Welcome to our oasis! Morgantown is the nickname for the artsy area of Bushwick, Brooklyn that we reside in. We offer a cozy place to stay and full breakfast daily with easy access to two major subway lines, while you explore our exciting city .
The bedroom has a full/double sized bed, some shelves, a desk and a closet. Ideal for a couple, but we also have a futon couch that converts into an extra single sleeper for a third person. The room has a door to our backyard. It also has it's own thermostat controlled heat and an air conditioning unit (when it's warm).
You are welcome to use our kitchen at your pleasure. The bathroom is shared with us. The shower is clean and has really good hot water. We will provide linens/soap/shampoo/towels/toothbrushes.
And yes we have Wifi!
Our Nespresso machine makes great cappuccinos, lattes, lungos and espressos which we make every morning. It's easy enough for anybody to use so feel free to help yourself at any time
My name is Alec, my girlfriend is Laura, we will be your hosts. Laura loves to cook breakfast, which we will provide for you every morning in our dining room/kitchen. We love music so usually we play a good record on our vintage record player during breakfast.
Our little dog is a Wolf-Spitz/Corgi mix named Fozzio "Fozzy" Bear-Wolf, and he is awesome. Never met anybody he didn't like. He's adorable. Looks like a wolf puppy, but will not get any bigger. A forever pup.
Morgantown gets the nickname because it is the area surrounding the Morgan Ave L Train stop, and the L Train is one of the best lines in the city. Art galleries, music venues, yoga studios and great restaurants and bars such as famed Roberta's Pizza are all within easy walking distance. Morgantown is the heart of the thriving Bushwick, Brooklyn art scene.
We live about 5 blocks from the Morgan Ave L train. The L train goes direct to Union Square and will bring you there in 15 minutes. It is one of the fastest subways in NYC, and it connects to almost all of the other lines. We also live close to the J/M/Z line so this is a very convenient place to be and have easy access to all parts of the city.
Laura and I both work at a couple of the restaurants/bars nearby. I'm also in a funk/rock/soul band based in Bushwick, Brooklyn. We know and love the area very well.
Alec & Laura are very welcoming, and it is appreciated after a long trip.
The flat is warmly decorated, and the bedroom is quite large. Good sleep in the bed, especially covered up, at this period of the year, in a nice soft duvet from which you regret to get off. Happily, Laura cooked tasty breakfasts, different each day. In the same time, Alec did choice also different excellent music/songs, so that mornings were relaxed. The little dog Fazzy is delightful and very friendly. He never barks, he is a happy dog who loves apples ! The subway is at about ten minutes far from Melrose Str. This is very easy to go to Manhattan.
Thanks to both of you ! Francoise
Alec and Laura were amazing hosts, with great food in the morning. As someone who just went to MY for the first time, their place was the perfect place to stay, especially with them there!
I had such a nice time at Morgantown Oasis, Laura makes the best breakfast and their place is lovely. Besides that Laura and Alec are really cool and easygoing people and nice to hang out with not to mention sweet fluffy Fozzy ;). I would recommend this place to anyone, so go there and try it out, it's worth it!
Just one word: perfect!
it was so nice to be on the Morgantown Oasis! the breakfast: :-)))))))))) !!!!!!! and listen to Steevie Wonder during the breakfast :-))))))))) !!! thank u Laura & Alec, it was a real pleasure to be in your place! see u & say hello to Fozzy!
A pleasant place to stay in Bushwick, an interesting artsy neighborhood with many good restaurants. Charming and helpful hosts (and a friendly, charming dog), and Laura makes excellent breakfasts! And for my fellow caffeine-fiends - they have an espresso machine!
Laura and Alec are the best hosts ever! My boyfriend and I stayed at their place for a month and we had a great time! The room is cozy and clean, breakfast is unbeatable and Laura and Alec are cool, relaxed, great company and very hospitable and helpful. Big recommendation for this place, seriously.
The area is full of nice little Brooklyn coffee shops and bars, and it's pretty easy to get to Manhattan anytime.
It was alltogether a lovely experience - Thank you again, you two, we will miss you and Fozzy:)
Alec and Laura's place was fun to stay at - very clean, cozy and with its own atmosphere. The music, breakfast and dog were absolutely great! Even though I made some trouble by coming 8 hours earlier than expected, we worked everything out and understood each other. I would highly recommend it to someone who is looking for a place close to JFK or in a heart of Brooklyn. Getting to Manhattan also is very easy - it takes about 25 minutes to get to downtown.
Great couple, fun, friendly and very hospitable. Very cool neighborhood with restaurants and bars around, accessible by subway and buses, easy to commute to and from.
The couple is extremely kind, fun to be around and amazingly generous. Laura is a fantastic cook while Alec, a talented musician with an exquisite set of vinyl records, has a lot more knowledge than you'd think and is extremely nice to converse with.
The house is cozy and homey, with an outside area for smokers. In the heart of Brooklyn, this airbnb is a gem that I most definitely recommend and will definitively book again if I'm in the area and it's available. You won't regret it, I promise.Doa
The reservation was canceled the day before arrival. This is an automated posting.
We have been at Laura and Alec's place for two nights and these where perfect. The room is large, well furnished and clean.
Alec and Laura are very kind and warmfull. The breakfast is great, and this is the perfect time to chat and know better the hosts.
Good choices in music.
We were there in couple with a baby, no problem. They have a dog but he is funny and played a lot with our boy... no problem.
The L train is not far and bring you easily to JFK and Mannathan.
The neightbourhood look cool but we hadn't the time to explore ti very well. There are restaurants, bar and shops.
We'll keep this adress for a next travel or for friends.
Good choice for a stay in New-York.
