About this listing
This room offers a European hotel style stay in a studio-like room. It is in a great location with four nearby subway lines that provide quick access to Manhattan and just off of Franklin Ave, Brooklyn's most dynamic dining and drinking corridor.
The large room has a trundle bed (a twin with another twin under it that can come out and up to form a king), table and chairs, armchair and kitchenette area with refrigerator, microwave and coffee maker (only - no sink or stove). There is a high-definition television with basic channels as well as Netflix and Hulu Plus streaming services.
To get to the room you don't need to enter anyone's private space so you can have as discreet and private a stay as you like (e.g. no issues with coming home very late.)
The room faces south and is in the rear of the building so it has lovely light, is quiet with view of leafy trees.
The bathroom is off the hall just outside the room and is shared with one other person staying on your floor.
***Note: The room is great for couples coming for a few days or a week or so. Its also great for one person for a sublet of up to three months, but we don't recommend it for a couple for this longer duration***
Interaction with Guests
Your hosts live downstairs and are New York City lovers who can provide numerous insider tips so you can get the most of your visit. However, we both work, you'll be doing a lot of sightseeing, and we have a self check-in system - so there's a chance we won't see terribly much of each other.
The room is in a lovely brownstone on a tree-lined block in historic Crown Heights just off the exciting commercial strip of Franklin Avenue that has a great selection of cafe's, restaurants and shops. Beautiful Eastern Parkway, the Brooklyn Museum, Brooklyn Botanic Garden and Prospect Park are a walk away.
The whole city is at your finger tips as four subway stations are within walking distance (C at Franklin Ave (Fulton St), 2/3/4/5 at Franklin Ave (Eastern Parkway), A at Nostrand Ave and S at Park Place)
Rule 1: Have a good time!
Rule 2: Don't worry about being discrete - leaving early coming home late - your room is apartment like and you don't need to go through anyone's space to get there.
Rule 3: No smoking
Ryan and his wife paid attention to our needs and answered easily to our questions, just a shame we met Ryan only once because they seem to have a nice family.
The place permit privacy though and is quite confortable (private kitchen helped a lot )
I stayed for 7 nights with my son at R J s place and we enjoyed every minute of our trip to New York,thanks to the knowledge that we had a comfortable appartment waiting for us after a long days sightseeing.
We had a different room to the one advertised,due to some renovations,but it was basically an upgrade as we had a full kitchen.The room was clean and pleasant,the air con was great on the hot and humid days,and the wifi worked well.Having our own keys to the house meant we could come and go as we pleased.
The neighbourhood was great..lots of late night Delis,Restaurants,Cafes and Bars..as well as a great Park and the Brooklyn Museum nearby.The Subway was 5 minutes walk...15 minutes to (email hidden)d going home via JFK was easy with the Subway and Air Train (save yourselves the 50 Dollar Taxi !).
Although we did not get to see a lot of RJ and his family,they made us feel very welcome , and we can highly recommend their accomodation to all future New York visitors.
RJ and his family were nice, helpful and discrete. We've been relocated to another flat upstairs because there was a problem with the initial one but it was just fine. Check-in and check-out are very easy and the location in Brooklyn is perfect, near from some animated streets. Recommended !
We had a really great stay. There are two rooms available and we stayed in the third floor room which has a full kitchen and shared bathroom. Room was well fitted and very clean, and everything we needed for a short stay. There are lots of great restaurants within a 5-10 minute walk.
I and my friend stayed one week at Ryan's place and the place is like explained in Airbnb. We had everything we needed and the beds are comfortable.
We had great time living as Brooklyners since the place is with private entrance.
It was easy to take the subway to Manhattan and to all the sights.
We also traveled by subway from and to JFK airport. Only problem is that there is no lift at most of stations. So you carry your luggage in stairs!
We'll recommend this place to our friends and would happily come back!
Great room and awesome location - with C trains just 5 min walk and 2,3,4,5 just around 10 min away. The room is just as showed, very comfy and extremely private, just like we wanted.
I believe the toilet could use some fixings, but once you get used to it is just fine! We were supposed to share the toilet with someone else, but it was always available when we needed it, so we feel it was just for us. Ryan was a great host, and provided everything we needed as fast as he could. Check-in and check-out went smooth as well.
We loved our 10 days stay, and we can't wait to come back!
- I went to NY with my brother so Ryan organised 2 single beds, which was great;
-Towels are provided;
- There is a hairdryer - european plug;
-There are plates, mugs, cutlery, etc. and also a kettle;
- Netflix is a great plus after an exhaustive day!

About the Host, R J
We (my wife and I) have very much enjoyed hosting over these last two years. We love New York and Brooklyn and can provide insider tips on getting the most from your visit. Our neighborhood has a lot to offer and we enjoy sharing our home and the joy that our guests have gotten from our local offerings.
We have young children so that keeps us busy. But we have a lot of fun taking advantage of all Brooklyn has to offer - great parks, great people and great neighborhoods.
We have also travelled a few times with AirBnb and had great experiences with other hosts.
