A Colorful Room in Central Tucson

House - Private room · East 12th Street, Tucson, AZ 85711, United States

The Space

Coming for the Gem Show, or a snowbird escaping the cold? The "pink room" is fully furnished with desk and linen in an older house in central Tucson for women only.

The University of Arizona is just 15 minutes away with easy access to buses. Around the corner is a friendly WIFI Cafe, a Mexican Bistro, a Polish restaurant, American breakfast cafe, bakery, Mongolian Barbeque, a Tiki Bar, and of course a convenience store. Buses to downtown are half a block away, and beautiful Sabino Canyon is 20 minutes drive away. Shared bath, and a dining area as well as patio for additional dining (with an outdoor kitchen with barbeque as well!). Full kitchen in the house, wifi internet. Please smoke outside if you're a smoker. There are indoor cats (Lulu and Lucy), so if you have allergies or don't love cats this is not a home you would be comfortable in.

I have a big yard on a quiet street - but, this is central Tucson. There are neighbors dogs, occasional traffic. It's not pristine silence, just a quiet neighborhood.

I'm an artist with a 40 year career, and my work is to be found throughout my house. I'm very interested in sustainability and green technology, and I love to garden. I'm a vegetarian (although you don't need to be), and I enjoy meeting interesting people.

Tucson is a great place in the winter, and beautiful at any time of the year!

Interaction with Guests

I require a profile from guests, and will not rent to people who won't tell me something about themselves.

I live here, and guests are sharing my home, so friendliness and courtesy are very important to me, as well as respect for privacy.

  • Lauren was wonderful to stay with . I felt so at home there and she goes out her way to make you feel that way. Her cats are so adorable. It was nice and close to food places and Lauren even went out of her way to take me to a country and western club wish I always wanted to see. Thank you Lauren and I will see you again on my return flying out of Tucson. Debra

  • Five nights in Tuscon, in one of Lauren Raine's colorful and sunny rooms, was just what I needed coming from rainy Portland. I received a warm welcome from Lauren as well as her two stunning white cats Lulu and Lucy. Lauren's beautiful, transformative artwork graces every single wall of her house and made my stay even more special as a fellow artist. She took interest in my daily excursions and had a lot of good tips for me regarding exploration of the area. I hope to stay with Lauren again.

  • I can highly recommend Lauren's home for a delightful stay in Tucson! Being in midtown, her home is close to many parks, shopping areas, and a variety of restaurants. I was always happy to come back to Lauren's after busy days with my two granddaughters who live about 11 blocks away. Morning conversations over coffee were an added bonus, even with Lucy and Lulu vying for our attention. Thanks Lauren!

  • WONDERFUL. Bright , cheerful, clean, pretty rooms in the house. Easy place to find. Excellent gardens, kitchen was great. I will stay there again next time I am in Tucson. I loved it ! I like it that you can grill and cook outside with nice shade from the desert sun. Cute cats ! She was wonderful. It was easy to find good stores in her neighborhood. Close to the highway , Great neighborhood, you can't hear the city at night ! sweet ! I rested great with the sweet scent of lemon trees blooming all night ! WOW! I want to be there long term next time, like 30 days !

  • I had a fabulous time in Tucson at Lauren's house. The room was lovely – very cosy and quiet – and the location very handy. Lauren was a fantastic host who went the extra mile. She is a mine of information about things to do and places to go. In addition, she is a very talented artist so there are all sorts of interesting works around the house. I'm very much looking forward to a return visit!

I'm a professional artist specializing in masks and community arts. I'm 63, love conversation and creativity. I'm a vegetarian, concerned with the environment, and have traveled internationally. I had so many good experiences with B&B's in the British Isles and Europe, where it is very traditional for families to open their homes, that I decided to try it myself. I had the same good experiences when I travelled in Indonesia, and stayed at "home stays". Because there's a great wifi cafe around the corner, I no longer cook breakfast, but I do enjoy creating a bright, colorful, serene space for the women who come to visit, and am always happy to share what I know about Tucson and the Southwest. I love Arizona, especially its warm, sunny winters. Renovating the 1962 Airstream trailor in the back yard, and creating a patio for it, has been my latest "art project"..........I love making things old new and inviting.
