  • Such a lovely place to stay! Exceeded our every expectation. Stephen & Karen were very gracious hosts and happily shared their home & town while respecting our privacy. Very clean & comfortable accommodations ideally situated a short walk from downtown. We'll definitely be back!

  • The small rental home was great. Spotless, great bed, comfortable furniture, quiet, and within an easy walk to town. Steve and Karen were accessible and easy to talk with. Their place was exactly as advertised. We plan to return for a longer visit.

  • Stephen and Karen's guest house is just that - it is as big as a house, and we were treated like guests. Stephen told us that his policy was to respect his guests privacy, but they did not have to worry about bothering him or Karen with questions.
The house is about 600-650 square feet. It has all the amenities a traveller would want - full kitchen, powerful shower, king sized bed, outside seating area, heat for cool mornings, cable tv with many channels, ... the list goes on. All of this comes in good shape; it is not worn or dated. And it is clean. That is important to travelers like us.
The additional aspect that made our stay special was the friendliness of our host and hostess. They were a wealth of information - answering questions we had, sharing ideas about where to go and what to do in the Petaluma area. We picked this area because it is central to many things to see and do in Northern California - Point Reyes National Park, Bolinas (the hidden hippie city), Highway #1 and a trip up the coast to Mendocino and Fort Bragg, the wine regions of Sonoma and Napa Valley ... There is a lot to see and do. The city of Petaluma has much to offer as well. Stephen and Karen took the time to confirm our ideas as sound, and then offer additional things to do and see that only seasoned locals could.
We do not hesitate to recommend this place and these people to anyone looking for a place to stay.

  • We have stayed several times with Steve and Karen during our move to Petaluma. They are both incredibly friendly, caring, helpful, and responsive - we feel so lucky to have met them!

The house itself is also wonderful: immaculately clean with bright and fun decorations, great kitchen, clean and modern bathroom, and a bedroom with a huge, comfortable bed. The house is in a great location and is within walking distance of downtown.

Overall, between Steve, Karen, and the house itself, this is easily one of the best places to stay in Petaluma!

  • Fantastic place to stay in Petaluma. Stephen and Karen were very accommodating and the guesthouse is perfect with every amenity we could have wanted for a weekend trip to wine country.

  • My fiancé and I had a lovely time at this cottage. It was beautiful, cozy, and exactly what we needed. The kitchen and living room are spacious and the bedroom is airy and very comfortable. We walked to the little downtown area of Petaluma for dinner and had a great night!

Not only is the guest house lovely, but the hosts are incredible. They were very welcoming and showed us everything we needed when we checked in. But, they went ABOVE AND BEYOND when we lost our car key and searched for it for over an hour with us (they, like, CSI searched for the key - they are awesome).

Thank you both for your help, and for the lovely weekend!

  • Stephen and Karen's place was great! Very comfortable, and quite spacious. Don't understand why anyone would choose to stay in a hotel when places like Stephan and Karen's are an option. It felt like our own home - big comfortable bed, nice bathroom, and everything you could possibly need in the kitchen. Stephen and Karen were also super friendly and helpful. We had an amazing time in Petaluma because of our temporary home, which, by the way, was conveniently located - just a short and pleasant stroll from the lovely town. We will be back!

  • Karen and Stephen are terrific, helpful, interesting people. Their guest accomodations are top-drawer: private, well-furnished and well-stocked, quiet, and immaculate. We're definitely coming back!

  • My boyfriend and I stayed at Stephen and Karen's place for about 5 days. It was a wonderful place to stay--a full size house/apartment unit with a good kitchen, comfortable bed, nice linens, easy parking and plenty of room. It was in a great location--easy to walk to anything in town which we did every day. We definitely recommend to other airbnb-ers!

I am a retired information super-highway roadworker. My wife is a Special Education teacher at our local high school. We were both born & raised in Northern California & love our NorCal & Petaluma. We've lived in Petaluma for 30 years & have been active in our community & are blessed with a large circle of wonderful friends. We've also travelled extensively in Northern California, the USA, Europe & Mexico. When we travel we prefer to use airbnb and local Bed & Breakfasts. One of the benefits of using a service like airbnb is meeting interesting people from around the world, travelers that aren't afraid to venture off of Main Street into the neighborhoods. We love to share our beloved NorCal area with our guests.
