A nice, quiet, spacious and affordable room with a shared bathroom with movies, shopping and dining options within walking distance. Also just upgraded to AT&T Gigapower Internet which is the fastest in Austin.
We tried out airbnb when we moved to Austin recently and found it to be an awesome experience. So we wanted to open up our new house to get to know people from other parts of the world. Our house is upgraded with engineered hard wood floors most of downstairs, tile in the kitchen and bathrooms and also lush carpeting in the bedrooms and upstairs. Also feel free to use our kitchen with granite countertops, gas and stainless steel appliances. We also have a pair of energy efficient front load washer and dryer for your needs.
If Austin doesn't keep you busy throughout the day, then you can unwind at home with my PS3, XBox360 with Kinect, high speed wifi, extended cable with 300+ channels (HBO, Cinemax, Showtime, Encore) and our home theater. You can also connect your laptop to use our 24" LCD monitor in the nook if you prefer an additional workspace. That's why you definitely won't be bored here staying here. :)
We have a few rooms available in our house. This room is the one with the boat bed with 2 single mattresses. It has a bathroom next to it which is shared with another bedroom. This room is located upstairs. It also is big enough to have a table, office chair and a lamp for you to do your work. We have also put in a remote controlled ceiling fan to make sure that your stay is as perfect as possible. We are kids friendly and we also have a chocolate Labrador retriever.
Even though we might be strangers at first but we hope to become friends at the end of your stay. To see airbnb from our perspectives, you can check out our blog about our airbnb adventure in the social network f-b and search for "Cheah Welcome" or (f-b)/cheah.welcome
Thanks for reading this far. Let us know before you make a booking or if you intend to book many months in advance because we usually do not want to decline your reservation or cancel it in the last minute. We pride ourselves for 0 cancellations on any confirmed reservation so far because we know it would definitely jeopardize your Austin trip since you would have to scramble for other accommodations. Please feel free to contact us if you have any further questions. :).

Our house is in a brand new middle class subdivision and located just 5-10 mins walk to Southpark Meadows shopping center where you can find Target, Sams Club, Walmart, Best Buy, numerous dining options as well as a Cinemark cinema. It's also 10 minutes to South Congress, 15 minutes to the airport and 10-15 minutes to Austin Downtown. The infamous Austin traffic jam is not a big problem due to many access roads to and from downtown and this might add 5-10 more minutes to your journey depending on rush hour on weekdays. Weekends are a breeze.
For those without cars, Rapid bus 801 with wifi and leaves every 15 minutes will get you to downtown within 30 mins for $1.50 one way. Bus 10 also gets you to the Greyhound bus station within 1 hour for $1.00. To get to the airport, you will take either bus 801/10 to downtown and then bus 100 to the airport (total cost ~$3). Uber to/from the airport cost around $20-30 per trip.
Other Things to Note
You can park in the driveway and also on the curb. We also have 2 other rooms available if this room is not what you look for. They could also be occupied so there could be other guests in the house.
We usually don't wear shoes in the house for cleanliness. Also we are non smoking household so we ask to go for a walk if they want to smoke. We also people to please respect one another as well as clean up after yourselves when using the bathrooms, entertainment room, and kitchen so that everyone has a clean bathroom, entertainment room, and kitchen to use and we want you to feel at home!
Just awesome. I liked it. Cool people and the best marriage potrait they have hanging.
Staying with Ernest and Lila was just what I needed! After weeks of traveling, it was really nice to have some down time in a quiet neighborhood. The room was spacious and clean, which I appreciated. I enjoyed watching movies, reading, and catching up on some work, and of course meeting their lovely family!
Ernest and Lila were friendly and kind hosts, and their little boy is adorable. The spacious bedroom has a fun nautical theme and offers quiet/privacy/a nice desk chair for work should you need it.
What a cute family! Lila, Ernest and Millard are just wonderful. Their son is the happiest baby I have ever seen! Oh an not to forget their really nice and friendly dog Max.
My request was last minute over the holidays but Ernest and Lila accepted me although they had just had family stay over and their own travel plans coming up. And they stayed totally calm managing all :)
They make you immediately feel welcome and at home, are so relaxed. We had some nice chats and I even got invited for dinner with their friends.
The room is great - it took me a while to realize that my bed was boat shaped :) and that the entire tasteful decor of the room was in a maritime theme! I slept so well, it's a very quiet neighborhood.
The house is huge and spacious, very modern and it felt really pleasant.
A big shopping complex is just a few mins away. And famous S 1st street with cool cafes and restaurants is easy to reach. I just hopped into my car and was there and in the city in no time.
I'm so glad they accepted me, it really made my Austin stay much more special. Thanks Lila, Ernest, cutie Millard, and Max!
hi ernest & lila, I had a great time with you at your place. I had to visit my mom who lives so close, it worked out great. I am a runner and this area was a dream for me. I got around and came and went and they were there for a chat or help when I needed it. (thanks again ernest for the only ride I really needed.)
I love the big desk in the room, the clean and spacish room was just what I needed. and the price was the best. I stayed for 2 weeks, and would come again soon.
ps. the baby, miilard (sp?), is the best baby, he always was happy to see me, and I think he is the happiest, quietist baby, probably because he's got calm, easy-going parents. see y'all soon
This place is amazing. All its glowing reviews well deserved. The bedroom and common areas are spacious and comfortable. You can tell that Ernest and Lila work hard to make the guest's experience the best possible. All the perks - video projector, premium cable, iPhone - raise the bar high. And the low rates make it unbeatable.
Wonderful stay! Thank you for your awesome pumpkin cookies!

We were new to Austin 2 years ago and tried Airbnb for the first time when we moved here then. It has been a wonderful opportunity to make new friends and we decided to host fellow travellers and those who are making Austin their new home. We love to travel and we've been to many countries. We can also be considered foodies because we really enjoy trying new and different types of cuisine. Ernest loves sports and is a tech geek whereas Lila is more of a homebody and loves to bake and cook. We have also recently became proud parents of a beautiful boy.
We had stopped being Airbnb hosts after having our baby but the draw of meeting guests from all over the world was too hard to resist. We have hosted guests from England, France, Germany, Spain, Switzerland, Holland, Poland, Malaysia, Indonesia, China, South Korea, Japan, Philippines, India, Bangladesh, Thailand, New Zealand, Brazil, Mexico, Chile, Syria, Palestine, Tanzania, Russia, Australia, Ireland, Nepal, Peru and of course the many states of the USA. There's also young, old, married, kids, moving to Austin, Christians, Muslims, Mormons, Hindus, Buddhists, Jews, grandparents, moms, dads, LGBT and many more. What a wonderful world we live in! If you are not in this list, then there's always a first and we embrace diversity. Hopefully you will enjoy our company as we embark on this adventure together. Thank you also for helping us achieve the SuperHost status.
