About this listing
A luxury shared house on the famous Cabezo Beach with a terrace overlooking the beach or, for the windier days, there is also large back garden. You can walk barefoot to the beach across the road. 4m walk from town. Lovely house mates
Room with 1 large bed and private bathroom in an amazing house right infront of the famous Cabezo Windsurfing Beach. The living area and large kitchen is shared with 2 other people. There is ample storage for surfing equipment in a locked garage.
The room itself is clean, quiet and has its own bathroom.
If you need picking up from the airport this is also a possibility but TFS airport is only 5 minutes away and a taxi will be very cheap.
El Medano is a lovely town with amazing beaches, chilled out night life, great inexpensive restaurants and well away from the tourist areas. It is a haven for windsurfers and kite surfers but is also great for a "real" holiday, where you will get to see what Tenerife is really like away from Playa de las Americas.
I speak lots of different European languages, and you will be made most welcome.
You will be able to have breakfast overlooking the beach, and if it is too windy then the back terrace is perfect. You can store all surfing/biking equipment in the garage, which has direct access onto the beach.
Interaction with Guests
This is a very dynamic shared luxury house with fantastic housemates. We tend to be quite independent but often cook meals together and do the odd bbq or chilled party. You can become part of the house "community" if you want, and meet lots of great people in Medano, or you can keep to yourselves. Everything is cool by us. Really depends on the guests. If you are interested in getting to know people, we can do bbqs and jam sessions at home, but if you are looking for a quiet holiday we also respect that.
El Medano is a fantastic town with, in my opinion, the perfect blend between toursim and locals. The tourism ensures that there is always a lot to do (hiring out equipment, great bars and good restaurants) but with the local population ensuring that good price to quality ratios are kept. The beaches are some of the best in Tenerife.
3 bus stops in town, 5 minutes from the motorway where most busses pass through. You can get anywhere in the island.
At only 10 minutes from the south airport, it is very convenient there too.
Other Things to Note
This is the perfect house if you want to have a holiday where you become part of the culture of the place you are staying instead of viewing it from tourist eyes. It is not a hotel; this is a house where real people live and you will meet people if you want. If you want the real experience of Medano then this is the place for you. If you want the clinical perfection of a hotel, then perhaps not ;-)
Mutual respect for other housemates is the most important. Keeping comunal areas clean and tidy is expected. Dogs are allowed and smoking is allowed outside on either of the terraces.
My stay at this Beach House was absolutely fantastic, the hosts and atmosphere were so welcoming and friendly I can't wait to go back!
The location of this property is great, only 5 minutes walk from the centre of El Medano and right in front of the rocky and beautiful Cabezo beach. There are many restaurants, shops, bars, cafes and several supermarkets all within a short walking distance. The room itself was extremely spacious and comfortable plus I had my own bathroom, which was clean and in great condition.
As a windsurfer the location allows easy walking access to Cabezo beach (A spot for experienced windsurfers due to the large number of rocks) and the house has ample storage facilities. In this regard, South Bay (the harbour, which is more beginner/intermediate friendly due to it being sandy) was only a short walk with rentable storage facilities as well.
Jon and the other flatmates were welcoming and introduced me to their friends and local scene. I met many unforgettable people who I hope to keep in contact with and meet again in El Medano or other locations around the world! They were kind enough to take me around the island sightseeing if they were visiting an area, which was much appreciated as an individual traveller without a car.
True to the listings description if you want a great Canarian experience, to interact with the mellow local culture, meet many great characters and get your socks blown off (My most used sail was 4.5m in July) this Beach House is for you.
Repetiriamos!
Although we haven't met the host as Jon was on holiday, we enjoyed our stay very much in this friendly and welcoming household. It's a very lively house with interesting people sharing it. Would go back again!
Jon's flat is a very nice shared flat, perfectly located by the beach. His housemates are very welcoming and take the time to make you feel at home. If you're looking for something quiet than this isn't it, but if you're looking for a colourfull experience and nice people than look no further. Only remark: the shower needs pimping, the amount of hot water available is not quite enough for everyone.
Jon certainly is one of the best hosts we ever had on Airbnb! He really is a sociable and entertaining guy and went out of his way to help us in all regards. His house is beautiful and just in the perfect location at the Cabezo beachfront, still close to the town center. We enjoyed our stay to the fullest and hope to come back someday.
Awesome beach house. Perfect location. Great town and best host I ever had. We did not match at all but it was no problem and I had a great stay. Thank you Jon!
About the Host, Cabezo
I have been living in El Medano for a few years and I love the place. I enjoy travelling, reading, cooking, rockclimbing, biking, snowboarding (although this is not so easy in El Medano) and a I am finally learning to Kitesurf.
