We tried out airbnb when we moved to Austin recently and found it to be an awesome experience. So we wanted to open up our new house to get to know people from other parts of the world. Our house is upgraded with engineered hard wood floors most of downstairs, tile in the kitchen and bathrooms and also lush carpeting in the bedrooms and upstairs. Also feel free to use our kitchen with granite countertops, gas and stainless steel appliances. We also have a pair of energy efficient front load washer and dryer for your needs.
If Austin doesn't keep you busy throughout the day, then you can unwind at home with my PS3, XBox360 with Kinect, high speed wifi, extended cable with 300+ channels (HBO, Cinemax, Showtime, Encore) and our home theater. You can also connect your laptop to use our 24" LCD monitor in the nook if you prefer an additional workspace. That's why you definitely won't be bored here staying here. :)
We have a few rooms available in our house. This room is the one with the boat bed with 2 single mattresses. It has a bathroom next to it which is shared with another bedroom. This room is located upstairs. It also is big enough to have a table, office chair and a lamp for you to do your work. We have also put in a remote controlled ceiling fan to make sure that your stay is as perfect as possible. We are kids friendly and we also have a chocolate Labrador retriever.
Even though we might be strangers at first but we hope to become friends at the end of your stay. To see airbnb from our perspectives, you can check out our blog about our airbnb adventure in the social network f-b and search for "Cheah Welcome" or (f-b)/cheah.welcome
Thanks for reading this far. Let us know before you make a booking or if you intend to book many months in advance because we usually do not want to decline your reservation or cancel it in the last minute. We pride ourselves for 0 cancellations on any confirmed reservation so far because we know it would definitely jeopardize your Austin trip since you would have to scramble for other accommodations. Please feel free to contact us if you have any further questions. :).
You will have a 5 star experience for the price:

Our house is in a brand new middle class subdivision and located just 5-10 mins walk to Southpark Meadows shopping center where you can find Target, Sams Club, Walmart, Best Buy, numerous dining options as well as a Cinemark cinema. It's also 10 minutes to South Congress, 15 minutes to the airport and 10-15 minutes to Austin Downtown. The infamous Austin traffic jam is not a big problem due to many access roads to and from downtown and this might add 5-10 more minutes to your journey depending on rush hour on weekdays. Weekends are a breeze.
For those without cars, Rapid bus 801 with wifi and leaves every 15 minutes will get you to downtown within 30 mins for $1.50 one way. Bus 10 also gets you to the Greyhound bus station within 1 hour for $1.00. To get to the airport, you will take either bus 801/10 to downtown and then bus 100 to the airport (total cost ~$3).
Just to let everyone know we will be stopping airbnb in mid April due to our baby's arrival in May.
I highly recommend looking to Ernest and Lila for a place to stay on your next trip to Austin. They were both extremely nice, have a beautiful home, and make sure you have everything you need. Originally I was looking for a place to spend the night before making a long drive back home the next morning. My expectations were blown away when I arrived. There was more than enough space for me and the bed was super comfortable. Ernest and I had a nice conversation. Staying here was a wonderful experience that no hotel could ever replicate and I would stay here again with no hesitation if I were not moving to Austin myself. Thank you Ernest and Lila for letting me stay on short notice and I wish you two the best!
Hi everyone, I just have to say that the photo in your left doesn't decribes all that things that you win when you rent a room in Ernest and Lila's house. For a afordable price you get more than just a place to stay, but you make real friends that will do all they can to make your trip for Austin an experience that you will never forget. Thanks Ernest, Lila, Spencer, Lila's family and Max for the wonderfull time in the Sxsw.
Thanks Cesar for your beautiful Sambalicious review. We really enjoyed hosting you during SXSW because you are so easy to get along with and we have become f-b friends. Also enjoyed hanging out with you and Spencer. Even Lila's family who just moved in with us embraced you and thanks for giving such good compliments. We loved the Brazilian tshirt and note you left for us. Max said "Woof! Woof!". Keep in touch!
Ernest and Lila are super friendly and nice and the room available was terrific. Super big room (they have a huge brand new house), very clean, wifi available and parking too. They are also located very close to the highway to get into the city center and conveniences. Terrific stay for the price. I would definitely stay there again.
I had a wonderful stay, it was so comfortable it was like being in my home, they were helpful with information about getting around the city. It was nice to talk about my day in the evening but also be given privacy when needed. I would encourage anyone to stay with Ernest & Lila.
This was my first airb&b experience and wow what a great experience! Ernest and Lila are absolutely wonderful hosts and their home is gorgeous and immaculate. My only regret is that I didn't have more free time to spend hanging out with them as they are friendly and fun and totally willing to show their guests around Austin. It felt like visiting old friends and they were just as happy to leave me be to my privacy or hang out and chat with me and offer me some of Lila's homemade pie. Just top-notch folks and accommodation! Oh and their dog Max is super sweet too:)
It was the first time we used Airbnb and we had a nice stay. Ernest and Lila were friendly. It was clean and the bed was comfortable. Also we used their laudry room what was really nice .
This place was great.
I stayed in the room with a ship-shaped bed. It's spacious, well-decorated, spotlessly clean and with quite big walk in closet. The room was also equipped with a big desk and a comfortable chair. The shared area (living room) was amazing - huge projector with cable tv, big screen, dvd player (a lot of DVDs too) and an X-Box. Kitchen is equipped with anything you need. The hosts were super friendly, flexible and welcoming, also extremely helpful (thanks for the ride!).
But the best thing about this place was the possibility of meeting other people from all over the world, and sharing traditional dishes from guests' countries. I was lucky enough to be a part of Polish-Korean-Spanish-American dinner.
Cannot recommend enough.
Super clean house, super huge house, super good people, super nice dog, Couldn't ask for anything better and they let me stay till early evening the day I was supposed to leave. I would stay with them again in a heartbeat.
