The space

A charming apartment for experts entirely wood made by the sure touch of a local old craftsman – Sir Fausto – who lived and worked in “Campo de’ Fiori” area at the beginning of the twentieth century. The apartment is especially cozy because of the recent remodelling. The “Bollo” is a magic, enchanting place; It will be like living on a boat in the heart of the city, far from any noise even you are less than one hundred meters far from Campo de’ Fiori where every morning (except on Sunday), starting from the dawn, you can see the most characteristic and coloured market of flowers, fruit and vegetables in the city. The “Bollo” is a perfect lovely nest, enriched by its ancient vault-ceiling, the original sixteenth century peperino-marble capitals (peperino is a volcano tuff which is grey with black little grains like peppergrains; this kind of stone is found in the Albani hills near Rome), the porthole-windows – in peperino marble as well – which belonged to the ancient fifteenth century convent, basis of the recent building. The apartment consists of one room perfectly acclimatized (air conditioned) and endowed with an elegant cooking alcove. Free wifi Internet connection! The flat can accommodate up to four people; the two sleeping areas furnished with refined upholstery and both fitted with a comfortable double bed are positioned on two typical wooden lofts which look each other, reached by two staircase-wardrobes that are in harmony with the open space. The apartment is situated on the ground floor facing a characteristic courtyard where you can see a nice little fountain. Completing the loft a modern dining-table and a comfortable sofa. The bathroom, like the whole floor of the house is made of pricks. It contains a shower and is well stocked with everything that guests need (towels, a welcome kit of soap and shampoo). The location of the apartment is exceptional as you are extremely close to all the classic sights of Rome. Castle Sant’Angelo, Saint Peter’s, Piazza Navona, Campo de’ Fiori and the Pantheon are all no more than an easy three minute walk. Vicolo del Bollo goes from Via del Pellegrino (the ancient road travelled by the pilgrims who used to reach San Peter’s) to via dei Cappellari (where still today the last roman real carpenters go on doing woodwork). The toponym of the lane comes from the “Ufficio del Bollo” established in 1608 by a notification which ordered the jewellers to work just pure gold and silver and masters of the mint to check and brand (or seal) the works. The jewellers lived in via del Pellegrino; after finishing their works they used to go “al Bollo” right to seal their works. At the beginning of the lane there is a sacred image which is protected by a glass. It's a boat-house so It is ideal for couple, friends, family with kids! Not ideal for older or people with mobility problems. The perfect starting point to best enjoy the best of the eternal city!

Great location and helpful hosts! We walked to many of the top attractions in Rome in 20 minutes or less. It is basically an efficiency apartment with two comfortable full beds, a small bath and a small kitchen. It fit our needs perfectly. Many shops, restaurants, cafes and a open air market nearby. I would stay there again.

This apartment is small but completely worth it. It was within walking distance to every major location. The close proximity to Campo de Fiori allowed for us to go out late at night without having to worry about being in danger. The air conditioning in this place was exactly what we needed for those hot Roman nights! I would easily stay here again.

Alessandro was a wonderful host! Check in was flawless and he gave us several suggestions on transportation to his place from the airport. He arranged taxis and transportation to the ship port for us also!! The flat was in a perfect location to walk to many many historical sights and we loved that. We stepped out the door and walked the cobblestone streets to stores, restaurants and gelato stands galore. We will be back!! Thank you Alessandro!!

We absolutely loved our stay at Alessandro's charming apartment. It is exactly as described. The beds were comfortable and the apartment was very clean. The air conditioning was very much appreciated on the hot Rome days we experienced. The apartment is 2 minutes walk from Campo dei Fiori but secluded and tucked away off alley ways which lead to a locked away small courtyard. Within, the door to the apartment is found. It is all very quiet and safe. We are a family of four, which included two teenage boys, staying in this apartment and although the apartment is compact, we fit well with all our baggage. There is excellent storage for our bags to be put up and out of our way. Alessandro was great in his communication with us and was at the apartment to meet us at the arranged time. The apartment is a fantastic value and in an excellent location. Perfect and comfortable for exploring Rome. We would definitely stay again.

We loved our stay at this place! Alessandro was very on top of communication before we arrived to Rome. He was thoughtful and provided us with some treats from his favorite bakery. He gave us a map with directions and reccommendations of things to do. It is charming and has everything you need. The beds are on top of a very steep flight of stairs, so if you use the bathroom at night you need to use great caution. We thought it added to the adventure!

The location of this apartment is amazing. It is extremely clean and convenient. Alessandro made traveling extremely easy by giving detailed instructions regarding pricing and timing on the various ways to arrive from the airport. The apartment was small but perfect for us.

Alessandro User ProfileAlessandro is a superhost.

I am Alessandro, born in Rome and in love with my city... I am on call 24/7 and do my best to help people have the best experience possible during their stay. Archeology is my first passion, then food and good wine (my wife is a sommelier).
I think that living in Rome means… walking through the streets of history, where around every corner you come upon an architectural wonder, written about in history books, or a museum rich with original and important works of art – all objects of beauty that were created for your enjoyment by artists throughout more than two thousand years of history... discovering that, even during winter – when the entire peninsula is under snow, from the Alps to Sicily – you can enjoy sun-drenched spring-like days, guaranteed from the affectionate and protective embrace of the Abruzzo Apenines. Rome is the only city in Italy where the sun is always brilliant and the moderate temperatures never experience the constant struggle between christianity and paganism; to worship the beauty of the eighteenth century churches while bowing to the graces of the ancient temples. ... To stop in at the local shops and chat for a while with real Romans who can be sceptical, are often impatient, but underneath it all they’re big-hearted.
What I wanna say is that no one of my guests should come away from a visit to Rome, eternal city of history and art, without having relished the experience completely, in the best way possible, and with a full understanding of her finest characteristics…
