Interaction with Guests

I am a full time employee so I will be working Tuesday-Saturday until 6 pm. I am usually home around 7 pm, so after that there will be some interaction. I (email hidden) and simply hope to make you feel comfortable.

The Neighborhood

This apartment is located in the historic and scenic neighborhood of Bedford-Stuyvesant, b.k.a Bed-Stuy, only an approximate 20 minute cab ride from both LGA and JFK airports. Nearby you can find hidden treasures including eateries like Saraghina, where excellent wood-fired Neapolitan pies are a real steal. Also, the Brooklyn Museum, Brooklyn Children's Museum, Brooklyn Botanical Gardens and many more hip places to enjoy are just a short drive.

Getting around

Within a 10-15 minute walk are the J, A and C trains, which will take you into Lower Manhattan in less than 20 minutes. This means Little Italy, Chinatown, and the Financial District are only a quick train ride away.

Other Things to Note

I suggest bringing with you some house slippers as my floors tend to be a little cold. Also take precaution when handling faucets, the water can get VERY hot.

  • My stay with Patti, was great. Patti was very nice and friendly. The room and facilities were just as described and clean. Her place is lovely. The location is quite a walk from train station but very close to a bus stop. Would definitely stay again

  • Patti has a beautiful 4 bedroom apartment in the historical community of Bed-Stuy. My room was able to accommodate myself and 4 pieces of luggage.

The apartment is an elegant balance of modern and antique architecture with both new bathroom fixtures combined with exposed brick throughout the space.

Patti and her roommate are lovely hosts. Due to our schedules, we did not see each other much but when we did encounter each other, it was always pleasant. When I had an issue with the cleanliness of the bathroom, Patti quickly resolved it.

Though it was quite a travel to the closest train station, I LOVED walking through this beautiful neighbourhood with the extremely helpful and friendly
community members. People greet each other with a 'good morning/evening' and I was offered assistance at every turn whenever I was lost and or traveling with my luggage.

I would recommend this space and neighbourhood to a friend.

  • Everything was great in this stay, the apartment, the neighborhood and the hostess. Thanks a lot Patti for making me feel at home! Were the remainder of my dates available, I would have re-booked!

  • The stay with Patti was great. The rooms and communal and social spaces were clean, the apartment's environment was relaxed and Patti was really friendly. If you're going to be using public transport to get to the apartment, pack lightly as the location is about 8 blocks from the main subway line (A & C) so if you're hauling large bags it's brutal after a long plane flight. My wife and I were initially nervous about walking around after dark but the neighborhood is safe and we never felt uncomfortable. It's great value for the price and a great way to check out New York and Brooklyn.

  • Patti is so thoughtful and considerate of all of her guests, you will love staying with her! The apartment is great, lovely and quiet at night, the room is a good size with more than enough closet and storage space and the shower is fantastic! The walk to the nearest subway is just over 10 minutes which i loved for a little fresh air in the morning. I hope you all enjoy as much as i did!

  • Patti couldn't have been lovelier. The room is just as described and the apartment is very NYC! I am a bit divided about the area - by day I felt safe and found some lovely cafes, bars and even community gardens. I fell in LOVE with the area by ay and would happily move to one of the gorgeous brownstones. It's also 5 mins from the subway and then super easy to get into Manhattan.

However, I tried walking around the area at night and as a single woman I didn't feel at all safe nearby the apartment. Unfortunately I only got to speak to Patti about this shortly before I left, she said there were taxi's at the subway at night. I'm sure she's right, but I got nervous waiting for one. I'd suggest you speak to Patti if you're planning on trying to get back by public transport. Personally I wouldn't try it again, but it's only about $20 back from Manhattan and then you get to stay with lovely in great apartment!

  • I had 10 awesome days in NYC and staying in Patti’s apartment was great. Her place is about a 10-15 minute walk from both Utica Ave and Halsey St. stations and perfectly located for discovering Brooklyn. The apartment itself is beautiful, clean and accommodating. There are two beautiful bathrooms available so you there is no lining up with other guests. Bed-Stuy is a residential neighborhood where you feel home immediately. I heartily recommend Patti's place and like to say thank you!

My name is Patricia and I've never escaped a nickname so you can call me Patti, Pat-rice, Pat-pat, Patty Mayonnaise, Peppermint Patty, or feel free to be creative, I can't get enough. Well I am an Interior Design student and a "born again New Yorker", if you will. After some time in Miami I have decided to relocate and pursue my dreams as a designer in the BIG apple. My life motto is "It's all about the who"; that is to say that the whats, whens, wheres, whys, and hows are all irrelevent if you don't have the right whos. Catch my drift? I'm a little quirky but it's all part of my charm :) It would be my pleasure to host for cool new people while I learn the ins and outs of this magnificent city. peace and love, Patti
