About this listing
This newly renovated basement apartment is located in a classic 1923 home 2 blocks from the exciting Alberta Arts District. You have your own private entrance at the side of the house and there is a second door which leads you into the basement apartment. The space is designed to be contemporary in style and yet peaceful in ambience, with warm colors and a mix of carpet and hardwood throughout. With a large fully equipped kitchen, comfortable living room with cable television and DVD player, uniquely designed bathroom and an extremely cozy bedroom, this apartment will appeal to many who are looking for the perfect vacation rental.
The Alberta neighborhood is packed with restaurants, bars, cafes, bakeries and retail shops. There is the Alberta Rose Theater that has great shows and performances and of course plenty of galleries showing great local art work. During the summer months, the largest street fair in Portland takes place every Last Thursday which is an event not to be missed. However a 30 second walk from my house takes you to a small neighborhood corner that has Pok Pok Noi and Grain and Gristle, two of the best reviewed restaurants in Portland. There is also a coffee shop and two bars located there. There are also plenty of parks in the area, four of which are within walking or cycling distance.
If you need to stock up on groceries there is 'Whole Foods' grocery store which is located at the bottom of the hill from me and there is also the local favorite 'New Seasons' and 'Safeway', both of which are five minutes away. We also have our own Farmers Market every Sunday between 9am and 2pm from March through October and it's located 8 blocks away.
If you are driving, there is plenty of parking on Going which is the cross street 20 feet from my house. However my house is also conveniently located right on the bus line with the bus stop being right across the street. This line takes you straight to downtown without having to change buses in less then 30 minutes. Need a Zip car? There is a stop right off Alberta two blocks away.
I am a very accommodating and easy going host who is more than happy to answer your questions and give you insight into all the fun activities and sights that Portland has to offer. I look forward to welcoming you to my home. Whether you are here for an active holiday or a peaceful getaway, I am sure my apartment will be the perfect home away from home.
There is no smoking inside the house however you are welcome to smoke outside. Unfortunately we do not allow any pets.
Aysha's apartment was an ideal space for our first experience in Portland. Not only was it clean, modern and beautiful but also it was conveniently located to the No. 8 bus, which gets you downtown in 20 minutes, or you can explore a ton in the surrounding Alberta Arts district. You definitely don't need a car staying at Aysha's home. We absolutely enjoyed our stay and highly recommend it.
As always, Aysha is a wonderful host! I've stayed with her a few times and her apartment is my go to place to stay.
Aysha's place is absolutely perfect and ideally situated in NE Portland. Not only is it a short walk to lively Alberta street, but it's easily navigable (we rented bikes) to and from other parts of Portland. It's cozy, comfortable, and quite accurately represented online...and Aysha is an awesome host with a welcoming presence. There's also a cool ass cat named DibDib and, quite possibly, the greatest shower around. We'll definitely be staying there again. Also, Pok Pok Noi is only about a one minute walk, in case you get a hankering for some chicken wings!
I felt very welcome. Aysha was available for anything I needed.
The suite is newly renovated, spotless, and very comfortable.
The neighbourhood! It's fantastic. Two blocks from Alberta Street with everything you need by way of organic food with access to shops, boutiques, and great restaurants. I will return!
We loved our stay here. The location is perfect, just two blocks away from Alberta, right on the bus line, but quiet. The basement unit stayed relatively cool in 90-degree-plus weather, and a good fan on hand ensured our comfort. Comfortable bed, so much space, and beautifully appointed. Aysha has great taste! She made us feel welcome. I felt she was available whenever we needed her but never intrusive. I cannot wait until our next stay!
It was perfect staying here! Very clean and lots of space for two people to stay. Didn't feel like we were in basement apartment. Lots of natural light! It was also very convenient and really close to a lot of different places to check out. We had rental car which was never hard finding a parking spot on nearby side streets.
Aysha was a great host! Touched base with us a couple of times during our stay to make sure everything was ok. We would definitely stay here again!

About the Host, Aysha
I first came to Portland thinking I would only stay for a few months. 20 years later I am still here and loving every minute of it. It's a great city that I have no doubt you will also fall in love with.
