Winner - Air New Zealand Cook Islands Tourism Award 2011-12 - Best Private Home
This high-ceilinged 100 year old Colonial timber bungalow was moved from the owners village to her family land on the beach. The home has been enlarged, fully restored, with 2 decks added. Absolute beachfront, sitting well off of the main road its next door neighbour is Rumours of Rarotonga, a 5 star accommodation. Held in trust for Aloma Moore, the youngest accommodation owner in the Cook Islands, this is the only Colonial era dwelling on Rarotonga available to visitors.
The bungalow is located on Tikioki Beach, at the southern end of Muri Beach and has the advantages of being on the ’right’ side of the island without being in the centre of the Muri Beach developed area. The best restaurants and other attractions are a comfortable walk down the beach, while privacy is assured. The wide lagoon in front of the bungalow is on the edge of a large marine reserve, with the best snorkeling on Rarotonga.
The bungalow has been faithfully restored while adding modern appliances and features. A stainless steel and ceramic tile kitchen with a bevelled glass view of the lagoon offers a sunrise outlook.
Smoking is outdoors only - the covered porch is o-k.
We had a wonderful stay at the Beach Place. Our host picked us at the airport at 3 am in the morning and provided a lot of information around the house and the area. They also provided us breakfast groceries for the next days. We loved to go snorkeling and kayaking in front of the house. Muri beach with restaurants and supermarket is a 20 min. walk away.
If we ever come back to Rarotonga we would book this house again.
The Beach Place was fabulous. We experienced quite a bit of rain during our stay but the outdoor deck area was perfect (and protected and private) for watching the lagoon and beach an enjoying the sea air - even better when it wasn't raining!!
We had excellent hosts who were available if we needed to ask anything. The bedroom, lounge, bathroom (including bath) and kitchen were all spacious and lovely to be in. The kitchen is well equipped for cooking.
We would totally recommend Rarotonga and The Beach Place for a holiday - only wish we could have stayed longer.
the house is beautiful, spacious and very clean.
The pictures on the website do not do the beauty and simplicity of the house.
The location on the beach and 'fantastic.
It is located halfway between the town and the north east for the sunset, 5 10-minute walk from the Walls. (Scooter rental, food market, the most important show of Raratonga)
The lady and 'very friendly, welcoming atmosphere.
Complete with all necessary facilities. Excellent cuisine overlooking the lagoon.
Excellent availability of the kayak.
Cabin was very comfortable, view was beautiful, loved that the back yard and deck were very private feeling, useful kitchen area, loved that it was steps from the beach. We kayaked right off the back yard it felt like, enjoyed swimming where the lagoon water temperature was super pleasant-- just overall a wonderful stay. Very kind host. We would book here again if we are ever lucky enough to return to Rarotonga.
We had a wonderful Xmas stay in the beach place. Can't recommend it enough. Complete beachfront. The pictures don't do it justice. Very charming colonial style interiors with nice art, comfortable bed and spacious lounge room. Kitchen looks out onto the beach, which is nice to cook in.
Lovely apartment at a great part of Muri beach. They have kayaks for use, a full kitchen and a washing machine, all of which make a much more convenient stay.
Great apartment . Very very clean and great value for money. We had a lovely stay and would highly recommend Aloma as a great host.
