Lovely home and garden in the thriving Alberta Arts District.
This home is warm and tastefully decorated with lots of windows to let in the sunlight and fireplace to keep you warm and cozy. The house has wood floors, high ceilings throughout, and a (soon-to-be) newly remodeled kitchen with an island for friends and family to gather around. The front porch has a wicker loveseat and chairs and a long wooden bench, ideal for a little time outside. There is a hammock under the shade of the dogwood in the summer months.
The house sleeps 5 people in beds. The upstairs bedroom suite has a Queen sized bed and sitting area. On the main floor are the second and third bedrooms, one with a double bed and the other with a twin. The full bath is also on this floor. There is spare bedding for the couch if needed in addition to the beds.
The newly remodeled kitchen is spacious and modern with gas stove and all the cookware you'll need to prepare any meal. There are loads of dishes and silverware too. There is an eat-in nook as well as an island in addition to the dining room table for 6. Washer and Dryer are in the basement.
Blanca and Spooky (two cats) are common company and all they ask for is some petting and feeding. They can come and go as they please so you don't have to worry about them at all. Spooky live outside and Blanca goes in and out.
Walk to cafes, restaurants, shops, groceries, theaters and the historic Irvington and Mississippi neighborhoods. Sample the delicious Portland food culture from vegan to omnivorous delights… and some of the best pie in the region! Walk to a movie at the McMennamin's Kennedy School or catch some live music at the Alberta Street Pub or Alberta Rose Theater. If you're lucky enough to be here early Spring to late Fall and it's the last Thursday of the month, our neighborhood holds "Last Thursday" - a free wheeling street festival featuring musicians, singers, dancers, theatre, crafts, art, food and drink, stilt walkers, marching bands and circus performance; it may also feature mud wrestling, free advice booths, and free lavender - you never know what you're going to find, but you'll always have fun!

There are a lot of public transportation options: We are on several major bus lines and one block from a designated biking boulevard. By car we are 10 minutes from the airport, Lloyd Center Mall, Convention Center and Light Rail and less than 15 minutes to downtown Portland.
We have WiFi and bicycles you are welcome to use (as long as you keep them locked up).
I live in the house except when it is leased out as a full home; when it's reserved as a full home I live down the street with friends. I'm nearby so if you need anything, you can let me know and I'll do my best to accommodate you.
I own a vintage home and gift shop in the Pearl district called Porch Light. If you're in the neighborhood stop by and say hello.
I look forward to having you stay at the house.
I ask that smoking happens on the back patio or front porch, but not indoors. Thank you!

I stayed in this charmingly decorated house for 2 nights, and had a wonderful stay. It was perfect for a girl's weekend in Portland--just 2 blocks from Alberta Street with lovely shops and restaurants. Keiran let us pick tomatoes and basil from the backyard garden, and her indoor kitty made the place feel even more homey. I highly recommend.
Our family of 5 spent 5 nights at Keiran's. The house is great. The kitchen is amazing! Beautiful garden and walking distance to great restaurants. As advertised the house does come with two cats and all that entails (fur balls, odor...) Overall it was a great home and we made some great memories!
Excellent experience. I have a toddler, so when reading reviews it is important to me to see if a place is kid-friendly. Keiran's place was definitely great for us. There's a twin bed in the smaller bedroom, which is perfect for a small child (mattress could even be moved to the floor if the child isn't used to a full-height bed). The cats are very sweet and gentle. The chairs in the kitchen worked for my two-year old even without a booster. For bath time, we sat our toddler on a towel in the clawfoot tub to prevent her from slipping, which worked well. Washer/dryer were a plus, as we didn't have to pack a lot of clothes. The house is decorated with a lot of wonderful antique knickknacks which could be very tempting for a young child to grab, but we didn't spend much time in the house other than breakfast and sleeping, so it wasn't a problem for us. (We also brought a lot of stuff for her to do, and spent time in the backyard when we were home.) As other reviews have mentioned, the house is very homey and comfortable, while at the same time being clean and beautiful. A short walk to Alberta Street shops and restaurants (even with a toddler in tow). We had thought about staying in a downtown hotel and I'm SO glad we went this route instead. Definitely an authentic Portland experience! We didn't get a chance to meet Keiran, but she was very responsive and helpful by email/text.
This is a lovely home which reflects the flavor of the artsy side of Portland. It is a great place to stay in the Alberta neighborhood, close to funky stores and shops. I would recommend this house to cat lovers as the cats need feeding and Bianca, the house cat, is very friendly and likes attention. I would not recommend this house to seniors as the upstairs bedroom has very steep stairs and the claw tub is beautiful but a challenge to use unless you are very agile.
Only pleasantries and pluses can describe our host, her charming, comfortable home, and her clear, warm and helpful communications. We stayed eight nights and our son with his wife and 4-yr-old daughter stayed three. All had enough space for privacy--and for hanging out together. Breakfasts in the sunny room off the kitchen felt homey, and enjoying a fire while watching a movie was delightful--a treat no hotel could offer. We especially appreciated having a fully equipped kitchen with new appliances and lots of dishes. Location is superb: easy walking distance to Alberta Street shops and eateries, and short drive to New Seasons grocery. As a dealer in antiques, Ms. Best's furniture and decor charmed us, and everyone enjoyed her many interesting books, especially the photography books. All in all, we had a wonderful experience.
We loved this house. It is so charming and has so much character. It felt very Portland. Keiran has done a fabulous job curating and decorating the house. It was clean and well appointed. Keiran even left us some breakfast fixings along with coffee and tea. The neighborhood is awesome with lots of cute restaurants, cafes, and shops within walking distance. I would highly recommend this house to others.
Lovely old woodframe house, full of vintage stuff and very sweet cats. Comfy bed, satellite TV, french press coffee.
This's one of those rentals in the course of which you wind up taking pictures of the things that she has that you want to buy. :) In my case I went straight home and ordered her tea kettle.
Didn't meet Keiran but had many interactions via text... she was quite helpful... clued me in to the best delivery pizza etc (HOt Lips, btw).
The house is two blocks from Pine State Biscuits, so I gained five pounds while staying there! :) but otherwise a perfect rental.
We had a wonderful time staying at Keiran's home. The house was beautiful yet homey. It was as clean, or cleaner, than any hotel I've stayed in yet still felt as comfortable as staying at a friend's home. The bright natural lit kitchen, even in Portland rain, was perfect for morning coffee, that she kindly provided for us during our stay. She was attentive and available to answer any questions. The location is great, walking distance to coffee, breakfast spots, boutiques, restaurants and bars. I'll recommend this home and Keiran to all my friends and family who visit Portland, and hope to be back soon myself.
