The Space

Private room in a single family home very conveniently located two miles from downtown Napa. This 110 sf room has a recently refinished oak hardwood floor and a 4.5-foot wide window looking out to a hedge of green trees. No rugs, no dust, no funk. Fresh Napa Valley breezes every night. 5-foot closet for you. The twin-size bed has a very comfortable mattress. Bathroom with tub down the hall always available. Shower available in another bathroom, when I’m not sleeping (it’s off my bedroom). The house is 1300 sf on a 0.23 acre lot. Very quiet and secure neighborhood. Cable TV in living room. Plenty of free street parking. Smoking outside only, in the yard. Gas and wood BBQ grills available. Killer breakfasts available for $15 per meal with advance request. Exercise bike available to work it off afterwards! Washer/dryer. Price is for one or two occupants. Two occupants max each night. Come and go as you please 24/7.

Please contact me via an inquiry before you make a reservation request. This is a chemical FRAGRANCE FREE home. I enjoy welcoming guests into my home, but if you wear chemically scented colognes, after shaves, hair sprays, body sprays, or perfumes, I can't. Most stuff with herbal fragrance from Whole Foods or health food stores is okay, but strong chemical fragrances are a non-starter here.

  • Steve was flexible and accommodating. My friend and I arrived early and left earlier than we thought and Steve was completely understanding.

  • I had the most wonderful time at Steve's place in Napa! Steve is a great host and I can only recommend his place. His house is located in a very quite area, very close to the city and easy to find from the highway. It is a perfect place to explore the area and it is quickly connected to San Francisco. I wish I would have stayed longer and chat some more with Steve. But I hope to be back!

  • Steve was very accommodating and the room description was very accurate. My friend and I were able to comfortably share the bed, and the room was larger than I expected. Steve kindly left water for us to drink at night, as well as night-lights throughout the house because we arrived late.
We had a slight misunderstanding, but overall everything was good: great quality for the price.

    Response from Steve:

    Dear Carla,

First of all, thank you for choosing to stay with me. I truly enjoyed getting to know you and Claudia.

I sincerely apologize for the impressions you formed during your stay. It was not my intention to make you feel uncomfortable in any way.

I was not the least bit upset about you using the sink. When I found the sponge from the kitchen counter laying in the middle of the kitchen floor immediately after you washed your wine glasses and retired to your room, I could only imagine that you felt there was something sub-standard about the sponge. So I brought you four new sponges and discarded the one I found on the floor, and I apologized for the condition of the sponge (the sponge was not new and you had every right to). I guess I’m just not accustomed to finding things from the kitchen counter on the floor. I will put out new sponges in the future.

    Thanks for the valuable feedback.

Once again, my deepest apologies and best of luck to you.

  • Steve is a very hospitable and helpful host. He informed us about the many wineries and provided useful maps. We very much enjoyed the nice spontaneous conversation with Steve upon return after our wine tour during which he even offered us drink.
We would highly recommend a stay at his place.

  • Listing was totally accurate, thanks, Steve. Nice neighborhood, so clean! We were close to the BottleRock festival, it saved money, and we met a great guy (Steve) - perfect. Thanks, we hope to be back next time we come to Napa!

  • Steve's place was nice and quiet. We got in pretty late but when we woke up Steve was there and had a great suggestion for a breakfast spot. Wish I had more time to stay and chat with him.

  • I enjoyed my quick visit to Napa. Steve's place was (email hidden)fortable bed, right in town and a quiet street.
Steve was nice and welcoming. I didn't get a chance to talk with him much. I was in and out pretty quickly. But he seems like a great and interesting guy. Next time I go to Napa, I will definitely stay at Steve's place.

  • Steve was a very accommodating and flexible host. The room was clean, as described, and was great alternative to a hotel. I would recommend Steve to others. Due to my oversight (I skimmed the listing) and did not realize the bathroom with the shower is off of Steve's bathroom - due to my timing (arrival late in the evening and early morning departure), I was unable to use the shower. For the price, it was a great deal.

And before that, I was Farm Manager and Vineyard Operator at Oak Hill Vineyards in Healdsburg, Sonoma County. I was responsible for all agricultural operations, land development, chemical recommendations/ applications, and grower/winery liaison, and I delivered up to 300 tons per year to some of the top wineries of the time.
