The room has a lockable door for privacy, & contains a queen-size double bed with comfortable therapeutic mattress, built-in wardrobe, free wireless broadband internet + broadband ethernet cable (in case you don't have wireless capability), own mini fridge (in kitchen), & use of the living room, kitchen & outdoor BBQ courtyard.
This open-plan, Asian-inspired residence features separate lounge & dining areas, 1 bathroom & 2 separate toilets (one with heated seat & automatic bidet), courtyard with BBQ and outdoor furniture, & separate relaxing meditation garden.
*Non-smoking indoor environment, but smoking is possible in the outdoor courtyard.
We share a complimentary platter of antipasto & bottle of wine to welcome you and get to know each other upon your arrival.
A simple breakfast (muesli, toast, jam & tea/coffee/fruit juice) is complimentary each morning.
Our modern & sunny home is in a quiet location - 20 minutes from Sydney International Airport (car pick up can be arranged for extra fee). If you have a car, you'll find plenty of safe, free street parking right in front of the house.
There's a large park 2 doors down the road, another 2 parks within 5 minutes walk, & a small village of shops with a great alfesco café 4 minutes walk from the front door.
We are 2 minutes walk to bus stop, 7 minutes walk to train station, 10 minutes walk to numerous ethnic restaurants (list of recommendations available) & supermarket (open 6AM - 12 midnight) , 10 minutes walk to golf course, 10 minutes drive (or train ride) to 5 Cronulla beaches, & 15 minutes drive to the historic Birthplace of Australia - Kurnell, where Captain Cook landed in 1770 on his 'voyage of discovery'.
The E.G. Waterhouse National Camelia Gardens (free entry) are 15 minutes walk away, or 5 minutes by car.
We are also 20 minutes drive to the heritage-listed, 16,000 hectare Royal National Park - the world's second oldest National Park, after Yellowstone in USA. This is a great weekend retreat for bushwalking & 'getting back to nature'.
Symbio Wildlife Park (an open-air zoo where you can play with & touch various native Australian animals such as kangaroos, koalas, wombats etc.) is a 25-minute drive, or 40 minutes by train & bus from home.
NanTien Temple (南天寺) - the largest Buddhist temple in the southern hemisphere, & popular international tourist attraction - is a one-hour scenic drive south in Wollongong.
We speak 中文(普通话, 広東話, 福建話), 日本語, Bahasa Malaysia, some French - and English, of course.
*Our home has no provision for children unfortunately, so we can only accept adult guests.
You have a Queen-size bed with comfortable therapeutic mattress in your private room with lockable door, & your own mini-refrigerator in the kitchen. You have access to lots of Maps & Tourist Information books & pamphlets to plan your stay, wireless & cable broadband internet, the sitting room with digital TV, & the kitchen.
As mentioned in my introduction, I enjoy meeting an interacting with my guests. I provide a bottle of wine & some finger foods on the first night, so we can have a chat & get to know each other.
You are welcome to become 'part of the family' & share evenings together watching TV or DVDs, or come walking around the neighbourhood with my dog during the day.
I'm always available to give advice on sightseeing & tourist attractions in Sydney, great local restaurants or places that we 'locals' frequent, so please feel free to ask me anytime.
If you prefer to stay in your room - I respect your privacy. The amount of interaction is entirely your decision.
Michael was kind enough to host my wife during the 3 days that she attended a local conference. As well as taking the time and trouble to send several helpful advance travel tips to assist her journey, she was greeted with welcome drinks and canapés followed by a home cooked dinner. Her stay was comfortable, incredibly convenient for travel, and we could have not asked for more from a very gracious and helpful host willing to go the extra mile. Thank you Michael.
If you're stopping by in Sydney and looking for a more personal way to discover the city, you couldn't ask (email hidden)! My partner and I received a warm welcome from Michael, his hardworking nephew Alex, and his handsome husky Misha. For the brief six days that we were in Sydney, he made us a part of his family. He showed us around, shared amazing stories, gave the best and most thorough recommendations for places to visit and to eat, and cracked the funniest jokes. We felt so at home.
In short, Michael takes the same thoughtful care of his guests as he does with his beautiful home. When next we visit Sydney, he will definitely be our first choice.
Pleasant stay in quiet area of leafy Caringbah. Comfortable room with gracious host. A good introduction to airbnb.
Great private room with good access to all facilities. The house is nice and the area is quiet and safe.
Michael, the host was very kind and tried his best making me welcomed. Realy felt at home.
The area has great access if you're traveling south by car or into sydney with a 50 min train ride to central or town hall. Only $7 off peak return.
Good value for money. Recommended.
Great location in a quiet street with ample street parking and a short stroll to all necessary amenities. Michael really makes you feel welcome and provides everything you need. It was great to share a drink with him and a few hors d'oeuvres which he prepared to welcome us to his home. Dog lovers in particular would love it here as his Husky Misha provides great company. Our first week in our new community was made extremely easy for us.
This (email hidden) to stay. Micheal, Alex and Misha quickly made me feel welcome. The house was clean and interesting, full of treasures from Micheal's travelling. They were genuinely kind ,really interesting and very generous. The area itself is safe especially if you are a single female traveller. The room has a lock- (a rare thing in Australia) although youll probably wont feel the need to do so especially with the interesting conversation you can have. Its 30 min walk to cronulla or 30 min walk to Westfield Miranda.Youll find plenty of things to do around the area but if you would like to end up in the city - the station is only 10 min away and the cost is $6 return during off (website hidden) all in all you get the best of the city for a fraction of the price... plus its close to cronulla. :D
This was a wonderful find. A welcoming, warm, spotlessly clean, very safe home in Sydney - walking distance to local shops and restaurants and the train station. Street parking for my car was ample and again very safe. My room was at the back of the house so was very quiet. It had a keyed lock on the door (a thoughtful touch for people travelling solo - although I really didn't feel the need to use it), shelving and hanging space, an extremely comfortable QS bed with great pillows, plenty of natural like and fresh air - it was very pleasant indeed. To the hosts. Michael and Alex are now my friends and were so hospitable and generous - Michael even made an antipasto - complete with fab smoked salmon - and we shared a bottle of his best red. We shared meals together, stories, TV programs and laughs too. They were just genuinely kind and really interesting people and I plan to stay in touch and definitely stay there again. Misha, the beautiful Huskie, was the icing on an already great cake. I definitely recommend Michael's home to anyone wanting a quiet, safe and friendly oasis to stay in. It was just great and I was sad to leave after 6 nights. Oh, and they have about 6 languages between them. Enjoy!!
Michael was a very kind and helpful host. Offering us a ride to the beach if we needed to and serving us cold drinks after a long walk in the city. His place was very clean and full of interesting things from around the world. We also had good talks about Australian history, food and culture; everything a good traveller needs to know about the country.
We wish we could have stayed there even longer. :)
And hi to Misha and Alex!
