Cabin/ antique Bali Hut in beautiful Hawaii on one half acre with ocean views on the Big island of Hawaii on the Puna coast, five minutes walking distance to black sand beach where the dolphins swim and spin, whale watch in the winter months and play in the surf. My rental is just twenty minutes from Pahoa town where you will find many resturants and grocery and health food stores. This beautiful coastline is one of the most picturesque and oldest parts of Hawaii, twenty minutes to snorkeling and warm pools. This coastline road is perfect for a long bicycle ride to explore this beautiful paradise's hidden treasures. The retreat center Kalani Oceanside retreat is just five minutes from my home, offering yoga classes,a daily schedule of various classes plus a gift shop and resturant with three meals per day. This hand carved in East Timor, Indonesia, antique sixty year old free standing Bali house is quiet and peaceful, you will sleep to the sound of ocean surf and swaying palm trees. The bathroom and outdoor hot shower are separate from the house and very private. No cooking facilities are available. Please note this is a non-smoking home and grounds in a very quiet neighborhood. I will be happy to tell you of all the great things to do here on our special and beautiful island. Aloha and mahalo.
Louisa was a wonderful host! Would have loved to hear more about her travels. The bali hut was amazing. Clean and cozie. I am very happy to have stayed there. I strongly recommend it. Thank you Louisa and hope to see you again. :)
Louisa was not in town so I can not comment on her yet, she kept in contact with me at all times and made possible for me to stay at her beautiful Bali Hut. There was another lady there her name is Rio and she gracious very attractive and she guided me on all the amenities of the hut, the toilet and shower are outside but it did not diminish the relaxing atmosphere of the site. In the morning you wake up with a sound of real music from the ocean, the wind, birds and the frogs take the show at night (this frogs i understand that they are not native of Hawaii). I was running away from the big city trying to find an isolated relaxing place and i found it. I am planning on visiting this fabulous place for the rest of my life. Plenty of activities surround the area even if you don't nothing is worthy to stay at this facility. I just felt like i was in heaven. Thank you Rio, Thank you Louisa.
Amazing, wonderful accommodations and location! Clean space and very relaxing. Would definitely come back to stay here.
We had a great stay at the Bali Hut and enjoyed the quiet rural aspect of the area. Louisa was a great host and provided us with different places to go in the area and unique "off the map" places. This is a great way to see the island on a budget, and enjoy one of the most beautiful areas of the island. Highly recommended!
There is no better place to get away from city life and enjoy nature than at the Bali Hut. It's a magnificent hand crafted open piece of paradise surrounded by palm trees, beautiful plants and all solar based. It's comfortable double bed, the sound of the ocean and frogs with a cool breeze, had me sleeping like a baby every night. I loved the amazing outdoor hot shower and toilet. Everything was so clean, even the gecko's loved it! For the short 6 days that I was there Louisa, the very lively, nice and funny host made sure I felt at home. Even though I had no car, I still got the chance to see a lot of what Pahoa has to offer, met so many wonderful people along the way and all thanks to the lovely host. If there is anything you want to know, you can just ask her! She'll help! My stay was so enjoyable, I'm already planning my next stay in 2014!
If you love nature and want to stay away from the hustle bustle of Kona side, this is the place to be in. Volcano and Hamacua coast are easy to cover from this side. The house has intricate decorations of Indonesia, surrounded with native tropical plants. AT&T doesn't work there, but why would you need that in your vacation? On the way to Pahoa, you will get your signal back. You can see recent lava flow within 1 mile from the house. Louisa is a great host. She explained the local area and guided us with the directions to the sightseeings. It was a pleasure and we were lucky to get a chance to stay in her house.
We had an amazing stay at Louisa's Bali Hut. The place is awesome and I would definately stay there again. Lying in bed you can see the palm trees outside and listen to the sea. If one loves nature that's the place to be. Louisa was an awesome host. She not only gave us lots of tips, she also took us to a hula class in the nearby retreat center where we could be part of the course. That was a really great experience! It was the best place we stayed at during our four week vacation!
We had a great stay in Louisa's cabin.
It was the experience we expected : sleeping "in the jungle", the outside shower and a very nice wooden cabin + floor !
In addition, Louisa was really nice and welcoming. She gave us very good advice to organize our stay and to enjoy a very authentic side of Hawaii !
We would love to go back, and would definitely recommend the Bali Hut to people who want to have such an experience with Aloha spirit !
Mahalo to Louisa !
Loved this place!!! It's a gorgeous airy hut, kept immaculately clean, with a comfy bed, on a great piece of property. We loved waking up to only the sounds of nature with a view of palm trees in all directions. Plus, the location is perfect for exploring the region around Volcanos NP, Pahoa, and the eastern coast-line of the Big Island. The fresh fruit, the helpful advice and the hospitality provided by Elise (who was residing on the property in the main house) all contributed to a wonderful experience. It's a little rustic since the bathroom facilities and an outdoor shower (hot) are separated from the hut itself, but that doesn't diminish the experience. Great value for a great place.
The stay at Bali hut was very good. It was fun to stay in a place away from the main town area where we could enjoy some peace and quiet as we tried to unwind after the adventures that we had on the Big Island!
Could not meet Louisa, but she was very kind enough to have Elise host us, and she left us a note as well to make us feel welcome! Elise was a great hostess and offered us information about the area, the less known places that were visited.
All in all, really liked the place and it's charm.
