Guest Access

The house is yours! Cook a festive meal in this fully equipped kitchen, or use the bicycles to ride to a local restaurant down the street.

Interaction with Guests

I believe that my guests like to have their privacy and enjoy the place that they rented. I'm nearby for any issue, but not "right next door" which can feel a little inhibiting.

The Neighborhood

FOOTSTEPS to the best of Sausalito: Caledonia Street and Princess Street shops; and some of San Francisco's top restaurants: Sushi Ran, Cibo, and Scoma’s and many more.

NEAR ALL THE ACTION and some of the best live music venues in Marin: the no name bar, Seahorse Music Café and Caffe Divino; and all the activities: Sea Trek (paddling rentals), Tour de Sausalito (bike rentals), Yoga of Sausalito and the Modern Sailing School. Now you can rent high end bicycle road bikes just down the street at Bicycle Odyessy. Get your training ride in to Point Reyes through beautiful West Marin County!

Getting around

This is the most convenient, centrally located place to see all the sights on foot or by car!

On Foot:
-- Go anywhere in Sausalito on Foot. You're right there!
-- Take the bicycles and ride 20 minutes on a separated bike path to quaint Mill Valley
--Take bus to San Francisco from right across the street
-- Enjoy the San Francisco bay on the ferry to San Francisco. A 5 minute walk to the ferry and a 30 minute ride to downtown SF!

By Car:
-- Park in the carport right in front of the house.
--15 minute drive to San Francisco across the beautiful Golden Gate Bridge
-- Visit Muir Woods, Stinson Beach or the Wine Country of Napa. All less than an hour drive.
-- 30 minute drive to San Francisco Airport

Other Things to Note

We provide a coffee maker, although there are three excellent coffee brewers within a block. As Jane commented, we had a bit of an issue with a local skunk many months ago now (around the corner from us, not in the apt). The place has been painted and the carpets replaced. No more skunk smell.

  • My Husband and I and our 1.5yr old stayed here and it was wonderful!! The location is ridiculously awesome (especially for the price) in the heart of downtown Sausalito! It was so great to wake up every morning to such stunning views! This is my new favorite place to come when visiting the San Francisco area. It's a 5 minute walk to the ferry (so you don't have to fight traffic in the city...which is great when you have kids). Also there is so many restaurants and shops that you really don't need to go anywhere else...We walked everywhere!
There is so many fun coffee shops and little markets so close. A couple nights we just stayed in and cooked dinner...which was as nice as going out because the balcony has great views and it's a wonderful spot to enjoy a glass of wine!
The place was clean and comfortable. The kitchen was upgraded and awesome! We cooked in it a lot...plenty of pots, pans dishes and anything else you need.
Overall our stay was wonderful! Steve was a a great host making sure we were taken care of without invading our privacy...we didn't actually meet him but we did communicate through Airb&B and he was great about getting back to us! We would definitely stay here again!

  • My parents, husband and I had a great stay at Steve's beautiful and cosy place. We found everything we needed and enjoyed warming up at the fireplace after a rainy day in San Francisco. Restaurants, grocery stores, cafes, bus stop and the ferry are in walking distance.
For us it was the perfect place to stay.

  • We rented Steve's place during Christmas and stayed for a week. Great location, nice view, place was clean and well stocked with everything we needed. The electric fireplace was cozy, adding to our enjoyment. The apt was small but the space was used well maximizing all the sq footage, updated Kitchen and bathrooms. Master bedroom closet space was well designed and spacious. There were four of us, two adults and two grown kids, we were very comfortable. As other mentioned, there was still a dank, foul smell and the upstairs carpets were dirty. We also arrived to full trash bins and ran out of receptacle space early in our stay. We reached out to Steve about this and a couple of other minor things, he was always receptive and helpful, solving the issue almost immediately. One other slight annoyance was the noise factor above the kids room, the tenants above were loud, making it hard to sleep on some nights. There were decks off every room which was great but they were dirty and there was no patio furniture. It would've been nice to sit out there to enjoy morning coffee or an afternoon beverage but it wasn't clean and there was nowhere to sit. All in all this was a pleasant stay and a good experience working with Steve. Would recommend to others as a great getaway in Sausalito.

