At the risk of sounding overly enthusiastic, Tom and Gail's adobe casita was a little piece of heaven away from home. The beds were comfy, the kitchen well stocked, and the heating nice and warm. Gail made us feel especially welcome, even lending us a beautiful marimba for our baby to play with.
They made sure we were provided with shampoo, conditioner, soaps, lotions, and towels for showering. We loved staying with them, and we'd love to do so again in the future.
Great place! We enjoyed the cozy guest house. It was clean, comfortable and had everything we needed. Our host Gail left us a massage table with some great body butter as an extra treat. Great way to relax after a long day of travel!!
We had a lovely retreat at Gail & Tom's guesthouse. It was neat, tidy and welcoming. Gail was a great hostess and made sure we had fresh breakfast items and coffee. We would definitely recommend this place for anyone traveling through Durango.
The Second Wind Adobe guest house was wonderful. We stayed in February and it was snowing every day. It was beautiful with the mountainous terrain, and we stayed cozy warm with the gas heater stove. The property is about 10-15 mins south of Durango and easily found just off 550. The guest house is well stocked with amenities. Horses just outside, and some friendly dogs. We would definitely recommend it.
What a great place to stay! Gail and Tom were excellent hosts and had great suggestions of places to eat. They have a lot of great movies to watch before bed and a good WiFi signal. I loved the over sized shower.
We had a wonderful stay during Valentine's weekend at 2nd Wind Guest Adobe. The space was exactly as described, very private and comfortable. We especially liked our little kitchen area which was well stocked. We were left with bagels, english muffins, eggs, cream cheese, etc. for breakfast along with choices of oatmeal, pancakes, hot tea and cocoa. It was perfect for us as we were able to make a little breakfast sandwich before we started our day adventures. Gail and Tom were perfect hosts, very friendly, polite and easy to communicate with. The location is about 20 minutes or so into downtown Durango. The only thing I would recommend is that guests make sure to take some slippers/socks as the tile floor, even with the rugs throughout, stays cold.
Our stay at the Second Wind in Durango was absolutely wonderful. Gail and Tom have created a great space for their visitors. Gail was so sweet to accommodate us with all the comforts of home and then some. My Husband, our one year old son, and I had a perfect stay. Very comfortable. Sweet people! Wonderful hospitality and environment. If you are trying to plan a trip to Durango this is the perfect spot! Close but not too close to the city and at such a great value :) Oh and Their DVD collection is awesome! Thanks Gail and Tom!!!

Originally from the Hudson River/Shawangunk region of New York State, Tom and Gail re-located to Colorado in 2006 to explore the amazing southwest culture.Through Airbnb, we enjoy opening our home and hospitality to people from, so far, over 27 countries.A guest from Belgium once said she was trying to determine if she wanted to be a desert or a mountain dweller- here in the "4 corners " of the United States, we have ready access for both choices. All seasons have their beauty, and are easy to adapt to thanks to a moderate climate.
Tom is a craftsman who can build or fix anything! His warm personality and smile is his trademark, and his Irish roots are part of his love for sharing stories, ideas, and conversation. Tom is great at noticing your need and offering his assistance. He loves to ride "the orange carrot" his road bicycle, and explore the natural scenic beauty of the area.
Gail has been everything from a cook, to a singer, to her current work for United Airlines at Durango-La Plata Airport. She is also a very "hands on" type of person-with landscaping, homeschooling, and massage therapy, in her background.
We appreciate the heritage spirit of the Southwest, the scenic beauty, and laid back Western style of Durango, with friendly people and a strong sense of community, culture, and connection with the outdoors.
