The space

My apartment has 3.5 metre ceilings and polished concrete floors throughout and is cool in summer, warm in winter. There is a large private courtyard with fake grass, generous open plan living area (with queen size sofa bed), full kitchen, laundry, separate bedroom and an en-suite bathroom.

Being at the back of the building on the ground floor, it is wonderfully quiet with absolutely no traffic or construction noise (incredibly rare in the CBD!) and no bright sunlight to wake you in the morning.

-Free WiFi internet and home phone
-Fetch TV (includes catch-up TV), Netflix and Stan (streaming services)
-Sonos music system with Spotify Premium and Apple Music
-Stove top coffee maker, french press with organic coffee and a selection of teas provided (and milk!)
-Fully equipped cook's kitchen with high quality pots, pans, gadgets and microwave, along with a well stocked pantry bursting with (mostly organic) herbs, spices, oils etc for use during your stay
-Dishwasher, washing machine, clothes dryer, iron and ironing board
-Queen size bed *new Nov 2106* with fresh linen, lots of pillows and plenty of storage space (including coat hangers)
-Queen size sofa bed
-Fresh towels, hairdryer, a selection of toiletries and a large powerful rain head shower
-Information Booklet with details about the apartment along with tips and recommendations for your stay; maps and brochures; magazines and newspapers with up to date event listings including Time Out Melbourne and Gourmet Traveller
-Myki cards for use on public transport (if travelling outside the CBD Free Tram Zone)

-The price listed is for two people per night with a minimum stay of two nights (please let me know if you need the sofa bed, otherwise I'll assume you're a couple!)
-One or two extra guests can stay on the queen size sofa bed in the spacious living room for $25 each per night (maximum four guests total)
-Please check availability with me in advance before booking as other dates may be available despite the calendar displaying otherwise. This is my home, but I travel often and house sit for friends and colleagues a lot- that's when I make my apartment available for guests
-Please be sure to read all the info on the website thoroughly, including the excellent FAQs

Interaction with guests

I always welcome guests on arrival with a brief tour of the apartment and to hand over the keys. I am then available 24/7 via email or phone for questions or to help solve any issues. If I'm working or out of the country, either my best friend or one of my fantastic neighbours will be available.

Getting around

Public transport is easily accessible from my apartment- Flagstaff Station is a 5 min. walk, Melbourne Central Station is a gentle 8 min. stroll. The nearest City Circle Tram stop is 4 mins. away on the next block and other trams heading in all directions are a 4- 10 min. walk. All trams are free in the CBD Free Tram Zone and Myki cards are supplied for all other travel. Public Transport also operates 24 hours on Friday and Saturday.

There is a taxi rank across the street, and plenty of Uber drivers in the area.

Street parking is free overnight, and there is a car park next door with cheap early bird rates and a $7 flat rate on weekends and public holidays.

Other things to note

-Check-out is flexible, but check-in no earlier than 10am. Where possible, please let me know your arrival/departure times at time of booking
-I'm happy to accept inquiries from first time users, but only with a completed profile including a photo and some basic information, along with verification. It's nice to know a little something about potential guests before welcoming them into my home

Daria was really easy to communicate with. Her place was as described - a funky lofty ground floor apartment. Daria made me feel at ease to make myself at home. Like a home away from home for a week. It was quiet, even though surrounded by a residential high rise. I was even able to work in the apartment without disruption. Close to a tram and train stop, park and Queen Vic Markets. Lots of positives!

My adult daughter and I visited Melbourne for the Australian Open. Daria was a great host and we were very comfortable in her lovely apartment which looks exactly as it does in the pictures and has everything you could possibly need for a Melbourne stay. The high ceilings were an added bonus, as was the courtyard. The location is very convenient, in the free tram zone and only a couple of minutes' walk from the Queen Vic Markets. We also found it was easy walking distance to the CBD. We were pleasantly surprised at how quiet the apartment is - we heard hardly any traffic noise or noise from other apartments in the building.

Had a great experience staying at Daria's place, Christina was there to welcome us on arrival and answer any questions we had. Very comfortable apartment with everything we needed during our stay, great location within walking distance to everything we needed. I would highly recommend this apartment to anyone looking for a place to stay in Melbourne.

Daria was friendly, attentive and welcoming to both my sister and I. As previous reviews have said, she was able to meet us at our arrival time and show us around her den, which is lovely and well appointed. Lots of brochures, travel advice and local meal recommendations and a very artsy abode, which is my style. New mattress, love, love the rain shower and close enough to the cbd but quiet enough to be cosy. Just beware the courtyard can be loud on a Friday night if occupants of other apartments throw a party, but otherwise very peaceful. Big fan of the little Bose system, so much so I'm looking at one for my place when I get home! And being eco friendly I liked the fact all the products in the bathroom and laundry are environmentally friendly. Close to vic Markets and pretty much anywhere you need to go really. And, no cleaning fee is a bonus. Cant comment on the pool and spa as I didn't get time to visit, but looked lovely.

Response from Daria:
It was a pleasure hosting you and your sister Ginny and I was mortified to hear of the party in the building! The (new) tenants received a warning from the building management committee and a breach notice from the real estate agent. First and last time!

Daria is one of the original Airbnb types, really opening up her home to travelers which is great. Everything about her procedure is good old school (not that she is old!) and provides a very pleasant experience. The property is ideally placed close to the city and is as it displays on the site. Plenty of Internet and television and all equipment and appliances one needs while travelling. Daria really cares that you enjoy her home so do everyone a favour and stay with her when in the great city of Melbourne.
