This newly renovated basement apartment is located in a classic 1923 home 2 blocks from the exciting Alberta Arts District. You have your own private entrance at the side of the house and there is a second door which leads you into the basement apartment. The space is designed to be contemporary in style and yet peaceful in ambience, with warm colors and a mix of carpet and hardwood throughout. With a large fully equipped kitchen, comfortable living room with cable television and DVD player, uniquely designed bathroom and an extremely cozy bedroom, this apartment will appeal to many who are looking for the perfect vacation rental.
The Alberta neighborhood is packed with restaurants, bars, cafes, bakeries and retail shops. There is the Alberta Rose Theater that has great shows and performances and of course plenty of galleries showing great local art work. During the summer months, the largest street fair in Portland takes place every Last Thursday which is an event not to be missed. However a 30 second walk from my house takes you to a small neighborhood corner that has Pok Pok Noi and Grain and Gristle, two of the best reviewed restaurants in Portland. There is also a coffee shop and two bars located there. There are also plenty of parks in the area, four of which are within walking or cycling distance.
If you need to stock up on groceries there is 'Whole Foods' grocery store which is located at the bottom of the hill from me and there is also the local favorite 'New Seasons' and 'Safeway', both of which are five minutes away. We also have our own Farmers Market every Sunday between 9am and 2pm from March through October and it's located 8 blocks away.
If you are driving, there is plenty of parking on Going which is the cross street 20 feet from my house. However my house is also conveniently located right on the bus line with the bus stop being right across the street. This line takes you straight to downtown without having to change buses in less then 30 minutes. Need a Zip car? There is a stop right off Alberta two blocks away.
I am a very accommodating and easy going host who is more than happy to answer your questions and give you insight into all the fun activities and sights that Portland has to offer. I look forward to welcoming you to my home. Whether you are here for an active holiday or a peaceful getaway, I am sure my apartment will be the perfect home away from home.
There is no smoking inside the house however you are welcome to smoke outside. Unfortunately we do not allow any pets.
We had a lovely stay at this Alberta Arts apt. Aysha was very nice and helpful with any questions that we had. The apartment is clean, creative and quite but still an easy walk to cafes and bars.
My host made me feel very comfortable. The neighborhood was great and the apartment was very clean and stylish - really enjoyed staying there
Aysha was an excellent host and her home was beautifully prepared. From the first text message to day we left, everything was convenient and professional. We visited friends staying at a hotel in Portland and were very happy we chose to stay with Aysha.
We absolutely loved staying here. The suite is exactly as the pictures show, if not better. Everything was extremely spotless and brand new with the recent renovations. It's super cozy and has everything you need upon arrival. We also noticed that the kitchen had everything if you wanted to cook. We were only here for 2 nights and ate out every meal, but would definitely cook if we come back and stay longer next time. Aysha wasn't home when we arrived but had emailed us full instructions of how to get in, which made it super easy, and she even offered for us check in early since we were arriving earlier that (website hidden), wifi, towels - she made everything so easy for us and we felt at home.
We also loved staying in the Arts District, so many adorable shops, restaurants and cafes. A really fun area to explore, and easy to walk from the house. Aysha also left a binder with useful information and recommendations about the area, which was super helpful for our first time visiting. When we did meet Aysha, she was so nice and welcoming, made sure we had everything we needed and offered recommendations on places to go if we wanted.
Overall, fantastic experience, we will definitely be back to stay here again and have already recommended it to friends.
Our host was welcoming when we arrived and introduced us to a fabulously renovated private 1- bedroom apartment with every detail to insure comfort for guests. Although on the lower level, the space still has plenty of light and a well furnished contemporary style. A fully appliances kitchen, bath amenities, comfortable living/dining and bedroom areas and use of washer/dryer facilities, along with detailed instructions on living in the space, made for a great home away from home. The host notebook helped introduce the home and the neighborhood amenities. Clearly, the host takes great pride in offering a clean, comfortable, safe and beautiful accommodation. We would definitely stay again!
Aysha was extremely helpful and welcoming. She made it clear that she was available if we needed anything but was not "pushy" in any way, which we, at least, appreciated. Since this was my first Airbnb reservation, I had some initial problems with the website and she was very understanding.
The space is even better than the photos indicate. It is very well thought out, clean and modern. The kitchen and bedroom, in particular, are spacious and fully equipped.
The location, just a few blocks off Alberta, gives you access to the full Portlandia experience. I also enjoyed walking around the side streets, looking at the Craftsman houses and beautiful gardens. Driving, walking or taking a bus (which we did not do) provide quick access to downtown, freeways and the surroundings.
We will definitely try to stay here on future visits; it could not be more comfortable and convenient. My only caution is that the landing and stairs leading down to the space are quite small and this may pose a problem for some.
What a beautiful apartment in a really fun part of town.
Aysha was a gracious hostess and provided all of the amenities that we would need. From the super comfy bed to the lovely bright bathroom, we felt right at home.
Every attention to detail was wonderful and we would love to come back. As well as recommending to friends that might be visiting Portland.
I first came to Portland thinking I would only stay for a few months. 20 years later I am still here and loving every minute of it. It's a great city that I have no doubt you will also fall in love with.
