Beautiful, really peaceful place and Patricia was great. Gave us a lovely breakfast and lots of advice about things to do in the local area. I LOVED Merida too, romantic pretty colonial town.
We stayed in the ground floor apartment - I just recommend one little thing to Patricia - a shower curtain ! Apart from that all was excellent, there's a pool and cats too. Thank you !
Fabulous place, fabulous host! We've been in Merida many times, but this time was the best, because "Casa Carmita" is the best. We will return, and also recommend this B&B to everyone who asks us about going to Merida.
We felt like at home in Casa Carmita, all thanks to Patricia, who is a very kind and considerate host, full of great advises and insights. This b&b is very quiet, ideally located walking distance to the center and close to Paseo de Montejo on the other side. There is a spa on site and even a secure parking opposite!
We stayed at Casa Carmita for a week during peak season. Patricia could not have been a better host. Our room was very clean and comfortable. We slept great!
The hotel is very well located, within walking distance of many points of interest. It's a wonderful property with a lovely garden, interesting books around, and a couple of very cute cats. There is a spa onsite, which I highly recommend. I had an excellent massage.
Patricia is an extremely kind and good natured person. She makes you feel right at home (like most Spaniards do!). The breakfast and coffee was delicious. I can't rave about this place enough.
I doubt there is another hotel in Mérida with a vibe this good. We wouldn't stay anywhere else!
Fantastico! Amazing. Patricia is incredible and works very hard to keep you comfortable and even solve problems that have nothing to do with her. Great bfasts too. A+
This was our first airbnb experience and I'd have to say it was great!
Patricia is an amazing host and ensured we had everything we needed and more during our stay with her. She was kind enough to stay up late to receive us as we arrived late in Merida, helped us with maps and directions across the city and gave us a much needed amazing Swedish massage at her spa. Also, it was really sweet of her to pack our breakfast and keep it ready early in the morning (5:30 am) on the day of our departure..
The only reason I did not give her 5 stars is because the water pressure through the shower head in the bathroom is almost nil - made is really hard to have a quick shower! Also, not that it bothered us much but the wifi connectivity is limited to her lobby area only!
The place is clean and for being in town, it was so peaceful and quiet. No dogs barking, no roosters crowing and no cars honking their horns!
Patricia was delightful. She helped in any way she could. We had secure parking, she had our clothes laundered and I was able to get a wonderful pedicure at her spa! She provided a wonderful breakfast in the morning and all the coffee we could drink. We were able to walk everywhere but taxis were available too.
She allowed our dog, Bentley to be here too! Thank you Patricia for a great stay at Casa Carmita!
From start to finish, our reservation at Casa Carmita was incredibly pleasant. Patricia really does everything in her power to made your stay at her residence enjoyable. Her work experience is in opening hotels around Spain and we immediately picked up on this before she shared details of her history based on the impeccable customer service she provided.
Patricia often replied in under 24 hours to emails. She confirmed our stay the evening before our arrival, requesting our arrival time and greeted us with the widest smile at exactly the time we arrived. She immediately shared a Yucatan Today and presented activities for the day, notifying us of a city-wide festival we were not aware of and recommending activities for the following week. She's incredibly knowledgeable about Merida, it's proximity to surrounding sites, and is enthusiastic to share the resources that convinced her to relocate from Spain.
The location of Casa Carmita could not be more perfect. Merida is extremely safe and Patricia's guest house is walking distance to every point of interest in the city. We walked around until 10pm, 12am, 2am without a problem. We never took a cab, besides to the airport on our last day. We even walked to the bus station for a day trip to Chichen Itza. The neighborhood is very charming and not too close to center city noise from events.
Breakfast is included with multiple selections. Patricia requested our preferences each morning, bringing tea or coffee, fruit, eggs, pancakes. We didn't dine out for breakfast for the entire week.
WIFI is included. It's most consistent and quite fast on the first floor. We worked a little while we were there and just brought our laptops to small desks downstairs.
There's a spa onsite and a gallery, in development.
The pool is very refreshing, on the colder side most days - perfect for warm Merida days - and has rails for exercising. Beach towels are provided upon request for use at the pool.
When my husband and I inquired about nearby laundry facilities, Patricia proposed an affordable pickup option that charged by weight. This was ideal to give us more time to enjoy the city.
Patricia took the liberty of setting us up in the upstairs bedroom as I am very allergic to cats and the location has two that roam the first floor grounds. This was very thoughtful. The stairs are a tight spiral. This wasn't a problem since we tend to pack on the light side. We shared that we would like to work a bit while in Merida and Patricia had a small desk brought to our room.
Shower water is lukewarm if you only turn on hot faucet. I believe this is common for Merida. Towels are replenished upon request and when the room is cleaned, every one to two days.
Keep in mind:
Bring benedryl if you have an extreme allergy to cats. Purchase citronella candles for the room.
We stayed at Patricia's only for one night and left early the next morning. She was kind enough to prepare a lunch for us to take on the bus. Great host and great place to stay, very close to the main square and cathedral, highly recommended!
We never intended to spend more than a couple of nights in Mérida we had a plan, you see, we knew what we were doing or so we thought. All it took was an informative breakfast with Patricia the following day for us to completely scrap our plans and go on a new, unexpected adventure. Patricia came up with a bunch of exciting recommendations we hadn't even considered. We ended up spending four days in Mérida and got to hang out with our delightful hostess in her charming bnb.
Apart from the rather attractive house, highlights for us were Patricia's warmth, kindness and friendliness, Priscilla's delicious breakfasts, the iguana supervised wellness centre and its central location.
We wish Patricia all the best with her venture and encourage everybody to stay at this house.
