Our house is on the island of St. Antiochus, in Saline at Calasetta. The resort is easily accessible because, despite being an island, S. Antiochus is connected to the rest of Sardinia by a bridge.
It is a semi-detached cottage, on 3 floors: on the ground floor there is the living room with kitchenette, a double bedroom with private balcony overlooking the vineyards, bathroom with shower and a beautiful veranda overlooking the private garden of 300 sqm. On the first floor there is a bedroom furnished with bunk beds, that can easily also be configured as a twin bed or a double and a private balcony overlooking the bay with sea view. This room can be also configured with 3 beds, the bunk bed and a single bed.
The property is completed by a basement, with independent entrance from the garden, equipped with a double bed for two additional sleeps, a private bathroom with shower (and window) and a small laundry area. Also this room can be configured with 3 beds: the ceilings of the basement are 2 mt tall and there is natural lights coming from a window and a windowed door.
The three rooms are therefore intimate and independent, and allow to have privacy to all the guests.
The kitchen is fully equipped - featuring also microwave, toaster etc - and outside you will find a barbecue that you could use in the veranda, which of course is equipped with tables and chairs. The garden is also equipped with deck chairs and sun lounges: it also features an outdoor shower and sink.
The house, despite being surrounded by green, is located 400 meters from the sea and the beautiful beach of Saline can be reached on foot exactly in 5 minutes. It 'an ideal beach for children with low water for several meters and warm weather and water: it is a very relaxed location, the beach is still natural, but you can still find two small bars for a chilly drink.
The town of Calasetta is a 15 minute walk (or 3 min by car) distance and are pharmacies, supermarkets, restaurants and services of all kinds.
Besides the beach of Saline, Calasetta is a perfect starting point to explore the island of St. Antiochus, the island of St. Peter (easily reached by a short ferry ride) and the beautiful south of Sardinia.
Calasetta is easily accessible by boat or plane, being only 1 hr and 30 min drive from Cagliari (where ferries and flights get to) and allows you to enjoy a pristine sea and lush vegetation even in high season.
All costs, final cleaning and consumption, are included in the price. Linen and home towels available on request, free of charge.
Stefania’s semi-detached house easily accommodates three couples or six friends, although eating inside can get a bit cramped then – but who wants to do that in the Mediterranean climate when there’s a spacious veranda (porch) and a terrace (with stray cats)? The kitchenette has everything one needs to prepare a meal or two. It takes at least 15min by car to get to the supermarkets in Sant’Antioco.
You really need just 5 minutes by foot from the house to Saline beach, next to Calasetta’s camping site. Spiaggia Grande to the west and Spiaggia di Sottotorre to the north are also in walking or biking distance, and Cala Lunga is a gem. We visited Sardinia in late September, when foreign tourists have mostly vanished, the weather isn’t too hot and beaches are not brought back immediately to their best shape after nightly storms – there was no rain by daylight.
Cagliari airport is a two-hour drive away. If you just want to enjoy the beaches during your stay, you should once take the route via Iglesias (SS126) and once via Villamassargia to see at least some impressive sceneries on the main island. There, but even more so on the small island of Sant’Antioco, paper maps and street signs, which are sparse in rural areas, sometimes suggest not to take a road that is totally fine. (website hidden) and Bing are okayish, but Open Street Map still lacks lots of details in this area.
Splendido tutto!!!!
Had the privilege of staying in Stefania's little house in Calasetta, Sardinia, for a week in July. The place is a true gem. It is simply but practically furnished and has a very nice garden and patio. It is just a 5 min walk away from a gorgeous beach (Le Saline) and the little fishing village of Calasetta, with a few shops and some good restaurants. Stefania is very responsive and we got a useful information brochure about the house and surroundings a couple of days before arrival - so kind! If you look for the Sardinia of major real estate developments, huge resorts or package tourists, go elsewhere! If you want a true holiday in a well-kept house in an authentic part of Sardinia, and just a stone's throw away from the beach, contact Stefania and go here. You won't regret it! A true find.
