It's a small town in a rural area with a laid back atmosphere but can get very busy at times during summer. I love the historic quarters and of course, the famous Lascaux caves. There is no through traffic in the street, which is only meters city centre. It's a perfect compromise to be based in a peaceful place but having the right exposure to French life.
No public transport as such. Car is required. Bike hire is round the corner.
Welcome in our self catering holiday flat with private access! The garden is shared, you have your seating area and BBQ reserved for you. Arrival times and check out times are as usual 10am and 4pm, please tell us if you have other requirements.

I love this apartment. It's so unique and beautiful. The balcony, garden and the cat are an added bonus. (Not to worry, if you don't like cats, she will leave you alone.) Montignac is the perfect town to be a base for a trip to the Dordogne and Vezere valleys: close to the major sights, quiet and small, but with enough amenities to make me wish I lived there. Vera is a great host. I wish we'd asked her advice earlier in our trip about where to go as she is clearly very knowledgeable about all the things that make the area so special. I could have spent days just reading the books in the house about prehistoric art. Highly recommended!
About the Host, Vera
Originally from Germany, I moved to the area more than 20 years ago. I'm a translator and language teacher and I love literature and art, history and prehistory, gardening and food. We love having visitors, we had only wonderful people coming to stay and some of them have turned into friends!
