This is, in all honesty, one of the nicest studios I have ever seen in New York City and I am proud of it!
Note: this is for the entire apartment, not a shared space.
Apartment itself: Brand new renovations, dishwasher, fully equipped kitchen, comfortable full size bed, fast wireless internet, apple TV, great bathroom (with subway style tiles), sunken living room. The works! This place also gets a ton of natural light during the day
Building: Beautiful, perfectly maintained building in gorgeous hudson heights. The very respectful super lives in the building. Only one flight of stairs up to my apartment... but if you're lazy there is a clean elevator. Washer and dryer is in the building just one floor down.
Location: Hudson Heights in the 180's. This building is DIRECTLY across the street from the A train entrance- you can be at 42nd street Times Square in 20 minutes. You can also walk to the 1 train in 5 minutes. Area referred to as "Manhattan's Best Kept Secret", and for good reason.... There are great restaurants, pubs, wine bars, and Manhattan's last remaining wild forest. I am only a short walk from the Cloisters and Fort Tryon Park (my FAVORITE park in Manhattan). You can go for a jog, or enjoy the views of the Hudson River and the George Washington bridge. I also have to mention that this neighborhood is EXTREMELY safe.
I am in a string quartet that travels around the country and I am gone frequently- please inquire about dates.
*i recently lowered my nightly rate- I didn't have any trouble filling it in the past, but this apartment is now a fantastic value...*
Matthew was a wonderful and conscientious host and made himself always available to help with any problems. He also asked if there were breakfast things he could leave for me, and he stocked the apartment with tea and milk, etc. The apartment is very conveniently located right near the A train and close to the heart of Hudson Heights. It is in a secure easy to get to building.
The apartment is very modest and when I stayed there it lacked amenities like tissues, a hair dryer, a lamp for reading in bed. But when I asked about the hair dryer, Matthew immediately offered to reimburse me for one, if I had to purchase one.
So sorry I didn't have some of the things you need- thank you for the feedback. I will make sure to have these things for the next guest. I want every guest feeling comfortable and secure, so I sincerely appreciate you telling me what you need. As a guy living alone, the hair dryer is something that slipped my mind!! Thanks for that. And I am sorry I didn't realize I ran out of tissues...
Matthew's apartment is just great! It's cozy, spacious, clean and very comfortable, and has everything you need. Location couldn't be better: a quiet safe side street with shops and restaurants located at a walkable distance (very close really). It's also very close to a subway stop.
Matthew is a very attentive and caring host. He really went out of his way to make my stay as comfortable and pleasant as possible. Besides providing clean sheets and towels, he made sure to get some breakfast things for me. He also provided a metro card, and a laundry card in case I needed to use them. I also appreciated having some useful guidance and house rules explaining how things work in the house, where to shop, where to eat, etc.
I highly recommend Matthew's place for anyone planning a trip to NYC and would be happy stay here again!
My stay here was thoroughly enjoyable. The apartment is fantastic and clean, with all the necessary amenities. Its in a prime location right next to an A train metro stop, making the the rest of the city readily accessible. What made my stay truly exceptional, though, was Matt's hospitality. He was always readily accessible and provided me with back-up contacts on the off-chance that he was indisposed. When I arrived, he had fresh towels and soaps for me and he had just bought some groceries to make help me in my transition to a new city. I could not ask for anything more. Definitely would stay here again if I found myself back in New York.
Matt was a great host. He arranged to get the keys to me a few days earlier, so I had my keys while traveling. Great location, directly next to the A train! I would say the only downsides are that because the bed is directly next to window, at times you can very clearly hear people on the street, but it really didn't bother me. Great value!
This a great little spot in uptown NYC. Quiet street and easy walk to a small market for groceries and great little restaurants. If you plan to spend most of your time downtown be prepared for about an hour on the subway, but Washington Heights is gorgeous so I recommend spending some time in the area. The apartment was clean and had everything you need for a short stay. Matthew was very helpful, both before and during my stay. I definitely recommend his place!
Thanks for your review! Glad you liked it.
To be clear to those not familiar with New York- midtown manhattan is not an hour away (Columbus circle, Times Square, etc). To get to Columbus circle area, I literally leave 30 minutes door to door. Downtown (village, lower manhattan, Wall Street, World Trade Center site, etc) would be 40-45 mins away on the A train, longer if you need to transfer to another train or bus. Thanks!
This is the perfect apartment for me. It is only 5 minutes from my daughter. Easy access to the subway. Has everything you need for a home away from home. Thanks Matt!
Matthew's place is great! Very clean, charming and well maintained. Nice hard-wood floors and convenient access to the A train (express) - quick and easy travel to mid-town and downtown locations. Matthew was very helpful and accessible if we had any questions. Would definitely recommend it and would stay there again!
Had a great time staying here. It is right across from a Metro with the express A train, so great access to all of Manhattan. I really like the neighborhood with the Cloisters and Ft. Tryon too. The flat is clean and comfortable.
