About this listing
Amazingly sunny apartment on the last floor of a 5-floor building in central Athens. The apartment is facing south-west and has an unobstructed view all around. Yes, you can see the Parthenon from the huge balcony while you are having your coffee. Quite spacious for a one-bedroom with a fully equipped kitchen - recently renovated - the apartment is a clean and friendly space to spent your time alone or with your friends or family. The building is located on a footway between Metaxourgeio and Keramikos, 3 minutes from Metaxourgeio underground station. At this price you must be already a bit suspicious! So what is the catch? Its not the cleanest or safest area in the world. It is sort of an unofficial red-light-district/china-town. Many people consider this the most up-coming area in Athens but given the current economic situation in Greece, upcoming is a 'relative' term. If you are the adventurous type, you will discover the hidden coffee shops where local actors and musicians hung out and you may be surprised by the low prices of these places. The area is full of theatres and alternative galleries-studios - not always visible to the naked eye. Walking to Monastiraki from here is a matter of 12 minutes and the commercial centre is within 15 minutes as well. Gazi, which is the main nightlife centre is within 10 minutes walking, but if you are coming back late, its safer to take a taxi. The building has a locking entrance and we have never had any safety issues with the apartment. In our 4 years of leaving here, we actually didn't have any problems with the neighbourhood except having our car broken into a couple of times. By the way, there is plenty of street-parking available around and a very reasonably priced gated parking about a minute away. Clean sheets are provided for the double bed in the bedroom and for the bed-sofa in the living room on request. Last but not least, the bathroom. It takes 10 minutes for the water to become hot for a luxurious bath and there is a laundry machine that you can use. You will find clean towels and everything but don't hesitate to ask for more. Please DO NOT throw any kind of paper in the toilet. It has a history of blocking quite easily.
If you are not off-put by the area that is not what one calls upscale, we are sure you will enjoy absolutely everything about the apartment.
Other Things to Note
From the end of December 2014 also available a Wi-Fi internet connection!
Do not throw anything (including toilet paper) in the toilet. It will cause a blockage that may upset your stay.
An amazing apartment! An amazing patio with an amazing view! Very clean comfortable and a delight to come home to after a hot day in Athens. As everybody else has mentioned, it is in a dodgy area but I never felt ill at ease in the street. Amused if anything.. An Asian mini mart across the road and a Greek one of the other corner.. Walking distance ( for me ) to Acropolis and Ominia and the 'gay' area is close by for those interested... Definitely come home by taxi at night.. Loved every minute! An amazing old style Greek radio station was tuned into the stereo and this provided the most beautiful soundtrack to the ever changing street and patio views.. A thousand stories .. Day and night! Extended my stay and will return. Highly recommended for the alternative traveller type.
Sofia was very kind and helpful. We had many travel issues and arrived much later than planned, but had no problems at Sofia's place. Her friends met us there and showed us around. Our bags were lost along the way and didn't arrive until the next day. Sofia was very helpful in arranging for the bag delivery since we couldn't use our phones. All in all, a great experience at Sofia's place. The location is a bit off the beaten path, but the place is large and the price was good. Thanks Sofia!
We had great time at Sofia's apartment, it is near the underground station but if you want you can reach the center, like monastiraki, in few minutes walking.
The area isn't one of the best in athens but we had no real problem coming back home in late night.
The apartment looks like the photos, it is huge, sunny, clean and it has an amazing view of the acropolis from the spacious balcony.
The check in and out are flexible, we arrived at 11 pm and in the Flat there was a sofia's friend waiting for us, she explained us everything about the flat so we had no problems.
So we had a very positive experience, if you're planning to visit athens ask Sofia for a great Flat!
I greatly enjoyed my stay in Sofia's apartment. It looks just like the photos and it was centrally located. It was so close to very good restaurants, stores, and the metro station! I stayed there by myself for the majority of my stay, and while the area isn't the best, I never had a single problem! Sofia was always available quickly to answer all my questions! I had a great time!
It was a wonderful experience staying at Sofias Penthouse flat. The flat is fully equipped, spacious and has a huge balcony with an awesome view to acropolis and the city skyline, plus you can take a nice sunbath in the balcony till late sunset. The price-offer-relation for this flat is absolutely great und unbeatable. In this areas there are some hidden read light etablissements (what Sofias mentioned in the flat’s description) but they are not really notable from outside, so it doesn't really bother, also I didn't feel unsafe there. The flat is very central, walking distance to Athens hot spots and Monastiraki (central place and Metro to the airport). The checkin – even I arrived late – was really nice with lots of explaining about the flat and the city. Overall a very recommendable stay (I give 5 stars), I would book it again when I come back to Athens.
Visit Sofia's apartment for a bohemian experience in a fresh, comfy, and indeed very sunny space, wonderfully hand-made-decorated by her and equipped with everything you will need for a prolonged weekend or more.
Although the neighborhood is not the most friendly, the flat's position will allow you to reach the best of Athens' offerings easily.
We had a great stay there in late April, while temperatures allow the best visiting and terrace-lounging experience!
