Interaction with Guests
Guest will be greeted by myself (Juliet) or Iain and one of is usually available if you require any information. On occasion when I work breakfast will be laid out and you will be required to self/serve, but we will let you know if that is to happen.
The area is called Davidson's Mains, we are five minute's walk away to friendly pubs serving food, two Indian take away's, a chinese take away and a Fish & Chip shop. Also in the village there is a Tesco Supermarket, two Banks, a Chemist, two Hairdressers, a Beauticians, a Post Office, a Dry Cleaners/laundromat, a Cafe, three Churches and a large tree enclosed park with kids playpark.
We are neighbours to Lauriston Castle a 16th-century tower house which overlooks the Firth of Forth. There are tours of the Castle at the weekend but the grounds are open daily and free to visit including the Japanese garden and fantastic views to the sea.
You can take lovely sea shore and river walks around to Cramond. Cramond Village and harbour have Roman Ruins and the earliest known site of human settlement in Scotland.
We have private parking on our drive and are on a good bus route. The bus stop is a five minute walk away where you can catch a bus every 10 to 20 minutes to the city centre (a 20 minute bus ride away) or to the airport (a 35 minute bus ride away).
You can get a bus to us from the airport which requires one change of bus.
A taxi is around £15 and takes about 20 minutes.
There is also a cycle path just behind our house to the centre, if you wish to hire bikes.

Really enjoyed myself in a really nice part of Edinburgh. Lovely to stay out of the centre and with a really accomodating host and friendly family. Warm and comfortable and a seriously comfy bed.
Thank you for your warm welcome Juliet, will contact to stay again if possible if I'm ever up that way again! Don't forget to watch the animation film The Illusionist - L'Illusionniste (by Sylvain Chomet) - you'll love it! Edinburgh animated...!
Juliet and her husband made me very welcome on my arrival, and made me a cuppa as I was settling in ,. the accommodation was as described , lovely comfortable bedroom and as I was the only guest had sole use of annexe and bathroom. Juliet was the perfect host and helpful with information and also booked my taxi prior to leaving early in morning
Juliet's home is beautiful. Super clean, warm and cozy. Breakfast was delicious and the kitchen is the most adorable setting. We feel very comfortable and welcomed. The location is safe in a cute neighborhood. It was convenient to take the double deck bus; the top floor gives an excellent view of the city. Several lines runs very often in different directions and in an accurate timetable! We loved Edinburgh and we'll come back to Juliet's home without doubts.
Juliet is a great host and very helpful, the accommodation is clean and conveniently located, I would highly recommend the property and will make use it again in the future.
Juliet and Ian were lovely hosts and their home in Davidson's Mains was perfect. The accommodation was comfortable, clean and cosy. A TV is provided in the room along with a separate bathroom solely for guests' use. Juliet provided a lovely breakfast each morning. I was made to feel at home and wouldn't hesitate in recommending this accommodation to future guests.
We hadden hier een prima overnachting. Juliet is een prima gastvrouw (evenals haar familie) en we kregen goede tips. De buurt is prima en de kamer waar we verbleven voldeed prima aan de verwachting. Voor herhaling vatbaar.
