We enjoyed our stay at the Second a Wind. The place was as described, tastefully decorated, and very comfortable. There was plenty of food left for us to make breakfast. We especially liked the fresh blueberries. Gail was even so kind as to bring fresh flowers. We would highly recommend the Second Wind.
We were made to feel very welcome!Itwas better than we expected. We were closer to the rental car place and airport than we thought which made it convenient. We enjoyed being out of the city. It was quiet and peaceful and we loved looking at the millions of stars we do not get to see where we live.
Tom and Gail were the best hosts ever! They did everything possible to make us feel welcome, from stocking the fridge, to playing with our 5-year-old son, to arranging the furniture in a way that would be comfortable for our baby in her pack n' play. The Adobe house was perfect for us. If we come back, our 5-year-old has requested that we stay here again. Thanks, Tom and Gail!
The Guesthouse was absolutely lovely, everything I hoped and more! I met Gail as I arrived and hit it off immediately. I told her about my plans to meet my daughter at her camp and that I would be picking her up the next. Gail also works at the airport and ran into some of the campers at the airport in the wee hours of the morning. She asked them if they knew my daughter, which they did, and they all wrote notes to her. Gail later presented them to my daughter tied in a ribbon with three feathers for each of the three friends. A very touching gesture and one we will never forget!
We were able to sleep with windows open most night and only needed to use the AC sparingly. The kitchen and bathroom are well stocked and has everything you would need. Located in the country a few miles south of town it's very quiet and peaceful with just the sounds of the birds and crickets for the most part.
Tom and Gail are wonderful hosts and I and I hope to stay with them again in the future!
Cute and wonderful country home!!! The private space was perfect!! My wife was blown away!! Loved the fact that they put aside things for us for breakfast. Loved the fresh fruit and snacks and candy they had to welcome us.
My son and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at 2nd Wind Guesthouse. We were welcomed by Gail and had the opportunity to meet her other lovely guest, from my home state of NJ. The guesthouse was charming and very comfortable. The outdoor views were spectacular!

About the Host, Tom And Gail
Originally from the Hudson River/Shawangunk region of New York State, Tom and Gail re-located to Colorado in 2006 to explore the amazing southwest culture.Through Airbnb, we enjoy opening our home and hospitality to people from, so far, over 31 countries.A guest from Belgium once said she was trying to determine if she wanted to be a desert or a mountain dweller- here in the "4 Corners " of the United States, we have ready access for both choices. All seasons have their beauty, and are easy to adapt to thanks to a moderate climate.
Tom is a craftsman who can build or fix anything! His warm personality and smile is his trademark, and his Irish roots are part of his love for sharing stories, ideas, and conversation. Tom is great at noticing your need and offering his assistance. He loves to ride "the orange carrot" his road bicycle, and explore the natural scenic beauty of the area.
Gail has been everything from a cook, to a singer, to her current work for United Airlines at Durango-La Plata Airport. She is also a very "hands on" type of person-with landscaping, homeschooling, and massage therapy, in her background.
We appreciate the heritage spirit of the Southwest, the scenic beauty, and laid back Western style of Durango, with friendly people and a strong sense of community, culture, and connection with the outdoors.
