I stayed at Casa Pavo Real, Oaxaca Mexico, for 2 days and the experience was awesome! Ted and Edvard were so gracious and friendly and really made me feel at home. Ted gave me a welcome orientation and showed me a few main points of interest. He and Edvard also included me in their plans with friends and we even went out for drinks on the town! Could not ask for a better experience. You will fit right in, in no time. Oaxaca is a great Mexican colonial city and Casa Pava Real is a great place to access it from. Bienviendos and happy travels!!

I stayed at Casa Pavo Real with a friend for 10 days in December 2012. We were going to stay at an apartment and that fell through in the 11th hour. Well, it turns out that our stay at Casa Pavo Real was meant to be. Ted and Edvard welcomed us and made us as comfortable as one can be in a person’s home. We became instant friends and have to say that it was very difficult leaving them and Oaxaca. The accommodations were great. The house has a lot of character and they have made it feel very homey. Ted and Edvard were very resourceful and helpful. It was great to get their perspective and insight on Oaxaca, gay life in Oaxaca as well as the gay nightlife. You can also practice your Spanish with Edvard. We went out several times together and also felt comfortable coming and going as we pleased. We got to know several of their friends which I now consider friends of mine. The house was very clean and comfortable, the pets were friendly and added to the personality of the house, the wifi was very good and Ted whipped up some nice breakfasts. If you have trouble sleeping through noise then the front bedroom (they have two they rent out) which faces the street may not be the best for you but other than that, I had a wonderful experience and would undoubtedly return.

Thanks so much for making Oaxaca the highlight of our trip thus far... which was totally due to meeting YOU! I wish we could have a beer with you like we did at Luna Rossa in any given Mexican town...that was so fun and your life is very inspiring Ted. I do hope our paths cross again.
We are very easy to get along with, and normally expectations of someone visting our home, can be anticipated. We provide you with a manual of codes, and rules upon your arrival.
Ted & Edvard were very welcoming and helpful. Communication prior to booking was easy and Ted answered all our questions with very little delay. The 2 rooms we had were perfect! My husband and 2 kids share a HUGE room that even had a living area. It was always cool which was great to come relax in the afternoon and get out of the heat. The house is big so we had our privacy on the second floor. The 3 breakfasts we had were amazing! Ted cooked something different every time and there was always fruit, yogurt, cereal, juice, coffee etc available as well.
The B&B is located just outside the downtown area we wanted to explore. Walkable for adults but a bit too far with 2 kids (4 year old and 4 month old). But it's a short cab ride away and we had no issues getting a taxi. We fell in love with Oaxaca and hope to visit again.
Thank you Ted & Edvard!
An excellent place to stay, Ted and Edvard are hospitable and fun. Breakfast was DELICIOUS and Ted kindly had food ready before our early departure. Highly recommended! Thank you Ted & Edvard.
I absolutely loved my stay at Casa Pavo. I arrived and was made to feel instantly welcome. My room was extremely comfortable and private. I was welcomed to make myself at home. Ted made a very generous breakfast in the mornings, with fruit and yoghurt as well as a traditional Mexican breakfast main. There is always purified water available.
The location was great. I slept soundly during the night and enjoyed the 20 minute walk into the main town centre as it meant I could explore further. The neighbourhood was quiet and I walked around on my own in daylight and at dusk and felt very safe. There is a very handy convenience store just around the corner too. There are cafes, restaurants and a large supermarket all very close by.
The house was clean as was my room and the shared bathroom is attended to everyday.
I was fortunate enough to have the company and help of some great fellow guests as well.
I felt very safe and secure during my stay and if the opportunity ever arises I would be back to stay in a flash.
Our stay with Ted and Edwardo was fantastic. The house is beautiful and incredibly comfortable. Every morning Ted cooked a fabulous breakfast and we sat down with all the guests staying in the house to talk and share tips. Ted has a wealth of knowledge on the local way of life, and great places to go. We woukd definitely recommend staying with him.
Our visit with Ted and Eduardo was just wonderful. They were kind and extremely helpful from the moment we arrived after a very long day of travel. The house is lovely—even better than the photographs. It was great fun just talking with them. The breakfasts they served were fabulous and it was nice just sharing the time with other guests. We had no special needs, but noticed that they did make a special breakfast for a gluten-free guest. We only had two days there and we were sorry to have to leave. We look forward to going back and staying with them again.
May stay with Ted has been most wonderful. I really had no expectations since he had been recommanded by a mutual friend and I had not had the time to read his reviews. Ted is a great, no fuss hoste, very accomodating and considerate. His place is a wonderful oasis graced by beauty and ease.
Ted was an incredible host, and a very kind man. He accommodated my boyfriend and I last minute (day of our request) and gave us his amazing rooftop suite. We had beautiful views of Oaxaca, and him and his partner Edvardo gave us tons of advice for great places to eat, day trips, and travel beyond our trip to his barrio.
Something really special about that trip was that not only did Ted prepare us beautiful breakfast every morning, he sat down and shared them with us too. We absolutely recommend staying here, and if we ever come back to Oaxaca we will hope its available too. Don't miss out on this lovely experience.
