Set on the banks of the Ashuelot River this New England charmer has covered bridge views and 300’ of river front. Put a kayak in, fish from the property or soak in a clawfoot tub. A rail/trail offering cc skiing, mountain biking, running & hiking and connects to the largest state park in NH begins at front door. The house is freshly painted inside and out and thoroughly cleaned between stays. Guests must review and agree to Covid 19 guidlines detailed in "The space" prior to booking.

The space
This renovated 1780's farmhouse exudes charm. Included are new luxurious sheets, comforters, towels, and solid high speed wifi. The kitchen has plenty of cookware. There are three bedrooms, one queen, one full, and one with two twin beds. The house has beautifully refinished wood floors. The walls are original - refinished horsehair plaster. In keeping with a house of this age nothing is perfectly square. The steps to the 2nd floor bedrooms are steeper than most. Children love them. My 90 year father does them slowly. The house is cozy in both summer and winter with zoned heating and ample air conditioning.

Please Note: This is an old house! Nothing is square! The house and landscaping is not designed for people with physical disabilities. I wish I could make it so.

The house is conveniently located between Brattleboro, Vermont, Keene, New Hampshire, and Greenfield, Massachusetts. Northfield Mount Hermon is less than 12 miles away. We want our guests to have a great time and feel as or more comfortable than they do at home. A sanitizing dishwasher and a fancy five burner oven/range are new upgrades

Covid 19 and Dog Policies.
If you have recently been to a crowded beach, a crowded outdoor rally or do not believe it is necessary to wear masks in public where it is impossible to distance appropriately please do not book our home.

*Quarantine period includes going out of your home for essential items only, and wearing a cloth face covering if you are not able to maintain at least 6 feet social distance from other people when outside your home.
Additional Covid Information: Due to the pandemic we have changed our minimum stay length to 5 days and have substantially increased cleaning protocols.
Dog Policy:
The house has beautiful mid 1700's wide board pine floors. Dogs and owners that can not be controlled and are likely to race around the house, play tug of war and risk damaging the house and floors are not allowed.
Please let us know the breed, age, and temperament of your dog. The house is extensively cleaned between visits. There will be no indication that pets have been in the house when you arrive.
Dogs that are accepted must be:
Well brushed before arrival with nails trimmed. Dogs are not allowed on the furniture. We may ask for an additional damage deposit based on the size, weight, and age of your dog.
A large lint brush & dog towel will be left for travelers with pets. Your deposit will not be refunded if extensive cleaning is required after your stay. Thankfully we have never had to withhold a deposit for any reason!

Guest access
Guests have private access to the house. The yard along the river can be used for fishing, setting in a kayak, croquet, barbecue, etc.
The laundry area has private access and is shared with the hosts.

Other things to note
Walk out the front door and catch trout or put your kayak in. The property abuts the Ashuelot covered bridge and is connected to an extensive network of biking, hiking, and cross country skiing trails. The largest state park in NH is minutes away. Bring goggles for swimming. The magic of the underwater gardens are impossible to describe.
The fireplaces are not safe and can not be used.

Ashuelot is a sleepy little town. The house is across the street from the Ashuelot Public Library and is between the Ashuelot Post Office and the Ashuelot Covered Bridge. There are wonderful restaurants and co-ops close by in Keene, NH and Brattleboro Vermont. A full binder of menu's and area attractions is in the house. We suggest guests stock up on groceries prior to arrival.
