Our experience was beyond anything we had expected! The place was perfect, incredibly set into the jungle setting with sounds of wildlife and the ocean, views all around, peace, comfort, privacy, and just a few minutes walk to the beach. We loved having a little kitchen so we could prepare our own food with the options of the wonderful restaurants close at hand. Kai was an incredibly gracious host, taking us to the pharmacy, giving us the inside scoop for places to eat, and even drove us to a fantastic black sand beach. We enjoyed getting to know Kai and his wife, Ruth very much. Kai has created something very special here and we do plan to come back. We can't recommend Kai and his home enough. PURA VIDA!
My wife and I stayed at Kai's casita for 8 nights, and we had an amazing time. The beautiful (and very quiet) beach is a short 5 minute walk from his property. There were howler monkeys in the tree tops several mornings, along with a variety of other wildlife.
The casita itself is a very cool little place to stay. Complete with a fridge and hotplate, we did quite a bit of our own cooking. There is a small mini-mart right down the road, but I'd recommend stopping at a larger market before you arrive to stock up on essentials. My wife and I didn't rent a car, so Kai generously offered to drive us to the nearby town so we could pick up some groceries.
There are plenty of restaurants within walking distance and surf shops just down the road. Playa Grande is an amazing place to surf. We rented bikes from one of the shops and make a trip to the palm estates for a day. I even had the chance to try some hand-line fishing.
Kai was a gracious host, and couldn't have been nicer. His property is a little slice of paradise, and we were both sad to have to leave. I can't recommend Kai's place enough. If you want to avoid large crowds and enjoy a peaceful stay in the jungle near the beach, this is the place. You won't be disappointed.
My stay at Casita Linda Vista was simply amazing. Kai was a phenomenal host--very responsive to email throughout the booking process, accommodating when my flight was delayed and so helpful in answering any questions once I arrived in Playa Grande. I cannot say enough about how much I loved the casa and casita I stayed in. The property is beautifully maintained and the houses are kept very clean--I spent a couple days just hanging around the house because it was so relaxing. Playa Grande is a gorgeous beach just a few minutes away, and there are many little beach towns just a short drive away (Playa Brasilito and Bahia de los Piratas are especially nice). I highly recommend booking with Kai. It was truly a pleasure to meet him and stay at Linda Vista. I look forward to coming back!
Our stay at Kai's Casita Linda Vista was much more than what we'd imagined. Upon our arrival, Kai welcomed us and gave us an upgrade to a bigger house. The house was extremely clean, comfortable, and surrounded by beautiful trees and plants. The property is also a very short and peaceful walk to the pristine beach of Playa Grande. We had a beautiful time and were very happy to stay here. We highly recommend to stay at Kai's! Thank you for everything, Kai!
My wife and I just stayed at Kai's place for the second half of our honeymoon (4 days) and it was AWESOME! The minute we pulled up, Kai came out to greet us and helped us get settled in our house. He upgraded us free of charge from the one we originally rented as he and he and his wife were currently occupying that one, so we had Casa Azul instead of Casita Linda Vista. Very Nice!
It is very obvious that Kai is passionate about Costa Rica and about running his business well and taking care of everyone that stays with him. Every time we crossed paths with him on the property, he checked in and asked if we were doing okay. He gave us all kinds of great recommendations: Renting a car (which we eventually did), local restaurants, and adventure outfitters (the local surf shop and friends of Kai's, Frijoles Locos). This shop is AWESOME and took care of our every need during our stay. They rented us bikes for our first day, set us up with an incredible SUP excursion, rented us snorkeling gear, and of course pointed us to the best surf in the area! Did I mention Kai had 5 or 6 surfboards onsite that we were free to use whenever we pleased!?
The town of Playa Grande was exactly what we were looking for on our honeymoon. Very small and quiet, but plenty of friendly helpful locals and lots to do! I wouldn't recommend this experience to anyone looking to just lay around and be catered too, but that's what we loved about it...it is truly an immersion experience! We cooked for ourselves in the fully-equipped kitchen, walked into town to buy groceries, and rode the bikes all over the place.
On our last night, Kai recommended dinner at Cafe del Pueblo in Playa Grande and Oh My Goodness, it was soooo good. Handmade italian food (not something you'd expect) and such welcoming staff.
One word to describe my stay here: WOW!
Kai was extremely helpful and waited to receive us quite late. My two friends and I stayed fro two nights at Casa Azul- which Kai generously upgraded us to. Our home was perched on a hill with the most spectacular view when you wake up. It was cozy and extremely spacious. If you're looking for an authentic slice of CR then this is it.
We also happened to mention to Kai that we wanted to surf and he immediately offered us surfboards to practice on the waves with. Playa Grande is less than 5 minutes walking distance and it has some great waves for beginners like us.
Overall this place was definitely one of the highlights of our trip to Costa Rica (and we went all over the country for 2 weeks) and we have continued to tell others about it! Will be coming back!!
