Casale di Cellole is an old farm in the heart of Chianti. Less than ten kilometers from Siena, is located on a hill near the Certosa di Pontignano and consists of a main house, a barn and other outbuildings distributed among olive groves, vineyards and woods crossed by deer, pheasants and hares.
The renovation of the property has divided the house into four apartments: the home of the owner and apartments Zoo, Moon and River. The renovation has tried to combine the ancient architectural features with modernity and sophistication, design and art.
Objects, paintings and lamps inspired by the animal give birth to Zoo, a spacious apartment for two people on two floors. The ground floor entrance leads into a living room with armchairs and a fireplace. A large arch separates the living room from the dining area and the kitchen equipped with every comfort. Upstairs there is a large bedroom and a bathroom with shower. Four large windows overlooking the garden and surrounding hills.
Outside, the large garden full of flowers houses a use of the apartment, consisting of a pergola with a table for lunch and dinner, and space for rest and relax. An ancient stone pool has been transformed into a small shared pool that offers cool during the hottest summer days.
My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Casale di Cellole in the Zoo apartment, which is set in a lovely farmhouse, along with the three others. Zoo itself is modern and spacious yet homely, with everything we needed for our stay. The grounds surrounding the house were peaceful and relaxing with lots of places to sit, eat and relax. Elisa and her family were very welcoming and helpful, providing suggestions of where to buy provisions for the week and even gave us some of their home grown figs to try. I would highly recommend Casale di Cellole to anyone who wants a peaceful location to use as a base for exploring Tuscany or somewhere to relax and watch the world go by.
After a few days taking in the wonderful sights of Rome, the thought of relaxing in the Tuscan countryside with a glass of Chianti wine was sheer bliss. On arrival it was clear that Casale di Cellole was exactly what we were looking for in location and appearance.
Unfortunately Elisa was on holiday so we didn't get to meet her, however, she left her charming brother, Angelo, in charge who welcomed my husband and I on arrival. Angelo looked after us for the rest of our stay and was very accommodating and knowledgeable about Tuscany, providing us with some fantastic recommendations for restaurants, pizzerias, coffee haunts and wineries in the local area.
We stayed in the Zoo apartment which was extremely spacious and just perfect for 2 people. It has a rustic farmhouse feel but is complemented with all the mod-cons you would want and expect. The large upstairs bedroom has been left tastefully basic with an impressive wardrobe and the most comfortable chair my husband has ever sat on! The whitewashed wooden structural beams on the ceiling are a great look and gives it a country chic quality which we both love. The bathroom was very modern with an amazing shower! We preferred to stay in and cook for most of our stay, and the kitchen was well stocked with all the appliances we needed. Fresh tomatoes, herbs and home grown honey were kindly left for us by our hosts - all produce from the garden!
The location could not have been better. Situated in the heart of the Chianti wine country and only 10 minutes drive from the magnificent medieval walled town of Siena. Siena plays host to the world famous Palio di Siena horse race, a tradition kept for centuries, which involves the riders racing bareback around the Piazza del Campo. This event is extremely popular and attracts thousands of spectators mainly from the neighbouring towns with a few tourists mixed in too. We were lucky enough to witness this years Palio, a truly incredible event and a must if you are in the area at the time.
One of the highlights of our stay were the sunsets from Casale di Cellole - magnificent! My husband and I would sit outside most nights with a glass of Tuscan wine and watch the sun go down over the beautiful valley beneath us. We completely feel in love with Tuscany and Casale di Cellole. We will definitely be back again!
My Husband and I, along with our 5 1/2 month old, were lucky enough to spend 5 days at Elisa and Allesandro's amazing place. We had a wonderful experience and the most difficult thing is to know where to start when talking about how awesome it was.
Casale di Cellole is a beautifully renovated farm, each space, both the public areas and the zoo apartment are so carefully thought out and so comfortable. Elisa generously provided a crib for our baby and even fresh lettuce for our dinner. I cannot begin to explain what a wonderful vacation we had in this beautiful setting, it was great for us and our small family but we cannot wait to go back and rent all 4 apartments for our extended family!
It was an amazing experience. The house is unbelievable and very well located to visit other towns and vineyards... and the view insuperable!
I Really Really Really recomend it. For sure one of the best places I stayed during my trip to Italy.
Elisa was a great host. Very kind and always tried to give us the best recomendations to look around and have a great stay. We loved her!
We loved our stay in the Zoo apartment at Casale di Cellole. It was was everything we wanted for our stay in Tuscany. It was very spacious, modern yet rustic and had incredible views of the Tuscan countryside. We had our own private outdoor dining area surrounded by beautiful flowers (and some wildlife). The kitchen was well-equipped (we had everything we needed to cook at home) and bathroom was updated. Big bedroom and comfy bed! There are three other apartments, but each area has its own private outdoor area and privacy was never a problem. The location was very close to Siena and a good home base for exploring Tuscany, especially the Chianti region. Elisa was a good and gracious host and always very responsive (both prior to the trip and while we were there). It was a beautiful property and we wouldn't hesitate to return. Elisa has created a serene, lovely place to visit.
The Zoo apartment was even better than we had imagined. The finishes were of top quality and everything you needed was at your disposal. The views from the yard were spectacular and it was nice to catch some rays with the sun lounges provided or snuggle up in front of the fire on colder nights.
Elisa was the perfect host and even called to make restaurant reservations for us. When we return to Tuscany we would look no further than Elisa's place.
