Great 4 bedroom 2 bath home close to downtown in Atlanta's charming neighborhood Capital View. Marta bus stop is across the street or its a 15 minute walk to Marta station. On and off street parking.
We were very happy with the way this place worked out for us. We were in Atlanta for a brief stay. The house was in a convenient location with easy access to public transportation and available parking. The room itself was cozy and furnished with character. The house overall was comfortable and clean.
There was an interesting mix of people staying in the hostel. Some had been there only a few days, while others had been there three months or more. Some were American, while others were world travelers.
The house was located in a neighborhood that was somewhat lower income than we expected. I would suggest trying to make your first arrival to this house during daylight hours. Although the house itself feels secure, we had some "interesting" experiences riding the route 95 bus at night. The 95 bus takes you from the West End subway stop to the hostel location. I'm told that the area is "in recovery" so things should improve in time.
Tim is really nice. This is a good place at a reasonable price.
Tim was great and kind host, my room was absolutely perfect! Also one of the person who takes care of the house, Ari, has been very gentle and kind to help me during my permanence in Atlanta!
I had a pleasant enough experience. The house is located in a convenient location to midtown Atlanta in a part of town that seems to be in the process of being revitalized... best way I can put it. I did not get to meet Tim, the owner, but we communicated via text and everything went smoothly. I was a little concerned about the security of my car, given the aspect of the area, but nothing happened. I suspect the area is much safer than it looks. I would consider renting again if I was in town.
We got into Atlanta on the busiest weekend of the year, and our accommodation fell through! Tim totally came to our rescue and got our a great room, for 4 nights at a great rate.
The room was great, shared bathroom, and Tim provided breakfast!
All in it was such a great find, a bit out of town, but close to public transport , Tim was great and we thank him for saving us.
The house (Downtown Charm) is really nice and so were all the other tenants I met there. Some of them only stayed for a short period, others for several weeks. Tim came over regularly and was really helpful with everything. He is a very friendly guy and reacts quickly to requests and questions.
The room I got was spacious and clean, and so were the kitchen and shared bathroom.
The area whre the house is is a little run-down and there is nothing to do really if you don't have a car. Other areas of Atlanta seem nicer. With public transport, it takes at least 20 minutes by bus+train into town, however, mostly it takes 30 minutes and longer due to limited service after 5pm and in the weekends.
If you are aware of these limitations, I can really recommend Tim as a host and the house as a place to stay!
Check-in was fast and uncomplicated, even if I got relocated, but Tim kindly informed me well in advance. Although I haven´t seen Tim during my 2-day stay, Rick was there. Traveling alone, I didn´t feel very comfortable in the area, but I had great talks with some of the roommates, which I really enjoyed. Overall, it was an adventerous experience for me actually living with (at least!) 5 guys :) and it´s absolutely great value for money.
I booked early in the slow season, so found a low rate at that time so got a great deal. I didn't end up staying in the room I booked, though, as Tim had double booked it with another person by the time I arrived. At first he said that he thought I had reserved a "hostel" space in this house, but I double checked my reservation and it was for a private room. That room was occupied by Rick, who came to the house as a guest but stayed on as a new house caretaker of sorts, from what I understand. Since he was staying in the room I originally booked, I was moved around a bit in the first week of my stay. During the second week of my 2 week stay I settled into the wrap around porch room - not my original reservation, but a decent substitute.
Overall, I found that like everyone says, Tim is a very nice and easygoing guy, who wants his guests to enjoy their stay. During the time I stayed it seemed like he was getting quite busy trying to manage all three properties, hence the confusion about my room. He does a great job of making sure linens and towels are cleaned regularly, but other aspects of the house like the floors and bathroom could use a little more upkeep. For instance the bathroom sink was badly clogged (it seemed like from shaving cream and hairs) and would fill up completely while I brushed my teeth and washed my face. I told Tim and the house caretaker about it, but it didn't get fixed before I left. You should also be conscious that you are sharing this bathroom with potentially several guests, as the house is basically like a hostel, and each of the four rooms plus the front living area can accomodate multiple guests.
I found this listing a great value at the off season weekly rate (I booked it during February), so fit my needs as I was traveling for work. I definitely recommend booking with Tim, as he is a great guy, but if you want accommodations on the nicer side book in one of the other houses.
Needed a place to stay for 3 days, and Tim and his house were absolutely awesome, everything was furnished and clean. Felt like home. And Tim is the MAN hands down.
