The house rules are first and most important to enjoy and relax and take in all the incredible aromas from the beautifully landscaped gardens and the solitude of the peaceful surroundings. To help you to enjoy your experience at Liquid Magic we have a few suggestions. Please shut all windows and doors when the AC is on and turn it off when leaving to help us conserve Costa Rica's precious resources. We ask that no glass is ever by the pool. We understand that accidents happen and it is easier to avoid the situation completely. A full set of plastic plates, cups, etc is available in the rancho. We have a kitchen available to our guests that must be kept clean after each use. Most of all we would like each guest to enjoy their stay to the fullest. If you have additional questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to ask!
Eugene and Caroline were great hosts and the cabin was exactly as described.
This was our first planned stop and first AirBnB experience, and was a great intro to both Costa Rica and Airbnb.
Other reviewers mention that you need a 4x4 to get here; in the dry season, I disagree. It is up a long somewhat bumpy driveway, but it's nothing that a 2WD vehicle couldn't manage. Maybe the rainy season would be different.
Other tips for the area: you pretty much need a car to do much of anything here. With a car, there's a lot of beaches and restaurants nearby, many of which have amazing perches up on the mountainside so they have great vista for the sunset. The place basically right next door (first place just south of the location) had a great deck and view, and the sea bass my wife ordered was one of the best meals we had all week. Eugene and Caroline can recommend some other places as well.
To find the place, their directions are great, but overall you really want to have a GPS. You can rent them from the car rental place at about $10/day, or bring you Garmin from home and install the Cenrut (free) maps. Cenrut isn't as good as the expensive paid-for maps, but it's way good enough to get you around. With those maps, and the GPS coordinates of your planned stops pre-programmed, you have a pretty easy time of it. This place is in the area of Costa Rica with good paved roads; other areas of the country are much more challenging, but Cenrut still has enough of them to work out.
Also note that the listing says sleeps 6 with 2 bathrooms. That's both cabins combined. The king bed cabin we stayed (which has an awesome bathroom and is great overall) has a king bed, a day bed, and a trundle bed that pulls out from the daybed, so it's luxurious for a couple, and probably sleeps 4/1 bath. We didn't go inside the other cabin, but that's probably where the other 2 people and 1 bath are.
There is a usable kitchen in the place, but it's not right in your cabin. We never used it. The cabin has a good sized mini fridge; we used that, ate breakfasts (fresh fruit, toast and coffee) at Liquid and ate everything else out.
Very enjoyable experience and we'd happily go back!
It was a fantastic stay at Liquid Magic!!! We loved our privacy and the king bungalow was Ok for 4 guys!!!! We also loved to watch the toucans and the blue butterfly. It was spectacular!!!! Thanks Caroline for the homemade smoothie with all the fresh fruits and the most spectacular fruit of the tropics: " Guanabana"
Thanks again Eugene and Caroline,
We will be back next year " si Dios quiere "
Eugene and Caroline were very helpful in calling us cabs, making us a great breakfast and setting up tours. Their place was a little tricky to find (I recommend having a car as it is up a steep hill) but it is located in a great secluded spot with tons of nature and a great pool. We enjoyed everything about the place and will be recommending it to all of our friends!
This was one of our favorite places to stay in Costa Rica. It is a perfect blend of Western amenities with the pura vida lifestyle. Caroline is very welcoming and helpful. We loved everything about staying here!
Describing the experience of Liquid Magic through a brief commentary section does the sanctity of this heaven on earth a true injustice. I would love to recommend you look elsewhere for accommodations in Costa Rica, with the only intention being that I could preserve the availability of this amazing place throughout the year. I could, however, never do that to Caroline and Eugene, who offer the perfect blend of local insight and laissez-faire attitude. For a truly tranquil setting and outstanding people, there's no better place than liquid magic.
Travel to and from: absolutely need a car with 4 wheel drive. Place is really off the map so I'd recommend arriving during light or renting a gps.
Activities: countless activities in Uvita and Dominical for families, couples or friends. Beaches, waterfalls, kayaking, rafting, surfing...
People: the absolute best people on earth. Friendly, helpful, and unforgettable.
Moral: one of a kind hosts, humble abode with amazing amenities, and a safe, small town with gnarly surf vibes. Pura Vida!
Staying at Liquid Magic was perfect. Eugene and Caroline were really great hosts. The bungalow was clean and comfortable. We loved the view and sounds of the jungle. So many unexpected visitors:) we saw more animals staying at their than visiting Manuel Antonio!
Eugene and Caroline are both longtime residents of Costa Rica. Eugene came many years ago in search of the perfect wave. Having found it on the Pacific Coast, he made Costa Rica his home and never left. Caroline came years later looking for a more simple and peaceful way of life. Together they run Liquid Magic Surf Resort offering their love of the country to their guests. Both are lovers of the water, nature and adventure and love sharing the specialness of this area with those who visit.
