This room offers a European hotel style stay in a studio-like room. It is in a great location with four nearby subway lines that provide quick access to Manhattan and just off of Franklin Ave, Brooklyn's most dynamic dining and drinking corridor.
The large room has a trundle bed (a twin with another twin under it that can come out and up to form a king), table and chairs, armchair and kitchenette area with refrigerator, microwave and coffee maker (only - no sink or stove). There is a high-definition television with basic channels as well as Netflix and Hulu Plus streaming services.
To get to the room you don't need to enter anyone's private space so you can have as discreet and private a stay as you like (e.g. no issues with coming home very late.)
The room faces south and is in the rear of the building so it has lovely light, is quiet with view of leafy trees.
The bathroom is off the hall just outside the room and is shared with one other person staying on your floor.
***Note: The room is great for couples coming for a few days or a week or so. Its also great for one person for a sublet of up to three months, but we don't recommend it for a couple for this longer duration***
Interaction with Guests
Your hosts live downstairs and are New York City lovers who can provide numerous insider tips so you can get the most of your visit. However, we both work, you'll be doing a lot of sightseeing, and we have a self check-in system - so there's a chance we won't see terribly much of each other.
The room is in a lovely brownstone on a tree-lined block in historic Crown Heights just off the exciting commercial strip of Franklin Avenue that has a great selection of cafe's, restaurants and shops. Beautiful Eastern Parkway, the Brooklyn Museum, Brooklyn Botanic Garden and Prospect Park are a walk away.
The whole city is at your finger tips as four subway stations are within walking distance (C at Franklin Ave (Fulton St), 2/3/4/5 at Franklin Ave (Eastern Parkway), A at Nostrand Ave and S at Park Place)
Rule 1: Have a good time!
Rule 2: Don't worry about being discrete - leaving early coming home late - your room is apartment like and you don't need to go through anyone's space to get there.
Rule 3: No smoking
Great room and awesome location - with C trains just 5 min walk and 2,3,4,5 just around 10 min away. The room is just as showed, very comfy and extremely private, just like we wanted.
I believe the toilet could use some fixings, but once you get used to it is just fine! We were supposed to share the toilet with someone else, but it was always available when we needed it, so we feel it was just for us. Ryan was a great host, and provided everything we needed as fast as he could. Check-in and check-out went smooth as well.
We loved our 10 days stay, and we can't wait to come back!
- I went to NY with my brother so Ryan organised 2 single beds, which was great;
-Towels are provided;
- There is a hairdryer - european plug;
-There are plates, mugs, cutlery, etc. and also a kettle;
- Netflix is a great plus after an exhaustive day!
Had a brilliant time staying with R J. He welcome me despite my flight being delayed by 5 hours (!) and arriving fairly late - with a great recommendation for dinner on the first evening.
Room is lovely and very accurate to description. Also very warm which was great given the snow! Bed very comfortable and decor very tasteful - a great base for a few days exploring New York.
Subway is convenient - a few minutes walk away - with excellent coffee shops and restaurants along the way :)
Overall a fantastic stay - first AirBnB experience as a solo traveller - very glad I chose R J as a host.
Ellen was very friendly and helpful when we arrived and left. We never met Ryan in person, but he was very easy and quick in communicating with us beforehand. The room was perfect for our 5 days stay and exactly as you can see it at the pictures. The neighborhood is very safe and only a couple of minutes walk to the subway station.
We spent 10 days in NYC. The room was very comfortable and nice. It was situated in a really good position of the city and near the subway. Ryan is a really kind and frendly person, he helped us when we had answers. We think that the holiday was great value for money.
Our stay was unfortunatelly very sad because of my ilness. I had to stay half a day in a hospital before our arrive to this flat and we could come till after midnight. During the day (when I stayed in the hospital) my husband went for the key which was quite easy to find acording RJ´s instruction. During my stay there I could only lay up and sleep. I was very glad that nobody was disturbing me because I was in need to be in silence and without contact with anybody. RJ was very tolerant and akcepted my bad situation. The room was nice and clean. I hope I will spend there in the future more possitive time as a healthy tourist.

Great brownstone home in a superb location. Ryan was lovely and very accommodating to us whilst we stayed for 8 days. The room has ample space for storage and the fridge and microwave were a great feature. Netflix was a bonus and a nice way to end a solid day in town.
The bathroom is shared however it was very private with easy access right next door from the room. Central heating was great at night. Towels were provided which was nice. All in all a really lovely home with a fantastic host, easy location - close to 3 different subway lines and a very cosy room with an extremely comfy bed. Our trip to NY was complete with this stay. It was nice to be out of Manhattan to be honest, away from the hustle and bustle. Roscos pizza is a definite must if you stay here, only 2 blocks away !!
Thanks Ryan. Will definitely recommend you to our friends.

I stayed one week in the Lovely Private Room. The arrival procedure by using the keybox went smoothly, no problems at all. The room had been left behind clean and cosy, I felt at home right away. In the evening mr. Russo came to see and check if everything was o.k. During my stay Mr. Russo checked once again by text message if I was still convenient, which I appreciated very much.
Guests have to take into account the bathroom has to be shared with the person who lives in the adjacent room. People talking in the other room can be heard sometimes which for me was no problem at all (but if you need total silence and privacy a hotel will be the better option). To my opinion the bathroom could need a little update. The neighbourhood is safe and a very interesting mix of 'old and new places and people' which I enjoyed very much!
Many thanks to the hosts for having a very pleasant time in their home!

We (my wife and I) have very much enjoyed hosting over these last two years. We love New York and Brooklyn and can provide insider tips on getting the most from your visit. Our neighborhood has a lot to offer and we enjoy sharing our home and the joy that our guests have gotten from our local offerings.
We have young children so that keeps us busy. But we have a lot of fun taking advantage of all Brooklyn has to offer - great parks, great people and great neighborhoods.
We have also travelled a few times with AirBnb and had great experiences with other hosts.
