Our farmhouse is almost 200 years old. We are in a quiet spot yet nestled between Aberporth on the coast and Cardigan with all the amenities. A great location for walking the coastal path or visiting some of the best beaches in West Wales.
The house is on a quiet 8 acre small holding near the beautiful coastline of West Wales. 3 miles to Cardigan and about a 40 minute drive to the Ferry to Ireland at Fishguard. Cardigan has a Aldi, a Tesco, and Co-op supermarket A few miles to 6 beautiful sand beaches, two that are National Trust. Our local beach is Mwnt, listed as No. 1 in the Daily Mail's list in the Top Ten: Europe's Secret Beaches. You can easily walk to the Ceredigion Coastal Path. There is a small bedroom with 2 single beds, another small one with a double bed, and a larger one with a King Size bed. Two bathrooms (one for exclusive use by guests) and a shower in an outbuilding if you hate baths and want an invigorating experience. We have our own eggs if you like a big breakfast.
It is a 15 minute walk to the local bus stops if you are using public transport. In the summer and selected days in the winter there is the Cardi Bach, a small bus that serves the Coastal Path so you only need to walk one way. The Cardi Bach bus stop in Felinwynt is close to our drive. Closest train stations are Carmarthen or Aberystwyth. If you come by bus, happy to pick you up in Cardigan. If you like to cycle, we usually have a bike you can borrow. Plenty of good places to eat nearby and if you are on a tight budget you can cook in the kitchen. In season you can see what vegetables we have in the garden.
If the dates you want are booked, contact us we may have another bedroom available.
One of the most popular trips in Cardigan is a boat trip called Bay to Remember-On most trips you will see dolphins, seals and plenty of bird life. We have arranged a 10% discount on this trip if you chose to stay with us.
As a side note, all money we earn from airbnb goes to a building fund so we can convert one of the stone barns into a holiday home for families who have a disabled child. I work at a charity for disabled children and our youngest daughter (now 22) has a disability.
Guests are welcome to use the kitchen and the washing machine and dryer. Guests are also encouraged to make themselves at home.
Interaction with Guests
We are usually at home. Our daughter (22) is also living here. We are usually around as we need to care for the horses and chickens.
We live in a rural location although there is a convenience shop 2 miles away. You can walk to the coastal path from our house.
There is a bus stop via a footpath (10-15 minute walk) for an hourly daily service. When the Coastal bus is running, that makes 4 stops a day near the top of our drive. If you are using public transport to visit, last bus from Carmarthen to Cardigan is 6.15 pm. Also no buses on Sunday except the small coastal buses.
Other Things to Note
Unfortunately we do not take pets.
If you are a smoker you can smoke in the outside porch/conservatory. The cats are outside cats and the dog is a small poodle and does not shed hair. We ask our guests to take off their shoes when they go upstairs.
Many of our pillows and duvets have down and feather in them. If you have an allergy, let us know so we can use polyester pillows and duvets.
Thank you very much for the great stay. We had a wonderful experience! The advices by Alex and Renie already before our stay were really helpful!
We had a wonderful time at Alex and Renie's. They were very helpful with information about the local area and very generous with us using all the space indoors and outdoors. They made us feel very relaxed. As we had 5 bikes plus a surfboard it was great that we could use their barn to store it all. The kids loved the trampoline and we were overwhelmed by the Easter egg hunt one of their son's arranged. It was also very handy that we could use the kitchen for cooking the night we chose to stay in.
We had a great stay! Renie and Alex are very welcoming and friendly. Their home is very clean, and is ideally located to explore the amazing coastal path. It's a short drive/walk to the coast to incredible views and was one of the highlights of our trip. I'd also be remiss if I did not mention the amazing breakfast that we had both mornings. Finally, Renie helped with our laundry which was incredible as we had been traveling for a while. Thank you Renie and Alex for your hospitality!

I have just enjoyed my first experience of Airbnb whilst staying with Renie and Alex in their beautiful home. Their welcome was second to none and my room was grand, warm and comfortable. Thank you so much for having me to stay and for making me feel at home. Also, thank you for your delicious breakfasts. I especially loved the family atmosphere and the lovely, clean, light and airy accommodation. I have not felt so cared for a very long
We had a fantastic time at Alex and Reni's. Their house is really comfortable and warm, and it's spacious! We felt so relaxed there and their whole family were lovely :)
Beautiful sights are only a short drive away so there's plenty to do!
I would highly recommend staying here, and would return again.
From the first contact via Airbnb I felt welcome at The Old Stone Farmhouse. My hosts Alex and Renie could not have done more to make me feel welcome, from collecting me from town when I arrived, giving me tea and cake and inviting me to dinner!
Alex and. Renie were also generous with their time and I enjoyed chatting to them about the area, their family and their life in Wales
My room was bright and airy with an extremely comfortable bed, lovely views and a bathroom for my own use. Everywhere was clean and fresh and I was told to make myself completely at home, to use the kitchen if I wished and feel free to join the family in the lounge if I desired
I also had the pleasure of meeting other members of the family not forgetting Toulouse the dog, several cute chickens and the two horses!
The farm is tucked away down a pretty lane about a 20 minute walk to a regular bus service Walks to the idyllic coastal path towards Mwnt or Aberporth were approximately half an hour's walk and if you had a couple of hours it's a pleasant walk to Cardigan
Would not hesitate to recommend the farmhouse and certainly would return.

After almost all the children left home (we have 9 of them) we wanted to share our home with others. Sometimes they come back so it can be a busy household at times. Originally from the USA, we have been in Britain since 1980. When our youngest was born with a disability, our life direction changed. We moved to Wales in 1997. I love my work at a charity for disabled children. We also are involved in disabled skiing.
We have met so many interesting and lovely people through hosting with airbnb. It has been good fun and a good excuse to keep the house tidy. Also the funds have helped us convert an old stone cow barn into a holiday let. We just finished it. We like walking and cycling and exploring all the beautiful parts of the UK.
