About this listing
Our farmhouse is almost 200 years old. We are in a quiet spot yet nestled between Aberporth on the coast and Cardigan with all the amenities. A great location for walking the coastal path or visiting some of the best beaches in West Wales.
The house is on a quiet 8 acre small holding near the beautiful coastline of West Wales. 3 miles to Cardigan and about a 40 minute drive to the Ferry to Ireland at Fishguard. Cardigan has a Aldi, a Tesco, and Co-op supermarket A few miles to 6 beautiful sand beaches, two that are National Trust. Our local beach is Mwnt, listed as No. 1 in the Daily Mail's list in the Top Ten: Europe's Secret Beaches. You can easily walk to the Ceredigion Coastal Path. There is a small bedroom with 2 single beds, another small one with a double bed, and a larger one with a King Size bed. Two bathrooms (one for exclusive use by guests) and a shower in an outbuilding if you hate baths and want an invigorating experience. We have our own eggs if you like a big breakfast.
It is a 15 minute walk to the local bus stops if you are using public transport. In the summer and selected days in the winter there is the Cardi Bach, a small bus that serves the Coastal Path so you only need to walk one way. The Cardi Bach bus stop in Felinwynt is close to our drive. Closest train stations are Carmarthen or Aberystwyth. If you come by bus, happy to pick you up in Cardigan. If you like to cycle, we usually have a bike you can borrow. Plenty of good places to eat nearby and if you are on a tight budget you can cook in the kitchen. In season you can see what vegetables we have in the garden.
If the dates you want are booked, contact us we may have another bedroom available.
One of the most popular trips in Cardigan is a boat trip called Bay to Remember-On most trips you will see dolphins, seals and plenty of bird life.
As a side note, all money we earn from airbnb goes to a building fund so we can convert one of the stone barns into a holiday home to cater for families who have a disabled child. I work at a charity for disabled children and our youngest daughter (now 23) has a disability.
Guests are welcome to use the kitchen and the washing machine and dryer. Guests are also encouraged to make themselves at home.
Interaction with Guests
We are usually at home. Our daughter (23) is also living here. We are usually around as we need to care for the horses and chickens.
We live in a rural location although there is a convenience shop 2 miles away. You can walk to the coastal path from our house.
There is a bus stop via a footpath (10-15 minute walk) for an hourly daily service. When the Coastal bus is running, that makes 4 stops a day near the top of our drive. If you are using public transport to visit, last bus from Carmarthen to Cardigan is 6.15 pm. Also no buses on Sunday except the small coastal buses.
Other Things to Note
Unfortunately we do not take pets.
If you are a smoker you can smoke in the outside porch/conservatory. The cats are outside cats and the dog is a small poodle and does not shed hair. We ask our guests to take off their shoes when they go upstairs.
Many of our pillows and duvets have down and feather in them. If you have an allergy, let us know so we can use polyester pillows and duvets.
