This lovely converted barn has been renovated to a high standard and makes an ideal base for a large family or two families sharing. It also lends itself to a group of adults wanting a break away together.
Bleuet is a converted piggeries. It is part of our farm complex and was renovated a couple of years ago. It is totally independent from our house and the two other gites on the complex but shares the grounds, play areas pool and laundry. It has been cleverly designed to give a feeling of space and yet keeping a 'cozy' feel. It is often referred to as 'the tardis' as from the outside it looks quite small but once inside it is surprisingly spacious. On the ground floor it has a large bunk room - perfect for children or teenagers, with 2 sets of bunkbeds and lots of room to just chill out. The barn then opens out into a large room with a well equipped kitchen, dining space and comfy seating area with a wood burning stove. From this room you can go out onto the large private patio with great views over the Viaur Gorge. There is a good sized shower room just off the lounge area and a family bathroom on the first floor. Up the oak staircase you have a double bedroom at the rear of the house and another at the front with a single bedroom next to the bathroom off the landing.
Heating wise there is a log burner in the lounge and electric radiators in the rooms. Whilst the property sleeps up to 9 - it is perfectly suitable for 2 and doesn't feel too big to be there on your own. The house is on the edge of a hamlet and there are waymarked walks straight from the property. If you want a bit of culture there are numerous bastides to visit within 30 mins of the property, Sauveterre de Rouergue and Cordes sur Ciel being two of the most well known. Or head off to Albi now a world heritage site. There's lots to do and see whithout having to spend hours in the car.
The barn and large patio is totally private. Sahred facilities include the games store, the laundry, the grounds and the large swimming pool.
Interaction with Guests
As much or as little as you want; We are always there to share a glass of wine and help with ideas of where to go, what to see, but will happily leave you to it if you prefer to go it alone.
This area gives to you the peace and tranquility of rural France. Steeped in tradition and customs you know you are getting the real experience. Beautiful walks, lovely views, colourful markets, historic France all on the doorstep.
It is best to have a car as access is limited; We do however have a good train link 10 mins away with a line joining Toulouse to Rodez.
Very few rules - please just leave the place as you found it. If you want to move things around fine just please put them back before you leave. We live on site so are there to help if there are any problems. You will find a basket of logs for the fire on arrival - once these are gone, more logs can be purchased for 7€ a basket. Please note that electricity is paid for separately - meter is read on arrival and departure.
Julie is lovely anb an excellent hostess. The house is great and surroundings are spectacular.
Thanks for your hospitality and your advices!!!
Julie and Andy's place was so lovely. Perfectly renovated with old charm but also modern and completely comfortable. I highly recommend this place to others.
Julie's place "the pig barn" was such a treat for us and we really enjoyed our stay. It was 6 of us - 4 adults and two children, and we were quite comfortable. The area around the house is open and inviting and our kids flitted from the house to the play areas (slide, little house, etc) to the grassy hill, and then to wherever Fidget the dog was so they could throw the ball for her. The weather was warm enough to enjoy the pool but also cool in the evening - perfect for sitting around a fire and drinking wine. We had a fabulous hike down to the river and back, enjoyed a day in the city of Albi, and also made it to Belcastel. There is a lot to see in the area but it's also quite nice to simply hang out at the house. Julie is so friendly and is a wealth of information on the area. We'd love to come back. Thank you for the lovely stay!
This place is a gem! My family and I found it by accident during our 5 week driving tour of Europe. We were trying to find a place in Belcastel, but it was fully booked. It has been the best place we have stayed at on our trip. The house is huge and easily accommodates more people than our small family of 4. The exterior of the house retains the original charm of an old barn. The interior is beautifully renovated with contemporary furnishings and yet still captures the original detailing of the barn. The kitchen is large and perfect for cooking meals. You can eat inside or outside on the patio. The patio terrace area has a gorgeous view of the countryside. We enjoyed the view while the kids played in the surrounding grassy area and in the pool. Belcastel is a short drive and a must see, but you will also want to just enjoy the beautiful house and view.
Julie, Andy, and their family were wonderful hosts. Hopefully, we will be able to travel to this area again and have more time to enjoy this magical place.
We've spent a wonderful time in Julie's house. She and her family made everything for our comfort.
If you are looking for charming, quiet and peaceful place I absolutely recommend this one. It's also good for family with babies. Occasionally we had one baby-girl with us, and she was entirely happy with the cozy playground in the green-lawn yard and especially with the cheerful and extremely friendly dog-playmate.
We are going to miss you, Fidget! Thank you for our warm and bright holidays))

I live in the SW of France with my husband, twin daughters and our dog, Fidget. I'm English and moved to France 10 years ago with my family as a bit of a 'life change'. In my previous life I used to be in charge of a large Special Needs department in a secondary school. Here in France we run a gite complex with 3 holiday homes on site and I also manage another 4 properties belonging to friends who part followed us out here (they bought holiday homes close to us but still live in the UK). Andy my husband looks after the buildings here and renovates other properties in the area. My girls are at secondary school in our local market town and are totally bilingual (much to my envy). We remain incredibly busy but have a lovely family bond with everyone mucking in together - making the big move definitely the right thing to have done. I love the day to day challenge of coping in a foreign language, going to aqua gym with my french neighbour and occasionally teaching English in Toulouse. In the 8 years we have been running the gite complex I've made many friends from all walks of life and one of my greatest pleasures is seeing stressed out families leaving relaxed and happy after a great holiday. Makes all the hard work worthwhile.
