About This Listing
A large room is available in an airy, modern house set among bushland out of town. Pristine beaches are a walk away. The room has a queen size double bed and doors that open on to a verandah. There is the possibility of booking a large room with two single beds instead. Both can be available to extend the accommodation to 4 people. Please contact us if this is an option you are interested in. We will assume all bookings are for the room with a queen size bed unless we are told otherwise.
The rooms are in an open plan house with guest bathroom. There is a sun room which looks out over the large bushland garden. There is an artists printmaking and painting studio in the grounds with printing presses.
Kangaroos and wallabies visit the garden and the sound of birds and the ocean are ever present. There is covered parking and we are classic car friendly and touring motorbike friendly. The owner is a club member in both cases. We welcome pets and have inquisitive chickens roaming the grounds in the afternoon. We have a large undercover area for wet days and a barbeque under cover..
The location is halfway between Sydney and Brisbane, 7 kms south of the nearest town. There is easy access from the Pacific Highway. We can pick up from the local station on the Sydney-Brisbane line if required. The airport is 25 minutes drive away.
The area is popular in the tourist season and offers pristine beaches, fishing, water-sports, swimming, surfing, and kite surfing. The nearby pretty town of Bellingen is known for its cafes and restaurants. A short drive into the mountains brings you to Dorrigo. Well known for the spectacular drive along Waterfall Way. This road is loved by bikies and car enthusiasts. There is a rainforest walk at Dorrigo. Train fans will find a large number of old steam locos there to photograph.

Absolutely wonderful beautiful facilities made to feel like very treasured guests, easy to find and s beautiful breakfast thankyou david and th delightful molly
David and Kiyomi are the most gracious and lovely hosts. Felt so welcome and at home there. It was not only pet friendly but more like "pet loved"....My girls (two dogs) were treated to lots of kindness and pats, which I so appreciated, and they loved their hosts too. I opted for the dinner option and was so glad I did. Delicious..!! The setting of the home is gorgeous and right by one of my favourite beaches. David's artwork and studio are incredibly interesting. All in all could not recommend more highly...Thanks guys... Cheers Rae
Highly recommended ! We had a delightful stay with David and Kiyomi. Our welcome was warm as was the house with a dancing fire aglow. If available, take advantage of Kiyomi's delicious Japanese meal. What a treat!
David and Kiyomi were great hosts, attending to our every need and welcoming our old dog. The house was architecturally interesting with a magical view of tall timbers and a gallery of David's work
Our room was spacious and well appointed and the house spotlessly clean.
David took the time to give us a most interesting tour of his art studio. The little town of Urunga with its great Boardwalk is worth a visit and so close to the highway that it takes little time out of a schedule.
Thank you David and Kiyomi. We will definitely see you again.
I arrived late in the evening after driving from Brisbane, and David and Kiyomi were wonderful and accommodating. It was a nice and easy detour off the highway, so I highly recommend it for travellers doing the Brisbane to Sydney route.
The house was very cosy, with a warm fire and electric blanket. Kiyomi prepared me a cup of tea when I arrived and felt at home straight away. The room was great, fresh sheets, blankets and waking up to the sound of birds in the morning was heaven.
David prepared us a wonderful breakfast in morning – freshly baked bread, muesli and fresh fruit, homemade peanut butter and coffee. It was so relaxing sitting on the verandah in the morning sun wildlife spotting – kookaburras, kangaroos and a baby joey and birds aplenty.
Before I left David gave me a quick tour of his studio. It was interesting to hear about his work and learn about the tools he uses. He is a wonderful talent.
I thoroughly enjoyed my stay. All the small gestures didn't go unnoticed and they made me feel so welcome and comfortable. Thank you, David and Kiyomi!
David and Kyomi are very welcoming and opened their home to me and my dog! The room was large, clean and lovely bathroom in a tranquil setting. Would definitely recommend for a pit stop from Brisbane - Sydney or spend a few days to unwind! Thanks again.
David and Kiyomi are wonderful hosts - they are very helpful, informative and interesting. The stay with them was more than I expected, and I highly recommend them to anyone looking to stay in a lovely property in a quiet position with exceptional hosts.
Thank you David and Kiyomi. I'll be back!
This was our second stay with David and Kiyomi - and it was just as fun as the first time. They were both very welcoming and made us feel right at home. We explored different parts of the area this time, driving up to Sawtell and walking the amazing 1 km boardwalk that starts in Urunga near a caravan park and winds through thick mangroves out towards the head land and beach. Spectacular views at sunset. We hope to visit David and Kiyomi again.

About the Host, David
I've been an illustrator for years working in Sydney and 19 years in London. My work has appeared in all the quality newspapers in the UK and on book covers and elsewhere. I now live on 5 acres of sub-tropical bushland near a pristine beach on the mid north coast. I have a studio for painting and printmaking and most of the equipment came from 19th century London. I live here with Kiyomi and we love animals. We have two cats and have looked after dogs on many occasions. Kiyomi is a fabulous cook.
Our joint interests are animals, the garden, travel, food, music and languages. Between us we speak 6 languages. I aslo like classic cars, my BMW motorbike and railways.