  • We had a great time celebrating our 10th Anniversary in San Francisco! We wanted a relaxing location to stay that was close to the city and this place was PERFECT!!! The location was ideal, right in downtown Sausalito and right across the street from a great local spot for breakfast/lunch/dinner. They even had an organic espresso bar. Since we traveled with our kids and my mom the 2bdrm w/bunk-beds was great. My son was ecstatic that he got to sleep on a bunk-bed. Steve was very accommodating, answered all my questions and greeted us the day we arrived making sure we knew how to work everything. The house was clean and in nice condition for us. The only negative for me was that there was a slight odor, I think another reviewer mentioned it. I know the downstairs carpets were recently replaced so it might have to do with that, but it didn't keep us from enjoying our weekend. We've already recommended the location to friends and would stay there again.

  • While the location was great and Steve was very helpful with making arrangements and answering my emails before our arrival, the condition of the condo upon our arrival was disappointing.

    1. The carpet was DIRTY. The number of stains were too many to count. Some of the dishes in the cabinet were dirty.
    2. The first floor smelled of dead animal. Either some of the stains were pet related or there was a dead animal somewhere in the condo. We met the cleaning person on Saturday and she mentioned that she had said to Steve that something smells in the condo. Apparently nothing was done. The smell became progressively worse as the stay went on.
    3. The fire alarm was absent from the ceiling hook-up.
    4. I purchased hand soap for the bathroom because the dispenser was empty. And I purchased air freshener, which didn't help the smell.
    5. We arrived late Wednesday. I contacted Steve around noon on Thursday and when he didn't reply, I called and left a message. He called me back on Friday afternoon. I presented the situation and he agreed to refund the cleaning fee, which I haven't seen yet.

  • Very comfortable! Waterview of the marina from MBR balcony. Parking was convenient. Near waterfront, shops, and restaurants! My friends and I enjoyed the apartment. Take your own coffee maker!!

  • We had a great experience staying at Steve's place. The location was great, it truly is walking distance to everything we needed and the accommodations were just as pictured on the website. Everything was clean and orderly. My children loved being able to sleep in a bunkbed and we enjoyed the nice views of the marina!
The little Italian place across the street was a great place for dinner and drinks. Steve was easy to contact and very helpful.

  • My parents, my 14 year old daughter and my sister and I stayed at Steve's waterfront flat for three nights. It was exactly what we were looking for and the location surpassed our expectations. We had been touring the California coast for two weeks but when at this property in Sausalito, were able to stow the car in the designated parking space below the building and go everywhere on foot. The Golden Gate Ferry terminal is less than a 10 minute walk, The Spinnaker restaurant is even closer than that, and the Sausalito house boats and lovely waterfront shops are a walkable distance too. The entrance to the property is a little misleading and looks a bit run down but the apartment itself is very nicely done up. There are three balconies; two with views of the water and one quite private one off the second bedroom. The second bedroom was much larger than I expected and the beds were comfortable, as was the living area. The flat was clean and tidy and I would recommend it especially for location and value for money. The next time I'm in Sausalito, I'll hope to stay here!

  • This was an excellent property to stay at if you are looking for something easy, accessible for San Francisco, but also a nice retreat from the madness of the city. The apartment is clean, cosy, and was perfect for us as a family of 5. It's also right on the main street and so stepping out to enjoy local shops and restaurants is lovely, and the ferry is only 5 mins walk. Communications with Steve were also great - fast and easy. We would thoroughly recommend this apartment and would have no hesitation in booking it again on future trips to the area.

I grew up in San Francisco, but have made Sausalito my home. Its rich history and connection to all things watersport are why I love to be here. A sailor from a young age, I have recently taken up outrigger canoeing and stand-up paddleboard. I’m an avid cyclist who uses his car as little as possible while enjoying the many wonderful bikeways of Marin County. I’m a history buff who’s not shy about talking politics, religion or economics and I follow the markets closely. I’m happy to share an insider’s knowledge of the Bay Area’s history, biking trails or local hot spots.
