Hitomi is a great host and the location is nice. I arrived a little earlier than coordinated but I was able to enjoy the surrounding scenery. The space provided was more than adequate for a backpacker like me. I was only able to enjoy her cooking for one night but it was good. I met some travelers from Malaysia who were also staying with Hitomi and it was nice to share traveling stories. Overall I would highly recommend staying with her.
Hitomi is very kind and helpful. It was short but I have passed a good time in her house and the curry udon was amazing :-p
I had a wonderful stay with Hitomi! The location of her place is perfect for sightseeing and going to and from Kyoto station, and while I was sadly never home for her meals they looked delicious. She made things very easy, from picking me up at the train station to leaving helpful tips on notes around the house. While it's a private home it does have a bit of a hostel vibe due to the multiple rooms, and I got to meet some really nice other guests while I was there. Overall a great stay, thank you again!!
We had a great time at Muneoka-san's home. She came to pick us up at JR Kohata station when we first arrived. Then she was very kind to help us carry one of our bags and showed us to our room. Our room was immaculately presented and had all the amenities. It was very clean and she showed us how to use the heater. She also helped us do some laundry on our first evening.
Dinners were quite good and delicious. She was very quick in making food and after dinner we would chat for a while. She's very friendly and tries really hard to talk in English.
In the whole place, she has these very cute labels of instructions on how to use each facility of equipment. It is quite thoughtful! Also she has some basic Japanese mannerisms in the information folder and on her dining table which is great fun to try if you don't speak Japanese. The information folder in the room is a big folder full of useful information and there's also a place which has brochures which you could use.
Kohata station is about 5-7 mins walk and you can get a local train to Kyoto. One tip of future visitors, the area is a new area and please take note of the directions as once you get lost in there it's quite hard to find the way. We got lost trying to get back on our first night there and one of the locals there was kind enough to walk us to Muneoka-san's home. We were lucky as the girl that helped us happened to be Muneoka-san's daughter's classmate and knew her.
Overall, it was a great experience and we felt living there was like living with family. We'd definitely recommend this place and will be back in future.

I like to see cherry blossoms in Kyoto, and travel Kyoto every Spring.
I am also doing Airbnb host as "Kamakura Cottage" in Kamakura ( near Tokyo ), and have learned this time. Kamakura is similar environment like as Kyoto, old city ( 800 years ago ), many shrine/temples. I love such old Japanese style.
Hitomi picked me from the station.
I was really suprise to find more foreigners in her house. During my stay I met 4 other people.
Atmosphere of the house is very quite, localization might not be the city centre but still connections are very good.
Very good place for this price.
Hitomi was a wonderful host, happy to pick me up from the station when I told her I wasn't sure how to walk to her place from there. Room was clean and hoyse was only five minutes away from JR Kohata station. Hitomi prepares dinner for guests every night and, though simple, it was delicious and healthy. Dinnertime's also great for getting to know people from other countries. I had a great time - arigato gozaimase, Hitomi!
Hitomi is the nicest person in the world. Really good cook too.
The house is very close to Kohata station on the JR Nara line.
Check in at 6pm is important as no one is there during the day.
For future visitors, Hitomi’s house is the last on the right in a cul-de-sac. It would have helped enormously to have known this, because even with a navigator, the taxi driver was at his wits end identifying our destination. Normally she picks her visitors up from the station.
It was good to be welcomed with a hot meal, somewhat mediocre the first night, better the second night (“nabe”), when a “repeater” arrived. The room was comfortable. I was unprepared for having to traipse downstairs to the toilet, but then maybe Hitomi was unprepared for such an elderly visitor as myself. She takes things in her stride. That she has many "repeaters" is in itself a recommendation.
The location was good for the purpose of my visit, within walking distance of JR (closest), Keihan and Subway line stations, all of which I used.
A great hostess and wonderful cook! Thanks Hitomi!!!
