Cabin/ antique Bali Hut in beautiful Hawaii on one half acre with ocean views on the Big island of Hawaii on the Puna coast, five minutes walking distance to the black sand beach where the dolphins swim and spin, whale watch in the winter months and play in the surf. My rental is just twenty minutes from Pahoa town where you will find many resturants and grocery and health food stores. This beautiful coastline is one of the most picturesque and oldest parts of Hawaii, twenty minutes to snorkeling and warm pools. This coastline road is perfect for a long bicycle ride to explore this beautiful paradise's hidden treasures. The retreat center Kalani Oceanside retreat is just five minutes from my home, offering yoga classes,a daily schedule of various classes plus a gift shop and resturant with three meals per day. This hut was hand carved in East Timor, Indonesia, sixty years ago and is free standing, open aired, screened with privacy mesh shades. The Bali house is quiet and peaceful, you will sleep to the sound of ocean surf and swaying palm trees. The bathroom and outdoor hot shower are separate from the house and very private, surrounded by trees and plants, their is a privacy fence on the border. The shower is not visible to my home or neighbors. No cooking facilities are available. Please note this is a non-smoking home and grounds in a very quiet neighborhood. I will be happy to tell you of all the great things to do here on our special and beautiful island. Aloha and mahalo.
The guests will have access to our beautiful coastal road, state parks, jungle walks, hot ponds that are heated by underground lava vents. Tide pools that are great for snorkeling, a black sand beach that is accessible for good walkers and good swimmers. My guests do not have to even leave the area, their are plenty of adventures to be found on this beautiful road.
Interaction with Guests
I am very social with my guests if they wish any information or guidance on their trip. I am always available to them when they need assistance or need anything to make them more comfortable.
My neighborhood is peaceful and very quiet, lots of beautiful plants to see on a neighborhood walk. My backyard is beautiful for plants and star gazing. My neighborhood is also very safe, I do have an office if you wish to lock up any valuables. Parking is available in my driveway, safe and secure.
I strongly urge my guests to rent a car, their is a public bus but it only runs twice a day and does not make it easy to view the sites here.
Other Things to Note
The Bali hut is in total commune with nature, you can see the plants surrounding the hut, hear the ocean, watch the birds fly by, the hut is screened and has privacy mesh shades and with the trees and plants, gives you total privacy. This is the same for the outdoor shower. You will also see our beautiful dancing geko's on the ceiling that are completely harmless, my guests love them and I do also. Please note that their are two airports on the island, Kona and Hilo, I am closer to the Hilo airport, Kona is 2-3 hours away.
This rental is a peaceful and meditative environment, completely non smoking and excessive drinking or loud music is not acceptable. Please note this rental and my home are completely solar, the use of hair dryers or anything with a heating element is not allowed. No camp stoves or any other flamable device are allowed inside the Bali house. Mahalo.
It is a dream for Louisa. In this place you are in a paradise. A great break for those who want to forget everyday life. I recommend Louisa without hesitation. I'll be back.
This tropical hut was a great place to experience Hawaii. It has a great ambiance, just like the airbnb page suggests. Louisa was an excellent and helpful host. She took the time to make sure we enjoyed our stay on big island even though we were only with her for one night. Suggestion for the next guest: park IN FRONT of the wheelbarrow. :) thanks for everything Louisa!
This review reiterates previous reviewers' positive experiences in the tree hut. The area and neighborhood is quiet, lush, beautiful, and a short drive or longer walk to the beach and to nearby Kalani. I would often jog in the mornings to view the sunrise over the ocean. I love that it becomes deeply dark at night to clearly see the stars, and that you can hear the symphony of the jungle (though it may not be music to everyone's ears) through the screened-in hut. The hot water worked fine during my stay and there is enough privacy to take showers outside and feel quite safe and relaxed about it. When there was a water issue Louisa worked diligently to fix it quickly.
I think it's priced just right for a luxury 'glamping' experience without a kitchen. The only thing I would ask is that Louisa consider updating her WIFI information on the airbnb listing. Though she does offer WIFI, because she uses solar power exclusively, it is not available around the clock. You can use the WIFI when Louisa is home so she can turn it off and on. This worked out fine for me in the end, but I did need to adjust my expectations. Not a negative aspect or a deterrent; I would simply suggest that Louisa make note of this in her listing. Thanks for the hospitality! I am looking forward to returning to the Big Island in 2016 and Louisa is inspiring in how engaged she is with the local community. An example for a true Pahoa advocate.
Louisa's hut is a dream come true.
It is everything you would want in a place to relax among nature. The screened in hut lets in sunlight, but had shades in case you wanted less light. The screen also allows you to hear the birds chirping and help you feel like you are not missing one minute of enjoying Hawaii to the fullest. There was a mosquito net covering the bed which made our sleep extra comfortable. We slept well every night in a comfortable bed, Louisa even provided extra blankets and a mirror, filtered water and glasses, a cushioned lounge sun chair to relax in, and lamps for nighttime.
Louisa was an amazing lively woman who helped us so much with helpful tips, directions and even a personal map of surrounding attractions to take with us.
At night, my boyfriend and I stargazed and listened to the birds sing songs.
I can say without a doubt that this in the only place I would stay at in Hilo.
Thank you so much for everything Louisa!
We found the Bali Hut a relaxing abode set in a tropical setting. I found myself designing the place to add two more Bali Huts complete with their own rain gutter collecting system and solar system. As for Louisa is a very friendly person.
Aloha I am sorry for your discomfort and I wished you had mentioned it to me when you were here, I always ask my guests if they need anything. I have never had any complaints about the bed comfort and unhappy that you were not comfortable, that is very important to me for my guests. I would love to hear your suggestions about the bathroom, the toilet is brand new. I can only say it is a luxurious step above camping but I am always open to more improvements. Mahalo Louisa
Louisa is a complete and utter delight.
She made us feel incredibly welcome; She answered all of our
pre-departure questions quickly and in great detail. When we arrived she gave us endless suggestions about where to go, what to eat and how to experience Pahoa as the locals do.
To say that our time with Louisa was amazing would be an huge understatement. The entire vacation literally felt like a dream. The Bali Hut was exquisitely crafted and in such a safe and comfortable environment. We fell asleep under the glittering light of a thousand stars to the sounds of the ocean and the native wildlife.
Louisa's commitment to a sustainable lifestyle is truly commendable. Her entire home is operated by solar power and rainwater is collected for daily use.
I loved my time here so much that the next time I book a trip to the Big Island, I'll be sure to contact Louisa. We had such an unforgettable time, I honestly wouldn't consider staying anywhere else.
Thank you again Louisa, for the best vacation I have ever had.
Louisa's Bali Hut is in a quiet, attractive neighborhood with an easy walk downhill to the main road and a good ocean view. The hut, itself, is simple and delightful. The separate bathroom is attractive and very clean. I felt included when Louisa invited me to watch her hula class at a nearby retreat center.
I am from Hawaii but of Italian decent, I am interested in anything to do with nature and health, I practice yoga daily and have been studying hula for many years. I hike, bike, snorkel and swim and enjoy being outdoors and that is so easy living here in Hawaii. I love all types of music and dance. I love animals and you will see my cats roaming around my land when you stay here. I love to travel as well so hope you travel here to beautiful Hawaii and enjoy my beautiful Bali house. I have lots of travelling tips to share with you about Hawaii and this beautiful area that I live in. I know you will enjoy it here as you will see for yourself.
