We have lived in our beautiful Creole cottage since 1996. It's full of character and historic charm, it truly represents old New Orleans architecture and style. Step back in time but with all the conveniences of today.

The Space

Come and enjoy your stay at our 1830's Creole cottage, Montegut Manor, located just down the river from the French Quarter in the historic, trendy Bywater. The French Quarter is a mere mile away, a quick cab or bike ride or a 15 minute walk. If you want to just stay and enjoy the neighborhood we are a just a walk away from such great restaurants as Maurepas Foods, Jim's, Suis Generis, and Elizabeth's and just a mile from some cool bars like Bj's and Vaughan's Lounge and even closer to Mimi's and Love Lost Lounge.

Our upper floor apartment has a private entrance and plenty of on-street parking. The apartment sleeps 4-- 1 bedroom with a real double bed and a den with a fold open double bed couch.

The bedroom is off of the large, open kitchen/living area. This place is not "shotgun style" so everyone has their privacy. High ceilings, lots of windows, a small balcony, French doors, a claw foot tub, new kitchen completely furnished for cooking with halogen stove tops, refrigerator, microwave and coffee maker.

All with a complimentary bottle of wine to celebrate your stay in New Orleans...

My sister and I reside downstairs. We are native New Orleanians who have lived in this house since 1996 so we know the neighborhood as well as the city. We have a mask studio downstairs, New Orleans Masks, so check out our web page: (website hidden)

Thanks for checking out our home,
Laura Guccione

Guest Access

Guests have their own entrance to the property. A gated alley leading to the door which takes them to a gorgeous staircase to the second floor apartment.

Interaction with Guests

We are always available via text/phone to answer any questions or tend to any needs of our guests. However, if solitude is your style we will respect your privacy.

The Neighborhood

Our neighborhood, the Bywater, is one of the most popular areas of New Orleans. Located on the bend of the Mississippi River, this funky part of town is convenient to all the happenings downtown, Frenchmen Street, the French Quarter, most music festivals, as well as, a growing hip culture of trendy restaurants, shops and bars.

Getting around

On street parking is available for those who drive/rent a car. There are public buses just a block away and we are walking/biking distance to most downtown locations. We are about one mile to the French Quarter.

Other Things to Note

The apartment is on the second floor.

  • This house was a fantastic place to stay for a weekend getaway with girlfriends. It is conveniently located in an artsy and burgeoning side of time -- close enough to tourist attractions, but far enough away to get a real flavor for New Orleans. I was sad to leave and would stay there again in a second. Laura was a great host, very responsive and informative, and left great tips on where to go to have a drink or a meal.

  • Laura was a very gracious host, and the apartment was a great place to hang out, play cards, and share meals. The Bywater is also a wonderful walking neighborhood with lots of local color, about a 30-minute walk from the French Quarter. It was hot outdoors in June, but the apartment stayed a refreshing temperature that we appreciated when we returned from our walkabouts.

  • I took my wife and two kids to New Orleans. Rather than go the typical hotel route, I wanted to give airbnb another go. Consistent with the reviews, Laura was a great host. She provided some helpful information on local eateries, etc. that we took advantage of as well. Overall, we had a very enjoyable experience and my daughter in particular really enjoyed the decorations and masks that adorned the walls in the room.

  • Great little spot in quiet neighborhood of marginy/bywater. Nice balcony for sunset watching. Great kitchen and living room: open & spacious. Just chill!

  • We just spent 3 wonderful nights at this great place in New Orleans. The apartment is adorable, the bed comfy and the couch bed was also very comfortable for our daughter, The neighborhood is funky and up and coming with a lot of young people moving in. It was a 20 minute walk to Frenchman Street. The mask art of the owner is displayed in the apartment and we were greeted with wine. I would stay here again in a minute. Thank you Laura.

    Response from Laura:

So glad you and your family enjoyed your stay and I wish I could have met y'all.

I usually tell people to take a cab after dark. I don't even walk too far after sun down. I guess it's one of the annoying things about living in the city.

  • Laura's place was exactly what my girlfriend and I were looking for in order to immerse ourselves into the unique and rich culture of New Orleans during our stay. Her place (along with the surrounding neighborhood) are original, authentic, full of character and abound in New Orleans charm. Don't let any of the pictures fool you, the place is great (charming, comfortable and offering all modern amenities).

The neighborhood is much the same, aesthetically, while also seemingly safe and conveniently located near the French Quarter (approx a mile). We took public transportation the entire time (several bus stops located throughout the neighborhood) but you could probably walk if so inclined (although I wouldn't suggest walking at night).

Additionally, there are several great restaurants, bars and cafes within a few blocks radius of her place. I think I could of stayed in the neighborhood for the entire trip and still had an unbelievable time.

We didn't get the opportunity to meet Laura but we were greeted by a complimentary bottle of wine - which was much appreciated!

Don't hesitate to stay here. It'll definitely add a nice dimension to your trip.

  • The Montegut Manor is without question one of the most unique and beautiful places I've ever stayed in. My roommates and I had an amazing time staying here, and we've been recommending the place to our friends since we returned home. We can't stop talking about it! The place is adorable, spacious and quiet. The walls are covered in gorgeous artwork, the bookcase is full of fun reads and the balcony overlooking the street is perfect for enjoying a cup of coffee in the morning or a nightcap in the evening. The kitchen and bathroom were packed with amenities. The hosts left us snacks, coffee, a bottle of wine and awesome recommendations of nearby attractions. The Manor is conveniently located near many restaurants and bars, and is in walking distance of just about every cool spot in New Orleans. The neighborhood is safe and friendly. Again, I highly recommend the Montegut Manor. My roommates and I had no problems with the place or our hosts during our stay, and we all hope to book the Manor again when we visit New Orleans in the future!
