Horse Farm Capannacce: Il Poderino

Bed & Breakfast - Entire home/apt · Rapolano Terme, Tuscany 53040, Italy

The Space

In the Crete Senesi, at the heart of a working organic farm, the this traditional farmhouse is divided into two appartments that sleep six in all. Both are beautifully furnished with family pieces. The larger appartment, Il Poderino, is on various levels with two double bedrooms, a living room, a bathroom and a kitchen with fireplace. There is access to a large shared garden with a barbecue area and a table to dine outdoors. Guests can help themselves to the produce of our organic vegetable patch.
This is an ideal place in which to enjoy the countryside in spring and autumn, far from the bustle of a city. The focus of farm activity is on the breeding of thoroughbred horses. Mares and foals graze in the fields and horses train on the farm’s sand track. Situated within the Ombrone River valley, you can enjoy walks along its banks and in the surrounding woods. Here you will discover an unspoilt landscape of cultivated fields, abandoned farms, and many species of wild animals and birds. There are many good restaurants and trattorias serving magnificent local wines. Alternatively, you can have fun preparing dinner in the well-equipped kitchen with a fireplace for grilling. The Rapolano spas (to which our guest have a discount entrance) are just a few minutes’ drive away, and cultural cities such as Siena, Arezzo and Florence are within easy reach.

Check In
  • This place was truly rustic. The apartment itself is charming, and the hosts are helpful and provide staples for breakfast. The house appeared to have been empty for a while before we stayed there, and as a result, it was really cold, as the masonry hadn't been heated. There was only a wood stove (which burns out unless you feed it throughout the night) and a radiator system that was difficult to control. By the second night, after the apartment had warmed up, it was lovely. Be forewarned that the wifi did not work, and because of the remote location, it was impossible to get a cell signal to use cellular data either. So it meant for fairly peaceful nights with no outside communication.

  • Amazing 13th century farm house close to Siena. We really enjoyed our stay and Francesca & her mom were very friendly.

Make sure to check with them before you start your trip to their place because there can be some difficulty on Airbnb/(website hidden) maps so confirm the correct location before starting your drive. It's not Francesca's fault - just a tech glitch w/ Airbnb.

The farm is wonderful and was a great break from the noise and activity of Rome.

  • Our stay on the farm was wonderful. The place, the indoors and outside both, are so pretty. You can head out into pasture with the horses and foal will come right up for some love. There a frogs in the little pond up front, veggies and herbs to pick in the garden, flowers to admire and more. Get out here and get away from it all. We would definitely stay again.

  • Teo and Francesca are wonderful hostess, very welcoming and beautiful ladies. At late evening we have hardly found a farm and were very tired. We met Teo, she give us a key. Inside on the table we found a pie and a bottle of white wine in the fridge. It's just awesome! :-) The house is very beautiful and habitable. Everything was good and beautiful: kitchen, bedroom, library, shower room, hammock in the garden. At the farm there are many animals. Friendly dogs, geese, a cat and beautiful horses. Authentic farmhouse in Tuscany for real travelers. I hope we will back again

  • The beauty of this farm is unparalleled. You must experience in your lifetime. The lodgings are rustic, yet completely comfortable, clean and homey. Teo and her mother Francesca are remarkable women, and make you feel completely at home. The experience of being on the farm, living so close to the land was the highlight of 2 month long trip throughout Europe. Don't even think anymore about it...just book it. You will not regret it, I promise.

  • We spent 3 weeks in Tuscany and this part was the nicest! The farm is a very relaxing setting, yet with all the comfort you need and more: the organic garden with vegetables full of taste, the very nice decoration of the flat, welcome cake and cookies, and nice time spent with the farm owner Teodora and all the help she provided us with.
We look forward to coming back, ideally with a car or a scooter to explore surroundings, in particular the Rapolano thermal swimming pools that are just some 8km away.

  • This a wonderful place but even more wonderful was our host Francesca. We stayed in a spacious, well furnished two bedroom apartment with a living room, a dinning room and a garden for our use on Francesca's working farm. It was great to see the farm equipment moving about. In addition, the farm was close to the highway and so, we traveled from there to Siena and Rome with no difficulty.

However, Francesca was the icing on this tasty cake. She made us feel very welcomed from the moment we met and she was always ready to help us enjoy our stay in the area. She sent to have dinner at a wonderful restaurant with great views on hill close to the farm. This invitation made for a very memorable evening.

This is definitely a five star experience for a very reasonable price.

  • We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The accommodation was pleasant and characterful, but the real highlight was the location: total peace and tranquillity in remote, rolling countryside among walnut groves, woodland and pastures of grazing horses. The welcome was exceptional too, and we much appreciated Francesca's kindness and the treats she provided for us. The situation is convenient for Siena with a fast road not far away. The house isn't easy to find: look out for the ruined church at the end of the track.

  • This is a very unique stay. It has a farmhouse feel with all you need to cook and enjoy real peace and tranquility. There is no tv and the wifi at the time was spotty. The hosts are excellent, providing us with information about special events in the area. We arrived to Siena by train, took a cab to Eurocar to pick up a rental car (10 minutes) and it only took about 20 minutes to arrive at the farm. Outstanding find! Only recommending would be to not bother paying extra for breakfast. They left is farm fresh eggs, fresh milk, a homemade crostata and jam. There is a Coop supermarket 5 minutes away.

  • A wonderful apartment in an authentic Toscana farmhouse, a beautiful experience of the Toscana countryside! Francesca and Teodora were really kind and easy to communicate, everything was perfect. They let us inside the apartment the breakfast for two days, including a wonderful homemade "crostata", simply delicious!
Quiet, clean, and really authentic, we'll come back asap.
