Dominique wasn't around, but Jean-Christoph contact us days before we arrived, he even prepare some milk and juice for us. The room is cozy, the bath room is clean. Thanks again!!
Great apartment, convenient location (although not very nice, but safe enough as to walk there at night), and very affordable. It would be nice if the person who lives next door respects re fact that the room is private and doesn't come in when you are inside de room. Despite that, I recommend the place
Great room. Super clean, warm and spacious. Its not in the heart of the city, but totally walkable, and the tranports to everywhere are only a 5min. walk. definitly recommended!
We had a great time. Dominique walked down to welcome us, showed us on how to use the entry codes, corridor lighting etc. The bed was really cozy, access to internet was fast enough, there was a laptop with (website hidden) in it, local maps, metro maps, fresh towels, running hot water, microwave, coffee maker etc.
We were able to wash our clothes and dry them. Infact, we put the clothes on dryer and slept off in tiredness and when we woke up mid night to check on the same we saw the clothes kept on the door.
I see a few people cribbing about the foul smell on corridor and wooden planks on bath. Lets get one fact straight, Paris is expensive to stay, very expensive, especially in La Chapelle, with walk distance to Gare du Nord, think of all the money you save. Moreover, the stench wasnt that bad. Metro was not that noisy, I being a person with very very sensitive sleeping habits had a nice sleep.
I would definitely recommend Dominique!!
It was a nice room! Just nice for 2 people. Quite near to the metro!
There was an awful tobacco smell that came from the entrance hall. That was because the man who lives in the other room of the apartmet was ALWAYS smoking and used to leave his door open sometimes.
The breakfast consisted of some milk and orange juice left in the fridge the day I entered the apartment and and some crackers and pieces of fruit that the person who cleans the room used to leave on the table every two or three days. Nothing more.
The internet connection did not work properly so I couldn't connect my mobile phone to the wi-fi.
The person who cleans the apartment washed some of my NEW clothes despite i didn't tell anybody to do it. It was very kind of him but two of my new levi's t-shirts got damaged with the wash.
The door lock failed when i came back one night to the apartment and i couldn't open it. After one hour and a half I could finally enter the apartment with the help of two very kind neighbours. The person who is supposed to help you in case of emergency didn't answer the phone.
Some parts of the bathroom walls in the bathtub were patched with wood planks, which gave a horrible impression and was definitely not very higienic.
The room is well located and connected to the city center. You just have a 10 mins walk to the metro station and then about 15 mins. in line 4 to the city center.
We stayed at Dominique's just for one night .
Apartament's location is excellent for being close to metropolitan , Eurostar , Moulin Rouge. There are very nice little shops , coffeterias , restaurants around Moulen Rouge's area. We had our morning cofee with creme brûlée nearby (what a treat !!!) and bought all presents for close ones from there.
Bed is so comfy , that we overslept our arrangements to start explore Paris early in the morning :) . Shutters hides an apartament from nearby rails noice at night .
Apartment itself is not a 5***** hotel , but for price we payed we got everything . So overal ratting I can say is good. More positive things than negative . I recomend that place for people who are on budget and don't expect it to be posh.
Thanks for hosting us , Dominique:)
Our stay was great! Also even if we arrived more than an hour late because of the flight, we were welcomed really well! Recommended x
Overall I had a good experience at Dominique's place. There were a few glitches at first, but his dear friends May & Jean-Christophe helped resolve most of them. I was a little disconcerted that Dominique was not there because one of the reasons I chose this place was that I read the reviews where people said he was very helpful about letting guests know more about the area and that he spoke English. Since it was my first time in Paris on my own, and I have very limited French, I was really relying on being able to discuss possible outings and routes to the city with Dominique. Instead I was all on my own. I had trouble trying to find the exact apartment that I was going to. To my knowledge I was only given the address, not the apartment number OR the codes to get through the two doors. The first day I came the doors were both open and there was a woman who spoke only French and when I said “Dominique?” she pointed to the elevator and said "cinq". Once I got to the 5th floor I had NO IDEA which of the MANY doors I should knock on... but an angel must have been with me as I knocked on the correct door! His friend, Jean- Christophe greeted me in the room when I arrived, he was very kind and he showed me the basket of maps left by Dominique and asked me if I had any questions (!!!???) I asked a few and then he was gone. The second time I returned to the apartment building I was locked out of both doors.I waited for a long time for someone to come out. I explained this to his friend May, using my computer translation to Thai, and he then gave me the codes.
The room was fine for me. It’s in a very eclectic neighborhood, which I enjoyed. There are some wonderful restaurants nearby. I felt very safe and when I closed the electric blind at night I could hardly hear the trains. The internet worked well and there was good hot water. The bed is very large and comfortable. The juice and coffee were much appreciated. Like I said Dominique's friends are very kind. the microwave wasn’t working when I got there, but May got on it and by the 3rd day it was replaced with a new one.
