  • My two friends and I had a great experience staying at Surf and Racquet Club. Being our first time in the Big Island, we thought this was the perfect location for everyday needs (food etc) and tourist points. We stayed for one week and was able to travel all through the Big Island including Hilo, the northern area and Southern Points conveniently with no more than 2h drive to the furthest point. We had originally intended on moving to another location (in Hilo) for the second part of the trip to explore the island but felt so comfortable at the townhome that we decided against the move despite a cheaper price elsewhere. For the location, the townhome is reasonably priced especially for a family. It has everything that you may need for your stay including cooler, beach towels, boogie board, snorkeling gears etc. The house is well maintained and spacious.

Jon was a great host. He responded to my calls promptly. We had a delayed flight and required a (very) late check out and he was very accomodating.

In retrospect these are a few points that made this place convenient: Ab Fab is very close to "the Poke Shack" (best poke), large clean laundry which was very convenient, an available telephone for booking places, cable and wifi because the town shuts down at 9pm, plenty of towels for the beach and in house, two bathrooms and showers!

I would highly recommend this place!

  • The surf and racquet club is conveniently located, near the Keauhou shopping center (great hula show every Friday 6 pm), in a walkable distance to a nice beach and not too far from the city of Kaiula Kona.
The home is comfortable, the living room has air con, which was very pleasant. There is plenty of space for your luggages and there is snorkeling material available.
Also the swimming pool is very nice and you have great views on the ocean from the shoreline.
    The least pleasant points :
The home lacks of lightness., even on a sunny day
The rear garden isn't really private, you can't feel at home.
I didn't see at all my host. I sent a mail about the rice cooker which was broken but I didn't have any answer. We found the welcoming quite impersonal then...

Anyway, it was a nice stay in a pleasant club at a good price.

  • We had a fantastic time at Jon's place. Everything was exactly as he said it would be. It was clean, nicer than the pictures, and felt spacious and refreshing. He really treats "Room 49" as a professional rental and even had great tour guides and magazines available, which we used. Also, being a first time mom, it was fabulous not having to bring all the necessary tools for my infant. Jon had a pack n play, high chair, baby tub available, so it was a breeze! The shopping center nearby made it so easy to stock up on food and grab incidentals.

Thanks Jon, we had a lovely time!

  • Our Stay at the Ab Fab Townhome was great! It was exactly what we needed. Located about 10min south of the town which was good, quite and close to the supermarket. Lots of bath/beach towels and internet provided. There was even a few snorkelling sets in the cupboard for the near by beach. We had everything we need, Thanks Jon!

  • The location is fantastic, less than 10min walk from a great beach to snorkel. The condo is also well stocked, including beach towels and beach gear (chairs, snorkels, and our new addition of a boogie board). Jon is also very communicative and checked up to make sure we were doing well during our stay.
A few things to note- the condo can get pretty warm upstairs since the AC is relatively small and is on the first floor... you'll probably need to make use of the provided fans and ceiling fans. Also, the water heater appears to have a timer on it so if you're trying to take a shower at odd hours you might want to make sure the heater is on :)

  • This property is great -- new, clean, and laden with amenities. We felt like had walked into a hotel room that happened to be an entire townhouse! Towels, toiletries, snorkel equipment, and other amenities were all laid out neatly upon our arrival.

The Surf & Racquet club is picturesque and well-maintained, and in an amazing location at the southern end of Alii Drive -- minutes from Kahalu'u Beach to the north, where you can swim with turtles, and Keahou Bay to the south, where many popular boat & kayak tours depart from.

  • Jon was an amazing host and always kept in contact with us when needed. The place was immaculate and perfect for our stay with our 2 year old. The kitchen was fully stocked with cooking equipment, towels, cleaning supplies, dishes and everything needed. The washer and dryer was awesome to have as well! Cable TV, WiFi and ceiling fans made this place super comfy. The location is awesome, just 3/4 mile from Kahaluu Beach (PERFECT for taking kids too as its safe from the waves and they can play in the water), and 1.5 miles from White Sands Beach which has nice sand and crystal blue water.

    Thanks Jon!!

  • Jon was super accommodating and a great host! We had a baby and 4 adults (including my parents) and were pretty comfortable other than sometimes the heat at night. He bought snorkeling sets for us and had a a pack 'n play, high chairs, and infant bathtub for my 7-month-old daughter. This was a great setup for a family and much better than staying at a hotel! The pool is huge and goes from 1 foot to 7, so perfect for children as well! And it's very close to Kahaluu Beach Park, one of the best beaches for snorkeling.

  • We really enjoyed our stay here. The townhouse was clean and nicely renovated. Jon thought of every detail, including setting out breakfast for us which was great because of our late arrival. We really appreciated the snorkel equipment and beach towels. Jon went out of his way to be helpful and provided lots of hints to make sure we enjoyed our stay. It was lovely to watch the sunset at the beach behind the complex. We would recommend staying here to anyone. There is lots of space for a family and a nice pool. The price was excellent for everything that was provided.

  • This place was awesome! We had this condo all to ourselves and literally everything was provided which is awesome for the price we paid. Easter was coming up so we thoroughly enjoyed the treats provided to us. A stay like this gives me reason to use airbnb again and would definitely choose to stay here again.
