Chic downtown studio +100m2 terrace

Apartment - Entire home/apt · Cerrada de San Sebastián, Guanajuato, Guanajuato 36000, Mexico

Beautiful, modern, fully equipped downtown studio apartment. Two terraces. Expansive city views. Quiet. 1-2 min walk to market, bakery, fruit and vegetable, wine stores. Located in flat part of Guanajuato, ~10 min to Jardín de la Unión. No stairs!!!

The Space

This studio apartment is located in a house on one of the oldest alleys in the city. You won't find a more beautiful apt in Guanajuato. Excellent location on the edge of downtown- on a quiet and peaceful alley.

The living area is furnished with high quality minimalist furniture: an upholstered chair and loveseat, small coffee tables, as well as a generous sized dining table with two chairs. Plenty of closet space. A separate sleeping space with a matrimonial bed is located behind a half-height wall. Full kitchen, including stove with oven, and polished concrete counters inlaid with glass and stones, and a breakfast bar. The bathroom is spacious and bright. The apt is approximately 400 sq ft / 40m2, a perfect size for 1 or 2 people.

Guests have access to a second floor terrace just outside the apt, and a 100m2 roof terrace with 360 degree views of the city and mountains. The view from the second floor terrace is beautiful, while the view from the roof terrace is spectacular. The apt is located on a little hill set in the center of the city, which allows for the great views.

The apt is on the edge of downtown, next to the Jardín Embajadoras, a 2 minute walk to one of the two public markets in Guanajuato, and an easy ~10 minute walk to the Jardín de la Unión, the center of Guanajuato cultural life (restaurants, bars, music). Since the apt is not on the slope of one of the mountains rising around the city center, it is about as flat as Guanajuato can be. The location is easily accessible by car, bus or taxi. Some street parking is available.

Rental fee includes weekly cleaning service. Guests have access to a washer and dryer at no extra charge.

If you need transportation to or from the airport (or anywhere else), or a tour guide, we can recommend an excellent person.

Hosts are a US/Mexican couple, fluent in Spanish and English.

Interaction with Guests

Los dueños viven en la casa, abajo del depto. Hablan inglés y español- una pareja de EEUU y México.

The Neighborhood

  • We consider Stewart to be a very considerate host concerned with our comfort and happiness while staying in his studio. The accommodations surpassed our expectations.

  • We spent 8 days (4more than planned) in Guanajuato at this great B&B; we loved both the city and our suite. The location is excellent, sits high above the bustle of the market below, overlooking the centro, an awesome view but only a short, nonsteep, walk away into the center.
Stewart is a congenial, conscientious host with your comfort a priority, with lots of info, directions & guide books to help is optimize our visit to Guanajuato & surrounding areas.
The suite itself was immaculate, contemporary with Mexican flare, comfortable, and well equipped for cooking, laundry and hot showers.
We highly recommend Stewart and this well valued accommodation, however do check taxi fares before committing (reg fare from the bus station should be 45 pesos, we were charged 150 by the B&B's recommended taxi which is a nicer vehicle than most, but still was more than we considered "reasonable").

  • We loved the house itself, the design, the bold colors that never clashed, the sense of space. Stewart and Lucero have an attention to detail that makes you feel at home as you find everything you need, all the small touches mattered.
The rooftop terrace has a great view and just a nice vibe, the kitchen has all you need to prepare an evening snack and drink and to just sit observing the city.
Being in a residential neighborhood was a nice change from the tourist filled center. There are currently construction works on the road downtown but we didn't mind those. I would definitely recommend the space for longer stays!

  • This place is beautiful. We really enjoyed the views of downtown from both the terrace and the kitchen. The location is great and Stewart is a great host the pays attention to the small details that make a place more enjoyable (like coffee and a wine opener :) ) He made some great recommendations. It feels like your living in Guanajuato!

  • Everything about the experience was beyond my expectations. The apartment itself is beautiful, modern and clean. I looked around at different properties on this site, as well as, at local hotels and hostels - and the value of this studio simply cannot be beat. We had complete privacy and use of all facilities (laundry room, balcony and rooftop access). Stewart provided us with free wifi and a local cellphone for our convenience. The neighborhood is quiet and located by a great landmark (the baseball stadium) so you will never get lost. You are also near a great indoor/outdoor market and park with lots of food options, a mere 45 second walk around the corner from the front door. The rooftop view is gorgeous, as the building sits on a hill and overlooks the vibrant city and surrounding mountains. Add to this the well-lit and bright apartment, we almost didn't want to leave to go into town every morning. Communication with Stewart was always excellent and prompt. As a host, he was, and will be, immensely helpful. He is a super nice, knowledgeable and interesting person. I highly recommend him and his studio.

  • The apartment was lovely...so very well laid out and so comfortable. Stewart and his wife have done an amazing job in putting it all together...really worth the five star rating. The views from both terraces were fabulous! The condo is very accessible to the town, shopping and all transportation. We loved our time in Guanajuato and hope to return some day soon. Anyone that decides to rent this space will be very happy that they did!

  • Stuart's apartment was lovely, clean, and comfortable. We didn't get to meet him because he was drawn away by a family death. He was very accommodating in helping us via telephone communications with our visit to Guanajauto.

  • There are many excellent reasons to stay in this "chic downtown studio." Chic it is – with attractive, comfortable furnishings. Studio – well, yes, if you only consider the large, interior room. But the glassed-in balcony (no roof) with its circular staircase leading to the rooftop terrace and its incredible views triples both its physical and emotional size. Downtown -- well, not really, and that only adds to its allure. A ten minute walk to Guanajuato's main street, the apartment is in a real neighborhood -- tranquil, safe, with its own market and park filled with local residents. Stay a couple of days and you'll become friends with the juice guy who for 38 years has offered a combo of carrots and beets -- good for the eyes and the blood, he proclaims -- and, inside the smaller market building, the woman and young man who make tasty gorditas stuffed with carnitas, nopales and pickled onions. And, with patience, you will wait with many others to place your order for a chile relleno quesadilla at the stand at the bottom of the hill run by an older couple (she cooks, he fans the flames). And do stop by for the sprightly (cooked) shrimp coctel at the stand in the park nearest the street (and with tables as well as stools). Throughout your stay, Stewart -- a most gracious and accessible host -- remains available to answer questions and offer restaurant suggestions. Book it now!

  • great vibe - great view - great location for shopping in & around the Embajadores plaza right outside - easy walk downtown to the Centro, no hills to climb - appreciated Stewart's gracious & responsive hosting - the rooftop terrace at twilight is superb

  • Do yourself favor and stay at this fantastic studio apartment. I think it has the best location, and certainly the best view, in Guanajuato! I found wonderful bakeries steps from my door. A lovely little mercado, "Embajadoras" and a little cafe "Que Gordita" a half block away. It's quiet, comfortable, and the decor is bright and there is an abundance of natural light--which I'm told is rare in Gto. The bathroom was very well designed, as was the rest of the apartment's layout. Steward and Lucero, his wife, are warm and helpful. I stayed 9 nights--and enjoyed every minute!
