About this listing
Nestling in the heart of the picturesque village of Inistioge, The Pottery is a four bedroom house that sleeps up to 8. Formerly three cottages, which have been lovingly renovated into an exceptional and unique home, it forms an ideal base for families and friends to enjoy Inistioge and to discover the delights of the surrounding area.
Originally 3 artisan cottages which were transformed into a potter’s workshop, the Pottery is now a warm and welcoming family home. Elegantly situated in the centre of the village, the house is situated in a secluded private site off the main square. Off street parking leads to the peace and quiet of the carefully tended gardens, where one can sit overlooking tranquil views of the river Nore and surrounding countryside.
The Pottery has a warm, homely atmosphere; from the moment you step through the old stable doors, you enter an eclectic, old world ambience with all the conveniences of a modern home. The large family dining room, an invitation to many a long, languid meal and the rear patio for al fresco dining can make for an unforgettable experience. The accommodation offers four beautifully furnished and decorated bedrooms; 3 doubles (one ensuite with shower) and one twin, main bathroom; a modern kitchen with all mod cons (electric oven & hob, Stanley stove for special home-baking, fridge, utility room with all washing facilities and second fridge/freezer). A large comfortable living room with original fireplace seats up to ten on a variety of sofas and chairs.
Outside, the front yard provides a perfect setting for breakfast, capturing the morning light, and in the rear garden you will be transported to the Irish tropics! Unusual and exotic plants create a wonderful setting for evening barbeques and gatherings. A terraced garden to the side of the house over-looks the river Nore, where fishing and canoeing are worthwhile activities!
The village amenities include three local pubs, a well-stocked shop, a café and restaurant open year round, gift and antique shops.
If you are a keen fisherman or a novice, arrangements can be made with the local guide for fishing trips during the season along with canoeing adventures, so please do not hesitate to ask for more information on these activities.

Lovely cottage in a picture postcard rural village setting. Hosted four adults and six small kids for a couple of days, half that number for another ten days. All fine! Great communication from Jadzia and Dave, who were very welcoming and helpful.
The Pottery in Inistioge was the perfect beginning to our all-AirBnB European vacation. Dave met us at the beautiful cottage and very helpfully explained everything we needed to know. Fresh eggs, milk and Irish bread awaited us in the well-stocked kitchen. The house was charming, cozy and nicely appointed with everything we would need. Our 21 and 16 year old daughters instantly fell in love with this place and with Ireland - they wanted to stay longer. Lovely scenery and weather, peace and quiet, and friendly people everywhere we went in Kilkenny. Inistioge was storybook perfect: lovely square, good pubs, charming cafes. So happy we chose The Pottery!
Where do I start? We took a family trip to Ireland (6 of us total). After staying in Dublin for a few days, we could not have found a more wonderful place to enjoy the Irish countryside.
I'll start with Jadzia and her husband Dave. They were incredibly responsive and very flexible. We had to adjust our check-in time the day of and they were completely accommodating. Dave met us upon arrival and gave us a complete overview of the home and recommendations on how to best enjoy Inistioge, including how to properly pronounce it.
Moving on to the facilities, the Pottery was just perfect. From the exterior, you have a historic and quaint façade that fits the feel of the landscape around you. The inside is warm and cozy, but was plenty spacious for our group of 6. Sitting in the living room with the wood burning fire place going was perfect for evening conversations as we wound down our days. All of the appliances are modern and well maintained - we stayed in and cooked a pasta dinner with no trouble!
Moving to Inistioge itself, we could not have enjoyed it more. Driving up to the gardens at the top of the hill gives you one of the most amazing views you will ever see. The river Nore runs through a stone arch bridge, surrounded by luscious green grass and grazing sheep. It exceeded our already high expectations of how beautiful a country Ireland would be.
If you are looking to make a trip into the Irish countryside for a few days, I really can't imagine where else you could stay and enjoy yourself more than we did at the Pottery. We highly recommend it!
Our Inistioge, Ireland visit was wonderful. When we arrived at The Pottery Dave was there to greet us and show us the house. We loved it from the moment we stepped inside. The interior of this beautifully restored cottage met and even exceeded our expectations and so did the grounds with its beautiful flowers and shrubs. Dave and Jadzia made us feel very welcome and even left eggs from their chickens, delicious brown bread, apples and yummy Irish butter!
Dave mentioned that he would be playing music with a group in which he is a member, at Kyteler's Inn (established in 1324!) in Kilkenney that night. We decided to go and we were so glad we did! The group played traditional Irish music. Dave, by the way, has a terrific voice! The food, the beer, and especially the music, made for a fun and memorable evening!
Midweek Jadzia visited with us to make sure all was well and brought us homemade banana bread that we thoroughly enjoyed!
Jadzia and Dave are a wonderful couple and great hosts, who made us feel welcomed!
Inistioge is in a perfect location to explore the surrounding area. Our week seemed to pass by too quickly but we have many endearing memories to last for a long time.
Our host's Jadzia and Dave were simply brilliant. Even before we arrived, Jadzia had helped me book a taxi and recommend a lovely restaurant. Dave was there to give us a very friendly and warm welcome.
Our host was amazing. He was there to meet us and show us all the important features of the cottage as well as where to eat and get the best Guiness in town. The cottage is absolutely lovely and exceeded our expectations. Our family of 6 was very comfortable. The area amenities were perfect. The forest and river are situated nicely for an evening stroll or early morning hike. The beds were clean and comfortable and we were all thankful for the well supplied kitchen. We could not have asked for a more amazing stay.
The Pottery Cottage, Inistioge and our hosts, Jadzia and Dave were wonderful. A great experience in a small Irish village. The cottage is like stepping back in time. Jadzia and Dave took the time to make us feel so welcome. In fact, the village is full of interesting and friendly characters. A quick and easy drive to Kilkenny. A real highlight of our trip.
