My vacation home on the southern coast of Puerto Rico is available for daily, weekly, or monthly rental. It is a magical place - an enchanting retreat located about 60 miles from the capital, San Juan. The majority of activities are related to nature - swimming in crystal-clear waters, diving, snorkeling, surfing, fishing, early morning hiking, bird watching.
The house is not ON the beach. It is close to a number of small and large beaches located within 3 kilometers. It is in a remote and unspoiled area of Puerto Rico. There are no shops, restaurants, bars, casinos, or nightclubs in the area.
I have provided lots of board and other games for night time family entertainment. There is a portable dvd player, and a boom box for music. The kitchen is fully equipped - microwave, toaster oven, blender, stainless steel/copper bottom cookware, Braun coffee maker and coffee grinder, as well as an espresso (stove-top) coffee maker.
This is the home I and my family use so I have made it friendly. All linens, bath towels and beach towels are included. There is an array of beach toys - paddles, snorkels, flippers, sand toys.
The bedrooms both have air conditioners and overhead fans. The living area has overhead Hunter fans.
The entire house and its contents.
Interaction with Guests
I have no personal interaction with my guests, as I live in Buenos Aires. but there is a caretaker who is available to hand over keys, show guests around, answer questions, and who is available in case of emergencies.
Although MANY tourists descend upon this PART of Puerto Rico during the winter, this is really a very small neighborhood of mostly puertorrican homeowners. There is, of course, the 4 star resort, The Copamarina, just a short walk away. But it's a real plus being able to go there and enjoy the hotel amenities.
There is NO public transportation. You must rent a car.
Other Things to Note
This is not a brand new house. But it is super comfortable and it is amazingly peaceful.
Smoking outside ONLY (on deck or front of house). No pets.
This comfortable and peaceful two-bedroom house is set on the end of a dead-end road with views of the hills from the porch and abundant bird life (pelicans, herons, vultures, to name a few). Pepita was very prompt and helpful prior to our arrival as was her caretaker when we checked in and out. As she describes, the house is not new, and so you'll want to be gentle with the screen door and make sure to take a shower during the day when the water is warmer. There was no wireless internet while we were there. There is lots to do in the area and within an hour's drive, including hiking in the dry forest next door, taking a boat to swim in the bioluminescent bay after dark from La Parguera, and taking the ferry to Guilligan's Island for snorkelling. Bring your own board games and evening entertainment, as the Trivial Pursuit at the house is very outdated! A very comfortable and well-designed house for a family vacation in a quiet, safe, and friendly neighborhood.
There's a lot to be said for this private house, with an expansive deck and view onto the back bay of the coast and foothills of the mountainous Guanica Dry Forest. It's spacious, has a sizable and well-equipped kitchen, generously stocked linens, towels, and furnishings. The host provided much information about the area. While it is somewhat secluded, it's within close driving distance of a resort with a very good restaurant, and day trips are possible to the Ponce Art and Music Museums, the historic town of San German, and the panoramic views of the Cabo Rojo Lighthouse. All of that said, at the time of our stay the house needed a little TLC to repair some potential wiring and lighting problems, fix holes in screens, and put up some sun-blocking curtains to keep it cooler during the day.
Thank you Pepita, we had a fantastic time in Guanica. Your house was super comfortable and nearby beaches were so fun. Thanks again we will be sure to recommend your place to all. Best Rachel and family
Location, location, location! We truly enjoyed the Guanica area, did not mind the windy road to the house because of the proximity to beaches we visited. We went to 9 beaches from Rincon to Guanica over 8 days while at the house. Pepita was great to work with for the booking and information. Tony, the caretaker was easily available and a very nice guy. The home was clean, and fit our need for a place to play a boardgame before sleep as we kept our days busy. The bedrooms have air conditioning, but the main room only have fans which could make it uncomfortable for use in the mid day or early evening. We felt very safe in the neighborhood. For the price, the home is an excellent value, we may very likely return to the house when we return to Puerto Rico. Thank you Pepita, especially for contacting me after Airbnb cancelled the reservation following a short time window to confirm. That part of Airbnb could be a real negative issue if we had not communicated. Have a great summer! Pete and Lizzette

I am a very young in spirit retired woman, living alone and LOVING it! I have traveled extensively in Europe, North and South America, and Africa. For the moment I call Buenos Aires home.
There are is an extraordinary number of free and moderate priced cultural activities here and I love sharing them with my visitors.
Because I moved to BA alone, I chose an upscale and very safe neighborhood. You will love it as much as I do!
