About this listing
Grand views and nature surround you in a setting on a Rain Forest mountain above Playa Ballena. The Two Master Suite design is ideal for couples or small families traveling together. Secluded and accessed by private road. Enjoy a private preserve.
In the Heart of Costa Ballena, above Playa Ballena and overlooking the rock formations of Parque Nacional Marino Ballena (Ballena National Marine Park) is the Eco-Residencial Community of Perla Ballena, where this home is located.
The design is Two Master Suites, which open to terraces above the pool. The Main Living Level with kitchen & dining, outside salon and a third bath adjacent to an area with a futon which converts to the third bedroom with bath for sleeping accommodations.
Wake up for coffee or tea on the outside salon area to see Toucans cruising past or maybe a Pizote (raccon type animal) stealing papaya from the trees below the pool, as you look out over the Pacific to the Osa Peninsula and Isla del Cano in the distance. January to April and July to October you may see Humback Whales breaching in the waters off Playa Ballena (Whale Beach) You are surrounded by primary rainforest where Howler Monkeys or White Face Monkeys may be encountered at any time.
A private and gated road keeps the Perla Ballena Community secure and peaceful. The Private Road is a good road, but please be aware it is a road through a Rain Forest mountain, we require that you have a 4WD vehicle, it is not critical for access but is more secure and comfortable for you and causes much less wear on our gravel surface. Trails in the Private Preserve areas lead you to a waterfall and cascades, or just to enjoy the tranquility and sounds of the forest.
Included with your vacation rental is the use of our BALLENA BEACH CLUB facility, two pools, showers, parking for visiting Playa Ballena with full Restaurant and Bar service at Restaurante Villa Leonor.
Interaction with Guests
As mentioned before, we provide the services and amenities of Ballena Beach Club, where a secure and calm access to Playa Ballena is yours to enjoy.
We also can provide assistance with tour bookings for activities of Zip Lines, River Rafting, Corcavado Park, Isla del Cano for snorkeling, Canyoning (repelling waterfalls), ATV Tours, Waterfalls and Nature Hikes or Walks.
We are in a unique part of the Costa Rica South Coast, known as Costa Ballena. Eco & Rural Tourism with Fine Food and services available throughout the area.
A rental car is needed to enjoy the different attractions and amenities of Costa Ballena. The house is up on the mountain, too far to walk down to the highway and public transport. It is also a private road through a rain forest mountain, so 4WD is required, not critical to traverse the road but more secure and comfortable for you and less wear for our gravel surface we maintain.
Respectful care of the home is all that is expected.
The host, Cliff, met us and welcomed us to the property. He personally guided us to the location and provided an informal tour of the property and amenities.
The home is as described in the listing; however, it was actually more impressive in person! The living space is larger than expected - two large bedrooms and a good size kitchen/living/dining room area. The veranda is also quite large.
This property is blessed with seclusion and is perfect for relaxing. It is liberating to be free from the internet, television, and if you are lucky, the telephone.
We truly enjoyed all the sounds of the forest, the animal visitors to the property, and the howl of the congos throughout the day. We even saw a baby colibrí.
Despite having to drive for 15-20 min from the main road, all the beaches and stores are very close. Even if the drive seems far, it's completely worth it to experience the amazing view!
We would enjoy the opportunity to spend more time at the property in the future.
Nachbarhäuser sieht man kaum.
We spent an amazing time in the beautiful mountain house. The view over the pacific is georgious and the entre house is very nice and well equiped. Especially our three children enjoyed the pool with fresh spring water. From the terrace we saw in the morning Tucans flying around and wie could hear the noise of the monkies.
Cliff is a very nice and helpful person. He organized for us a boattrip in the mangroves in Sierpe.
When you rent the House you also get access to Ballena Beach Club and so can really enjoy this beautiful beach.
Wie really can recommend the House.
Cliff's place is amazing, and the view is incredible. We woke up each morning with coffee and a swim in the freshest pool ever. Then we listened to the monkeys and watched as toucans flew about. Cliff was extremely accommodating and gave great suggestions for the area. The beach club beach was like nothing we had ever seen; it was beautiful. We spoke several times of returning and bringing our family!
The house is the ideal place for a vacation on the Pacific coast of Costa Rica. The secluded location higher up the mountain provides cooler air at night (we haven’t used a/c during our stay) and the amazing ocean views. The swimming pool comes very handily after a long day of exploration. Although 4WD is not strictly necessary, but it will make getting to the house much easier.
Cliff is a great host. He quickly responded to all questions and provided clear and easy to follow directions to the house. He knew the area perfectly and gave us many tips on what to see and where to go. Our only regret is that our vacation was too short and we did not an opportunity to eat at his restaurant.
Merci à Cliff pour son accueil
Nous avons passé un séjour formidable. La villa est parfaite, très spacieuse et très bien équipée. Le lieu est magnifique avec une vue à couper le souffle.
Cliff was a good host, he was able to set us up with whatever activities we were interested in. We went Zip-lining and went to nauyaca waterfalls. Both were great experiences that we would recommend. We were only in Uvita for 3 days which is just not enough time to enjoy everything. The house was much nicer than what I expected and the pool was perfect. This house is very private but there is someone that lives down the road so you aren't up there all on your own. There is a covered porch with views of the ocean, this is where we started and ended every day. Cliff has great chairs out there to sit back, relax and enjoy the view. We woke up every morning listening to the sounds of the jungle which was really neat. You do need 4 wheel drive to get up the mountain so make sure you rent a vehicle with 4 wheel drive. Cliff has a beach club which is only open on Sundays. Our first night we went to the grocery store and arrived back to the house in the dark (it gets dark about 5:30pm). We had no electricity! First night in the jungle with no electricity!! We were beyond nervous but found a flashlight and just waited thinking we wouldn't get power back for days. We got power back in just a couple hours to our relief we had power before we went to bed. We were able to take advantage of the beach club and the beach which we had to ourselves. This is an amazing value. You get a beautiful home with a private pool and at least for us, a private beach everyday to play in the waves. The beach is very clean and the waves are just perfect, not too big, not too small. When we come back we will bring our children and want to rent from Cliff. The house is big enough for 2 couples or a family of 5 or 6. We found this great restaurant called the Goat house which is right down the road from the house. The restaurant has nice, good prices and great food. We enjoyed our quick stay here in this house and the area of Uvita.
About the Host, Cliff
I have been in Ballena on the South Pacific Coast for 18 years, my wife, Ana is from the Ojochal & Tres Rios area just south of Ballena. The home offered is within a develpment I completed which is a true eco-residential community, with over 100 acres of primary forest & streams protected as a private preserve. Our business at Playa Ballena is Restaurante y Bar Villa Leonor at Ballena Beach Club which is a semi private beach facility to enjoy a comfortable day at the beach.
