Nestling in the heart of the picturesque village of Inistioge, The Pottery is a four bedroom house that sleeps up to 8. Formerly three cottages, which have been lovingly renovated into an exceptional and unique home, it forms an ideal base for families and friends to enjoy Inistioge and to discover the delights of the surrounding area.
Originally 3 artisan cottages which were transformed into a potter’s workshop, the Pottery is now a warm and welcoming family home. Elegantly situated in the centre of the village, the house is situated in a secluded private site off the main square. Off street parking leads to the peace and quiet of the carefully tended gardens, where one can sit overlooking tranquil views of the river Nore and surrounding countryside.
The Pottery has a warm, homely atmosphere; from the moment you step through the old stable doors, you enter an eclectic, old world ambience with all the conveniences of a modern home. The large family dining room, an invitation to many a long, languid meal and the rear patio for al fresco dining can make for an unforgettable experience. The accommodation offers four beautifully furnished and decorated bedrooms; 3 doubles (one ensuite with shower) and one twin, main bathroom; a modern kitchen with all mod cons (electric oven & hob, Stanley stove for special home-baking, fridge, utility room with all washing facilities and second fridge/freezer). A large comfortable living room with original fireplace seats up to ten on a variety of sofas and chairs.
Outside, the front yard provides a perfect setting for breakfast, capturing the morning light, and in the rear garden you will be transported to the Irish tropics! Unusual and exotic plants create a wonderful setting for evening barbeques and gatherings. A terraced garden to the side of the house over-looks the river Nore, where fishing and canoeing are worthwhile activities!
The village amenities include three local pubs, a well-stocked shop, a café and restaurant open year round, gift and antique shops.
If you are a keen fisherman or a novice, arrangements can be made with the local guide for fishing trips during the season along with canoeing adventures, so please do not hesitate to ask for more information on these activities.
Inistioge is a beautiful rural Irish village surrounded by woodland and scenic countryside, the perfect place to take a break and enjoy the natural world of Woodstock Gardens, 5 minutes’ walk from the house. Escorted tours can be arranged locally of this beautiful historic estate as well as walks along the river. Located just 7km from Thomastown, 16km from Bennettsbridge and 25km from Kilkenny city, the Pottery is within easy reach of amenities such as restaurants, pubs, shopping, and transport, including train stations in both Thomastown and Kilkenny city.
The county also boasts outdoor activities such as golfing at the nearby Mount Juliet Hotel, scenic fishing spots along the Kings River and River Nore, and various other attractions (Kilkenny Castle, Black Abbey, Jerpoint Abbey and Dunmore Caves).
Access to the nearest beach at Duncannon is approximately 40 minutes’ drive.

We spent two nights at the Pottery on a girls holiday. Inistioge and the surrounding area became one of our favorite places during our journey through Ireland! The quaint village and close proximity to other sights make it a perfect location. Dave met us at check in to give us the house tour and explained heating and such. He is a character and had us laughing within minutes! We were pleasantly surprised with the basket of fruit, baked bread, butter and fresh eggs that Dave and Jadzia left for us also, everything was delicious. Once we were checked in, we walked across the street to have a pint of Guinness with Dave. It was my first and tasted amazing... they even wrote our names in the cream! The next day we toured Kilkenny and met up with Dave at their home in Kells to view their other rental "the cottage". It wasn't long before Dave brought out instruments and we were all part of an impromptu jam session. After that, Dave took us on a short walk to Kells Priory... an old monastic ruin, basically in their back yard. After which, we again joined Dave for a pint at the local pub and exchanged some wonderful stories. We parted ways a bit later, but will remain friends forever! The Pottery had more than enough room for our party of five. Dinner and tea in the evenings by a cosy fire are memories I will cherish forever. This location is not to be missed! Ironically, I was booked at the cottage first until we had another person join our trip. I didn't want to give up the Cottage because Jadzia and Dave were getting rave reviews as hosts! Luckily, I found that they had another rental that solved my problem. I can't tell you how happy my fellow travelers and I were with the accommodations, the atmosphere and the CRAIC! If you're looking for a real experience to tell everyone about...don't scroll any further! I loved everything about our trip to Ireland. But Jadzia and David turned a wonderful trip into a BRILLIANT one.
On arriving at the Pottery in Inistioge myself and my closest pals were greeted by Dave, who showed us around his amazing property. You are instantly drawn in by the "sceen" Dave and Jadzia have so artisically set. It is a beautiful house, with character literally everywhere you turned. I usually travel with provisions but here nothing was required, its literally a home away from home (if only home was as beautiful)..Myself and my girlfriends have been to some lovely spots from near and far but The Pottery has risen the bar... apart from the stunning house itself, the village is beautiful and the locals are all so friendly ..it has it all.. a definite destination if you want to relax, switch off and enjoy something really special..which nowadays is hard to find........... ps Go to O'Donnells for a pint ...
We stayed in the pottery as part of a group of 9 on a chilly weekend in January . Jadzia and Dave couldn't have been more welcoming and accommodating. We had everything we needed right down to hotwater bottles. The cottage is quirky and cosy and a wonderful place to spend a holiday. It was immaculately clean and right in the village with easy access to the pubs and shops and cafes. I have already recommended it to friends and would love to come back!
Although we dealt with Jadzia all the way via email and phone, her partner Dave met us at the cottage on a cold December afternoon. Dave had both open fires lit, spare fuel and the heating on the essentials like milk, tea and coffee ready for us which made our arrival very welcoming. The rooms are very comfortable and clean with plenty of linens and towels. The cottage itself is gorgeous with plenty of atmosphere, history and very easy to relax. The village square is a minute stroll with easy access to the historic Woodstock house and gardens. We would really love to get back over the spring or summer months. We wanted for nothing more except time. Thanks to you both.
Our host met us at the property, was very friendly and fun to talk to, brought us nummy bread and Irish butter, was very nice.
Just wanted to say the place is lovely. And the village is lovely. The host was great, full of local knowledge. The house is really comfortable and warm, helped by a fire set ready to go and all. There is loads to do in the area and that part of Ireland is beautiful.
There is a woodland walk just by the house that takes several hours to complete. And there is a fantastic cafe right in the village with the most amazing deserts. And a pub right across the road from the house. We just booked it for a weekend but a week or two would be lovely there. Highly recommended place to stay.
We felt very welcome and comfortable. The Pottery is as wonderful as it sounds, everything was as described.
We felt at home and relaxed.
