Many of our guests see the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary on a bay cruise or lesson with our family sailing club, Monterey Bay Sailing. Monterey has some of the best sailing conditions on the West coast. Monterey Bay Sailing sails every day. You can make a reservation any time between 10:45 AM and 6:15 PM. Our cruises leave from Old Fisherman's Wharf through the Monterey harbor. The sails go up as soon as you get past the breakwater. We sail along historic Cannery Row, past the kelp reefs with Sea Otters, California Sea Lions, and different species of marine birds. Your voyage continues towards Pacific Grove, Lovers Point, Point Pinos and tacks back to the harbor with the Pacific swell at our stern.
Reservations can be made by phone at (831) 372-SAIL (7245) or (email hidden).
We look forward to hosting you and sailing with you on the majestic Monterey Bay.

The house is very welcoming and perfect for a family stay. The house is clean, comfortably furnished, and easy to find. The neighborhood is quiet and the proximity to the bay is hard to beat. We would definitely recommend Carolyn & Dutch to others.
Really lovely, comfortable house with well-done updating. My kids were marveling at all of the bathroom upgrades :) It's very easy to get to and a great home base for exploring the area - it was around 15 minutes to Point Lobos. We didn't encounter much of any traffic. The only thing I would mention is that there is quite a bit of street traffic at certain times, so if you're a light sleeper I would recommend a noise machine or white-noise app. It isn't extreme (bothered one of the 5 people in our group) but did wake that person up several times. Overall it's really a lovely place and I wouldn't hesitate to stay there again!
The cottage provided a perfect place for a relaxing weekend. It is located close to the Monterey wharf (maybe a 10 minute drive). We decided to stay in for dinner, and the kitchen had everything we needed. I would definitely stay here again!
Had an amazing time at this home. Conveniently located near the Monterey fairgrounds where we needed to be. The home was cozy, clean, and just had a great energy about it. Would definitely stay here again! Plus check in and check out was a breeze.
This was a nice home in Seaside. Arrival was a little strange, as when we showed up one of the bedrooms had baskets of laundry still out and looked as if it hadn't been thoroughly cleaned since the last people stayed or the hosts stayed. We had to call and make sure we actually had two bedrooms in case someone showed up to collect their laundry. After that hiccup, it was fine. We made breakfast and enjoyed nearby Monterrey. I thought the price was very high considering what you get, but it was Memorial Day weekend and pickings were slim!
Great house super close to downtown Monterey. My three friends and I recently ran the Big Sur Marathon and staying at this lovely cottage was a dream! It is only a 12 minute drive to downtown Monterey and Cannery Row. Close to Whole Foods grocery store and lots of lovely restaurants. We chose to cook dinner and the kitchen was excellent. All around great experience! I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a relaxing getaway on the coast.
Carolyn and Dutch have a very accommodating home...We only needed one night.....but, the longer you stay, the more you would enjoy it

About the Host, Carolyn & Dutch
I am a community college instructor at Monterey Peninsula College and special programs director at the Monterey Institute of International Studies . My husband, Dutch, runs a public sailing club, Monterey Bay Sailing, on Old Fisherman's Wharf and many of our guests choose to go out for a bay cruise or dinner cruise while in town. We have a mixed lab/shepard dog named Nilla who is very friendly and quiet.
