and Scandinavian style details. The open, one room interior features white-washed spruce pine and an oak floor. There are two beds - a queen in the main space and a twin in the a-frame loft space, which is accessed by a ladder and does not have a railing. Please note that this space is not safe or suitable for children.
As is most things in a tiny home, the kitchenette is in the main space. It features a two burner induction stove and a small refrigerator and freezer. Because of the small space, we recommend planning for very simple meals that don't require a ton of cooking, enjoying one of the nearby restaurants, or planning a bbq meal outside. We offer beautiful dishes from East Fork pottery. You'll find local coffee, hot chocolate, & a variety of tea options on the shelf. A selection of sweet & savory snacks are included & we will share vegetables from our garden when in season.
The bathroom features a full-sized shower, small vanity, and toilet. It is fully stocked with extra toiletries.
A small TV hangs on the wall and we've already signed you into Netflix. Our Wifi is a pocket wifi system and works better than nearly all others here in the country. We frequently work from home, and it works great.
Outside, you'll find a large porch that's nearly the size of the tiny home itself. We invite you to enjoy the rocking chairs, fire pit and grill. The stars out here are also fantastic.
Behind the home, there's a path that will take you to the cedar wood-fired hot tub, a cold plunge stock tank bath, and a two-person cedar sauna. You'll have to prepare the hot tub and sauna a little ahead of time, but that's perfect for enjoying a glass of wine or popping out for some takeout. Because the space is new, some of the landscaping needs to mature but there is ample privacy. The electric, cedar barrel sauna is truly glorious and heats up to a toasty 150 to 160 degrees in about an hour. You'll have a bucket of farm grown rosemary and water for steaming. All wood necessary for the hot tub is provided. Please note that the hot tub is wood fired and therefore can take several hours to heat fully to temperature. Use of the sauna and hot tub are at your own risk.
This property has brought us so much peace, and we can't wait to share it with you.
Please note that due to a loft without railings, proximity to the farm's electric fence, open fire pit, wood-burning hot tub, and other potential hazards, this home may not be safe and suitable for children. A parent or guardian is ultimately responsible for determining what is safe for the child. They must be included on the reservation and accounted for as part of the maximum three guests. The loft, hot tub, sauna, and pasture and electric fence across from the tiny home are not available to children during their stay.

You will have access to the tiny home, a spacious front porch and gravel area in front of the home as well as a path and back patio. Should you be interested in checking out the chickens, flowers, or garden, feel free to reach out via a message.
Other things to note
We offer a list of items in the house manual that we keep in the main house because of space. Should you need any of these items, please let us know and we will happily drop them at the home for you. Examples include an iron, a blender etc.
