The Space

A charming apartment for experts entirely wood made by the sure touch of a local old craftsman – Sir Fausto – who lived and worked in “Campo de’ Fiori” area at the beginning of the twentieth century. The apartment is especially cozy because of the recent remodelling.
The “Bollo” is a magic, enchanting place; It will be like living on a boat in the heart of the city, far from any noise even you are less than one hundred meters far from Campo de’ Fiori where every morning (except on Sunday), starting from the dawn, you can see the most characteristic and coloured market of flowers, fruit and vegetables in the city.
The “Bollo” is a perfect lovely nest, enriched by its ancient vault-ceiling, the original sixteenth century peperino-marble capitals (peperino is a volcano tuff which is grey with black little grains like peppergrains; this kind of stone is found in the Albani hills near Rome), the porthole-windows – in peperino marble as well – which belonged to the ancient fifteenth century convent, basis of the recent building.
The apartment consists of one room perfectly acclimatized (air conditioned) and endowed with an elegant cooking alcove (where guests will find everything necessary for cooking and also a microwave).

Free wifi Internet connection!

The flat can accommodate up to four people; the two sleeping areas furnished with refined upholstery and both fitted with a comfortable double bed are positioned on two typical wooden lofts which look each other, reached by two staircase-wardrobes that are in harmony with the open space.
The apartment is situated on the ground floor facing a characteristic courtyard where you can see a nice little fountain. Completing the loft a modern dining-table and a comfortable sofa which coverts into another double bed.
The bathroom, like the whole floor of the house is made of pricks. It contains a shower and is well stocked with everything that guests need (towels, soap, shampoo).
The location of the apartment is exceptional as you are extremely close to all the classic sights of Rome. Castle Sant’Angelo, Saint Peter’s, Piazza Navona, Campo de’ Fiori and the Pantheon are all no more than an easy three minute walk.
Vicolo del Bollo goes from Via del Pellegrino (the ancient road travelled by the pilgrims who used to reach San Peter’s) to via dei Cappellari (where still today the last roman real carpenters go on doing woodwork).
The toponym of the lane comes from the “Ufficio del Bollo” established in 1608 by a notification which ordered the jewellers to work just pure gold and silver and masters of the mint to check and brand (or seal) the works. The jewellers lived in via del Pellegrino; after finishing their works they used to go “al Bollo” right to seal their works. At the beginning of the lane there is a sacred image which is protected by a glass.
The perfect starting point to best enjoy the best of the eternal city!

  • Alessandro is such a kind and helpful person towards our needs. It is definitely a blessing to have stayed at Charming Boat, what a lovely place indeed! With it's easily accessible location, we get to most of the popular sites in the city of Rome by walking around the neighborhood. We enjoyed our stay very much and definitely will book this lovely flat again when we returned to Rome in the future!

  • Alessandro is very friendly. For the departure he ordered a taxi for us.
There are two supermarkets near the apartment (Despar and Pam - three minutes to go), which have open also Sunday until 9 o’clock p.m.
We have a good time in the middle of an old part of the city.

  • What a magical home and a brilliant host. The boat is cozy and well appointed. If the boat-loving Tooks of Middle Earth built a Hobbit hole it would be this. Strolling distance to Vatican and Pantheon. Allesandro is a fantastic host. I needed a haircut and he took me around the corner and made an appointment . Great haircut and great fun. AND he made taxi reservations for our departure day. We read in his guest book that he had advised Dal Paino as best pizza. We agree. Thank you Allesandro for a magical stay.

  • Neat small apartment in fantastic location. Good for active couple and/ or small family. Feeling very much like a boat, small spaces and lofted bed areas, just enough room for up to several days stay in Rome. Alessandro was very helpful and stayed up to welcome us and give us helpful advice for our daily living, transport, and sightseeing.

  • Our stay in Alessandro's apartment was wonderful. The place really does look and feel like the inside of a boat. For me, the size was perfect...although if you're taller than 6'0, this apartment might not be the best for you. My boyfriend is 6'8 so it was difficult for him to cook, shower, and stand. But like I said, it was perfect for me! Comfy bed, lots of hot water, fresh towels, and nice and quiet at night. :)

Alessandro was a perfect host, very friendly and very easy to communicate with. We met his wife who answered all our questions and gave us a lovely map. The location was absolutely perfect, you could easily walk to everything in Rome! Tons of good restaurants and bakeries all around the corner. I would absolutely stay here again.

  • We had a wonderful time staying a week at Allesandro's Air BnB. The apartment was perfect, in the best central area of Rome for walking into the neighborhoods- excellent markets and restaurants nearby. He was a very responsive and communicative host and we'd highly recommend his apartment for a lovely stay in Rome!

Merci Alessandro.

About
I am Alessandro, born in Rome and in love with my city... My mobile phone number is 24/24 hour switched on for my guests and archeology is my first passion, then food and good wine (my wife is a sommelier). I think that living in Rome means… walking through the streets of history, where around every corner you come upon an architectural wonder, written about in history books, or a museum rich with original and important works of art – all objects of beauty that were created for your enjoyment by artists throughout more than two thousand years of history... discovering that, even during winter – when the entire peninsula is under snow, from the Alps to Sicily – you can enjoy sun-drenched spring-like days, guaranteed from the affectionate and protective embrace of the Abruzzo Apenines. Rome is the only city in Italy where the sun is always brilliant and the moderate temperatures never end....To experience the constant struggle between christianity and paganism; to worship the beauty of the eighteenth century churches while bowing to the graces of the ancient temples. ... To stop in at the local shops and chat for a while with real Romans who can be sceptical, are often impatient, but underneath it all they’re big-hearted. What I wanna say is that no one should come away from a visit to Rome, eternal city of history and art, without having relished the experience completely, in the best way possible, and with a full understanding of her finest characteristics…
