Our home is only 3 miles from hipster downtown Olympia and puget sound, but in a semi-rural area. Area attractions include a neighboring U-pick blueberry farm in season. There is a small neighborhood park within walking distance and several nearby larger city parks with nice hiking trails. A local bus line is available a half mile from our home.
Oly is located within 2 hours of Rainier and Olympic National Parks and the Pacific coast.Hosts Paul and Sara are engaged in the local Olympia community and can help direct you to activities, arts, and outdoor opportunities. We love to cook and make our own wine and ale among other items.
We have med/small Dog and a Cat, although they do not have regular access to the guest room.
Also, the dog although harmless does tend to greet newcomers wtih some wary barking so this may be a factor if you are not an animal lover.

Paul and Sara and Vinnie (their dog) make us feel right at home. The description of their home was just as they said - great older artistic home with beautiful green acreage and garden. Great outdoor spaces for sitting and eating. Really close to downtown. Vinnie got along well with our dog. The room we stayed in was huge and the bed was really comfortable. We had plenty of privacy during our week stay as well as some really great social time with Paul and Sara.
We had a wonderful time! Paul took us in as the last minute contact out of the kindness of his heart. The house and room were so comfortable and the back yard was amazing. Grape vines, sculptures, chickens, gardens. The great part was our dogs got along! Thank you Paul!
Wow, this place is fun and quirky! If you like artful spaces, you will be endlessly charmed by the many, many playful details and art projects that are everywhere on this property. The room is quite large and contains a pool table if that's your thing. Bay windows across one whole wall let in lots of light. The neighborhood truly feels like the country but is close to lots of amenities on the east side of Olympia. I didn't have a chance to chat with Paul too much, but he was very accommodating to all my needs.
Paul was an awesome host. He was polite without invading privacy, and the space was quirky and fun! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here.
Paul and Sara welcomed us with open arms and even though we arrived latter in the evening they took the time to chat with us before retiring. They are very whimsically creative and this is very evident in their home. Ask about the Parade for the Species! We wish we had had more time to spend with them to hear more stories about the interesting things in their home.
Had a wonderful stay at the Friendly Grove artful farmhouse. Paul and Sara were welcoming hosts and made us feel right at home. The room was spacious and beautifully decorated. So much fun to stay in. Would recommend this spot to anyone looking for a getaway just a few minutes from downtown Olympia.
Paul and Sara were great and gracious hosts! Would absolutely stay there again. They offered a walk-through of the house right off the bat, and suggested local places where we could eat. They have a very eclectic, and visually exciting home, both inside and out. The room for rent is super spacious, the bed quite comfy, and it includes a pool table! Very scenic, quiet neighborhood, only a ten minute drive from downtown Olympia. All in all, a great bargain and a great experience. Thanks again Paul & Sara!
