The Bali Hut is a beautiful hand carved building done in Indonesia, located on a half acre, surrounded by palm trees and tropical gardens. Sleeping in the hut is a unique and peaceful experience, you will fall asleep to the sounds of the jungle and crashing of waves in the distance. The Bali hut is located off the Puna coast within walking distance of the ocean and black sand beach. The lava is flowing now and its a perfect location to stay with the hiking and viewing trails just near by.

Had a wonderful stay in the Bali Hut! Beautiful and peaceful location. Sukimana (Louisa's assistant) was extremely kind and helpful. I would like to come back very soon.

If you like being with mother nature with the sound of frogs at night and have the morning sunlight great you through every wall with bird songs all round at the start of day this is the place for you. It is completely private. There is WIFI available but the area is out of reach of mobile phone coverage and AT&T has coverage nearby. Power is both solar during daylight hours and main supply during the night . The interior décor is Balinese with wood carvings on the floor. The surrounding garden is artistically landscaped. I went to study the volcanoes and found the location well suited to make several trips to museums and reserves. It took me a little time to find grocery stores because they are within 6 to 10 miles radius along country roads. I didn't try to eat out so I cannot comment on standards of restaurants. Louise was not there but her friend did a very good job of caring for me .

Mahalo for your great review and happy you had such a good time. Its always great to have guests that understand my way of living, cooperating with the sun and mother nature. Sorry about the bed but the frame fits together like a puzzle and it probably just needed to be adjusted. Sukmani would have taken care of it with just a word, I will have her look at it just to make sure that nothing broke and mahalo for your suggestion. I am happy for you that you got to see the lava, it truly is amazing. I hope you come again when I am home and would love to host you again. Aloha Louisa

Louisa was such a lovely host! She wasn't on the island while we were there, but left us in the hands of a friend who took such good care of us! She shared so many pointers, let us know about local events and advice on things we wanted to do! The location is secluded & perfect for a tranquil getaway. We felt completely safe being just two girls travelling alone. It's a place to stay to add to your island experience, showering outside & the toilet also being an outhouse. You'll literally sleep to the sound of nature (know, that doesn't always mean quiet sleeps...). Do note that if you're wanting to see heaps of things on the island, it's not the closest to everything, but the drive anywhere is just beautiful & there isn't any traffic so we didn't mind! it made the perfect base for our adventures and added to our experience! We loved it so much and raved on with joy to our friends! Thanks for having us Louisa! We loved our stay.

Aloha and mahalo for your great review and I am happy to hear that you were in excellent hands with my assistant Sukmani, she is the best. Our island is so unique, I feel so blessed to live there and share its peace, beauty and quiet with my guests. Mahalo nui for being my guests. Just to mention that the toilet is a flush toilet, outhouse can mean something no so pleasant at times, ha ha, from my camping experiences. Please come back anytime especially when I am on island. It's essentially glamping. Unfortunately the last couple of days we didn't sleep in the hut as we saw a big rat running on the inside support beams.. but they have been extremely accommodating and let us sleep in the house when we mentioned it. Really nice people, but be wary that it is indeed closer to camping than a hotel room.

Response from Louisa:
This was a very unusual situation. This only happens if guests leave food in the Bali hut and that was only one time in six years. I live in the jungle and their are certain protocols that need to be strictly followed. I am always very upset when this happens and of course apologetic to my guests. All of our sheets and towels are freshly washed and no scented detergent is used, the Bali hut is screened and odors would be from nature itself as the Bali hut is always cleaned and mopped and dusted. Thank you for your feedbacks.

I am from Hawaii but of Italian decent, I am interested in anything to do with nature and health, I practice yoga daily and have been studying hula for many years. I hike, bike, snorkel and swim and enjoy being outdoors and that is so easy living here in Hawaii. I love all types of music and dance. I love animals and you will see my cats roaming around my land when you stay here. I love to travel as well so hope you travel here to beautiful Hawaii and enjoy my beautiful Bali house. I have lots of travelling tips to share with you about Hawaii and this beautiful area that I live in. I know you will enjoy it here as you will see for yourself.
